HaHa, and lashings of ginger Beer presumably, you monkie and frumpylion must light up the town when you meet up for the half of bitter ( very apt ). Tis called entertainment, which O.K. Scunthorpe is possibly not best renowned for, however..... For those at Rye tonite probably an insight into what the lad can offer - even Rye fans stopped to watch and applauded. I hope you did not watch the GP tonite, a lot of Johnny Foreigner's in there, don't know how they get away with it - beats me why Sky even bother to televise it with only the one Brit in. Adam Portwood has developed vey well over the last season - has earned his chance on merit - and will continue to under the guidance of possibly the best promotional development team that has existed for many a year - I would put money on a few of the next GB stars being brought through via Mildy, will no doubt give you something else to whinge about then .
-
Had 3 rides, both against Hopwood and Strudwick. Certainly proved he could gate - won 2 and Hopwood won the third. A track that catches a few out he looked quite comfortable - couldn't believe how many stopped to watch him.

Haven't seen Cameron info confirmed anywhere and not on BSPA site at moment but if he doesn't have relevant credentials as per rules fair do's. Responding back from post from one of the threesome Monkey at Scunthorpe's post, have enjoyed watching Nelson at Rye very hit and miss but exciting to watch, and will make the higher levels unquestionably - Tai was the same. Love to read from interests from the various promotions. Jayne I went to see young Morris and Branford last year and they were well worth the gate money, presumably you ensured that they would follow the Team GB route in future, otherwise it would look to the outsider that this dual patriality route - whilst being within the rules - was just a cynical ploy to suit Buxton and not to secure a future GB World Champ. Malcolm, glad you had the chance to manage young Taylor last year puts bums on seats doesn't he - just as he did at Mildenhall, and a good drawcard at away tracks. Suspect Cameron will make the Ippo side next season, not a problem there - great coup by Chris, Mike and kevin - but he will I am sure be the first of many who will benefit from the Ippo/Mildy set up. adam portwood getting an early chsnce shows the improvements these guys have fostered already. Thank goodness we have promoters writing the rules, otherwise we would have a sport governed by jealously and self interest. Turkey's voting for Xmas naah Question for the anoraks, who in the NL has the combined youngest age total squad this year? Suspect Mildy must be there or there abouts.

Cheers for the footage Dave. He only did 8 laps but looked very smooth on Sunday, needs to practice his wheelies though Thankfully there are a lot more Speedway supporters in the U.K. who will appreciate him than the odd few numpty's

Quality over quantity maybe? You and your love buddies ought to try it.

Oh dear, oh dear, another subscriber to the Twats gazette. Let me guess maybe an interest or affiliation ( A-FIL-E-A-SHONE ) to or with Scunthorpe somewhere along the line maybe?. There is the possibilty that paperwork has to be processed by the BSPA? which is why he didn't ride, or jet lag after arriving late Thursday - but that does not fit your rant so let's ignore eh! If he does not have the neccesary qualifications ( sorry for the big word ) then he won't get clearance to ride, but we get to see him after meetings - shame for the tracks that we visit though, I would have thought more people through the turnstiles ( for you "gate" ) would have been welcome. P.S.Capital letters to start sentences can be used either by pressing the Caps Lock or the key underneath with the little arrow, and ask teacher for lessons in grammar. One question needs only 1 question mark really, but perhaps counting is not a skill either
-
Can't disagree with that although at NL you are looking at a lot of riders in their formative years and limited resources, often too family members as mechanic who perhaps ( not all cases ) do not have the in depth experience to set bikes up to suit. Interesting yesterday, Barry struggled and he is not having a bad season & David Mason who both know Mildy well.

Fair comment Waco, always interested to hear the other side of the story - in Ht 15 presumably Ben still had his engine running so technically still under power.
-
JJ quite superb, gating much sharper and coming through the pack. Solid team performance today, Aaron Baseby superb beat Barry twice and looked quick Lewis gets better each week + Dan & Jack both desreved more points than they got. Track was excellent with plenty of grip which seemed to catch RH out, despite the scoreline meeting was good with plenty of passing with Ben Morley the pick of the bunch for Rye who were also unlucky to lose Shane Hazelden in Heat 2. Was looking forward to seeing how he handled West Row after his good start to the season - hope his injury nothing serious. Referee had us scratching our heads a couple of times, interested in any bodies else take. Heat 11 Jack Hargreaves in Front coming up to 3rd bend and Ben Morley appeared to go for a gap between Jack and the fence that was not there, collected the fence yet Jack excluded - Waco probably has a view from Ben but from where we sat looked harsh. Then Heat 15 3rd bend Dan Halsey behind but trying to get round Ben overcooked on turn 3 and slid off, with no interference Ben then came off on bend 4 after which the red lights came on - only Dan excluded, Ben was allowed in the restart? Good crowd with plenty from Rye, and great to finally see Cameron on a bike.

