Ah, you're now following up your inside knowledge on what his late father would have thought by revealing your current inside hotline to the thoughts of the rider himself. How very clever.

Could be, could be. At the risk of sounding like Peter Adams (voice drops half an octave, eyes assume the appearance of sagacious bloodhound) it's not about being the best team all season, it's about being the best team in October. I like the look of the Rye side; with the obvious caveat about a very new line-up gelling with each other and also getting used to a new track, I think they should go well. But as it stands (ie the uncertainty over other clubs) I would have Wolves down as a top four side at the moment.

Or have other competing demands on their resources. Or have other circumstances you don't know about. Kindly don't patronise.

Gutsy pass round the outside in the very next heat of the match (1992 against Reading) from some stylish tyro called P. Karlsson. Wonder if he ever made it?
-
I would think Fricke's seven-point gap to Sedgmen too great. That's a big margin in a meeting with a maximum of 19 points on offer. Not exactly Sedgmen's to lose, but it's surely between him and Masters (who trails him by three in second place) now.

Discussion on the Belle Vue thread, I believe. The reply may have been posted here inadvertently.

It really is buy one, get one free with you two is it not?

Well, good as far as it goes. Obviously would prefer him going well rather than otherwise, but I don't think Aussie form necessarily means too much when the UK tapes rise.
-
Aussie form doesn't necessarily transfer to this country. Obviously from a Wolves perspective I'm happier to see Masters going well rather than not, but equally if he'd scored two I wouldn't be losing sleep over it.

Bike maintenance/engineering is listed as one of the modules on the Poultec programme. Away matches can be lonely affairs (sorry!).

Arguably the best child's name ever!

Many thanks for the details. I look forward to attending; would be good to meet up with any other forum members who are able to turn out.

As an exiled Comet who admittedly doesn't see much second-tier racing, I'm very impressed by this line-up. On the riders I've met and spoken to Proctor, in particular, if fully fit is an absolute bargain on his current average and having seen plenty of him at Wolves in earlier years his will to win is second to none (ask him some time what happened to Robert Miskowiak behind the trees at Monmore...). Roynon is obviously well-known to Workington supporters and, again, I saw plenty of him during his time at Cradley. Class act. Wolves also had Jorgensen briefly and he made a very good impression. Also a good personality, which should help in the morale stakes. You can regard me as chuffed of the Midlands!

Fondly remembered by Workington fans, had a good season with the Comets in '78. You mention his tight line on the kerb; I made occasional trips to watch the old Furness Flyers at Park Road, Barrow and Rob was among the visitors (Exeter?) on what was presumably his first visit. Out of the gate in smart fashion, onto the kerb, down the back straight, onto the kerb...and off towards the fence, frantically locking up harder and harder before a great save. Twas a tricky circuit, but good action. Apologies for digression.
-
Apologies, I didn't realise he had it so tough.

I don't see it, honestly. Lindgren has a win among half a dozen podium appearances including, from memory and without checking, one at Cardiff. That's enough of a record to stick in the minds of most people, particularly British fans given the number of years he has ridden here.

I took that to be a reference to finishing position over the course of a full season. I believe KK has a second-place finish overall where FL's best is (I believe) eighth.

This is desperately sad news. I think we had been hoping for the best while preparing for the worst, but it still comes as something of a shock. Very difficult to find appropriate words having only just heard the news. What to say? Bryn was just a great guy, full of kindness and spark, a speedway fan (and Welshman!) through and through. Back in the day when I was covering Wolves for the E&S I had to arrange press facilities at the various tracks and Bryn was the person I dealt with at Lakeside. He was endlessly efficient and kind (Lakeside was easily the best organised track for visiting press, you could see where it came from) and I always used to pop into the office to say hello and get the craic! I don't know if Carys and Andy follow the BSF at all but at some future date when they are able to draw breath and pick up the threads of their lives it may be of some comfort to them to read the personal memories already flowing onto the site from Dean, daytripper and so on. It would tell them something they may not have known, about the affection and regard with which Bryn was held in speedway circles, and something of which they were already aware, about what a great bloke he was. RIP Bryn.

Right oh. Fair play, foreverblue, 'tis no doubt a post which will have been taken down and may be used in evidence against you later!

Ah, the old "automatic spell check after I posted" routine!

Bit harsh...

Fine by me, there's nothing private in the information. I believe from earlier posts by VV and the like that the ward information had been published anyway and the rest is just looking up the full address.

You're missing the point. It's one thing to say 'I think Poole will be in the play-offs because Kasprzak will be a good No.1, we have strength through the order, Klindt's a bargain on his average and we should always look strong at reserve' or whatever and make a case. It's another to say off-handedly 'you can be sure KK won't be found wanting in the important meetings like the play-offs'. History tells us that Poole, far more often than not, reach the play-offs, a point I made in the original post for goodness' sake. Could well be, the BSPA figures are rolling averages.
-
Really? I had a quick look through the BSPA archives and didn't notice that. But it was a quick look and I may well have missed it. What year, please?

Not at all. Are you guaranteeing it will, which is surely the correct inference to draw from your post? I'm saying it's a bit presumptuous to assume any side will before a wheel has turned.
