  1. Sure, but the swings and roundabouts of that -- especially in a side going well -- under the current format is that the second string will then leapfrog him and on we go again! You really must try to get a grip and understand that a civilised debate on a forum is not trolling just because a poster doesn't agree with your conclusions. You had a go at a poster for saying it was raining and then blamed him for you not making the trip. I suggested that you could try alternative sources. If you think it's trolling, then report it to a mod. I'm sure they don't have better things to do.
  2. I think you make a fair point concerning home advantage, particularly given how few home EL matches have actually been staged so far at the NSS and your ah, how can we put it, interesting and varied city climate. Quite agree on Fricke although by season's end surely his average will be a good bit north of the current six and a half. But surely a must for 2017 regardless.
  3. You would base your entire journey on one poster on a speedway forum? Yeh right...oh, you did.
  4. You actually made that decision on the basis of one poster on a speedway forum? And think it reflects on him rather than you? Here's a couple of useful links for future reference. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/
  5. Yes. At a place called Leicester. You may have heard of it. http://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/13047/ben-fund-bonanza-leicester-2014 http://www.srbf.co.uk/gallery/2014/
  6. You said it exactly as I have rightly put it. It's called quoting. You seriously don't know the difference between small and smaller? Read it again and have another go.
  7. At Wolfie's time of life he may be wanting to sit down (sorry mate!) and according to the club website that's £20 (or £23 for premium).
  8. Athletics, tennis and boxing are smaller sports than speedway?
  9. I've always admired Steve's Monmore loyalty, particularly when he employs the term 'stabilised' as a euphemism for 'deteriorated'!
  10. Well, if the SWC final gets switched to a Cheshire meadow, perhaps someone should give him a call. FWIW I'd pick him as well, and I'm sure you mentioned the grasstrack from the point of view of good general form, confidence building and so forth. Still made me smile, though!
  11. Most of us will have had that experience of making a long-ish post and then having that annoying little niggle that something pertinent has been left out. That's been the case over the last few days for me, so a big thank-you to robert72... ...for this timely reminder.
  12. That was commentary? I thought he was reading the stock market lists.
  13. Thanks. Apologies if I've inadvertently encouraged you to go over old ground. But it's easy to miss the odd post (and some of the ones on here are very odd) over the course of 81 pages.
  14. You're going to have to indulge me on this one, I'm of a (comparatively) tender age. If cheese, why cheese? Not so many years ago at Wolves, an announcer who shall be nameless *cough* Porky *cough* delivered a Wolves warcry without the V, drawing a spirited response of "Woles!" from one section on the terrace.
  15. The late Mel Pettit rising slowly but inexorably from his seat in the stand at Derwent Park, the late evening sun flashing off the myriad badges on his blazer, and pivoting on the balls of his feet to favour some unfortunate referee with an incinerating glance in which contempt and pity fought for supremacy. A much missed gentleman.
  16. Out of interest, Philip, do you have a view on the question posed in the thread title (and willing to share it)?
  17. In my fantasy world, double global champion Tai Woffinden is Britain's best rider and an automatic choice for the Great Britain team. I have a sneaking suspicion my fantasy will come true. Yours is that he will be dropped for the Speedway World Cup. Let's see how that one pans out.
  18. We could actually put the whole issue on hold for another year as I already know how it will unfold. In scenario A, if Woffinden doesn't ride in the 2017 British semi-final/final, robert72 will declare he has again turned his back on British speedway, is unpopular with the fans (the cheers of 30,000-plus at Cardiff notwithstanding) and resume his unavailing quest to have Great Britain's best rider -- possibly Britain's best ever rider -- removed from the national team. In scenario B, if Woffinden does ride, robert72 will say he has learned his lesson but only done so in response to the overwhelming outpouring of demand from alienated supporters. He will also say this is a lesson that should have been learned the previous year. If he doesn't ride in the Ben fund, robert72 will demand a major fundraising effort for it from the fabulously wealthy Woffinden. If he does ride in the Ben fund, robert72 will demand a major fundraising effort for it from the fabulously wealthy Woffinden. I think that about covers it.
  19. This is your posting philosophy in a nutshell, is it not? Not much of a substitute for rational debate, mind.