Looking forward to seeing him Dave, if he is anything like the other young uns that have come over he will put bums on seats and add excitement.
-
No, your posts appear designed to provoke and have gems such as "There is no other track in the Country with just an armco fence" which is totally incorrect <removed>
-
You obviously have a hang up about Mildenhall - first it was the safety fence now this. Stick to the threads on your own team if you have nothing constructive to say. <personal abuse removed>
-
1) Not just an Armco fence then is it? 2) If it is approved by the governing bodies then obviously it does something or the track would not be allowed to run. No matter what track this happened on it would still have resulted in a serious injury due to a) The position on the track and The high speed of the crash, John did well to get off the back just before he hit.
-
Regrettably this country now breeds some people who's main pleasure in life is to criticise and whinge. To make such a statement you must have been to all other tracks in the country - shame you must have missed Mildenhall or you would have seen that it has a wooden fence around the track. Putting your remarks on a thread that is for an update on an injured rider is hardly appropriate.
-
Get a life the pair of you, and show a bit of respect when a young lad is still in his hospital bed. I would hazard a guess that neither of you were there so have not the slightest idea what you are talking about, an accident in that spot on track and that speed would have had a similar result at most tracks - ala Darren Mallet at Kings Lynn a couple of months back- shall we close the Norfolk Arena down as well? It's a dangerous sport, if you don't like it don't go - if you look at the injuries that occur around the sport I bet Mildenhall's record is no worse than most. Do the riders like it? probably has some of the best closest racing in the U.K. which would not be the case if it was a track to be scared of.
-
Take your points, but in this case the "criticisms" seem to have had the desired effect, Nick was very unlucky not to have had 3 paid wins ( after not looking remotely like beating anybody in his previous meetings ) and JJ looked back to his old self with a superb maximum. Haven't read the Star so have not read the article, quite often there is also the question of what context quotes were made in, or the editing process - although not saying this is the case here. Hope Nick carries on from here, is a good lad with good equipment but probably too laid back for his own good - just maybe this will kickstart his career again. To be honest Bagpuss I wouldn't expect the manager of a non standalone team to rollover and accept a hiding either, I don't think that is really the issue here. HT, Nick must be the rare exceptional person you refer to - good time to make your point I don't think that Messers Brundle and JJ were immune from Mike Lee's annoyance either so possibly not the best time to include them in your argument As per Waco best wishes to John Resch, bad accident at high speed after picking up some drive on the 3/4 bend, get well soon mate.

Any young rider who wants to progress I would suggest would have no better people in the U.K. to learn from. Last meeting there were the most young riders for a second half I can recall for many a long while, tells it's own story I suggest. There is another side to it - harden the youngsters up from an early age and instill the killer competitive edge - look at the Aussie's throw them in the deep end and they will swim to the top or drown, doesn't seem to have harmed Messer's Crump, Holder, Ward, North, Poole etc. If e.g. JJ or Nick or any other rider is not performing but showboating it is quite right that they are told, if a bit of criticism affects them that much then maybe they are in the wrong sport - I suspect both are stronger characters than that. Also remember that the supporters pay the wages, and expect to see riders perform - look at the EL / PL forums and see the whingeing of individual riders - I would rather hear from Promoters etc how they see it and what action will be taken if things are not rectified. There should be no comfort zone.
-
As I said, always the odd one suspect clubs like Man U would get a crowd for the opening of a door. However, maybe more representative? http://mcfcreservesandacademy.co.uk/everton-home-0708/ Few good names in there too Pro-rata to that Speedway probably stands up quite well.

Whilst I understand why the thread this is old ground that has been done to death. "Wobblers" is perhaps unfair, they are really riders who are in far too early - 1 year later after putting in the effort they will be better prepared and better judged. Well run second halves at tracks is the answer to progression, or indeed acadamies. Any supporter who wants to watch young English riders also have the chance to watch at training schools. Also Southern Track Riders etc. There are no level playing fields - look at reserves who have the luxury of staying at reserve for most of the season, Garrity, knight this year and there were others last beating heat leaders on a regular basis which makes the "early learners look worse than they are. Is a matter of personal desires - and finance. Is great to see the youngsters come through, but has to be good entertainment, look at e.g. Rye forum where people a) Can't afford two meetings or Want to watch competitive racing and that in the main answers your question. As a parallel, football is no different most people want to see us produce the next Rooney and Beckham but attendances for Youth / Reserve games - except for the odd clubs - are a mere fraction of first team games.

Belle Vue Vs. Mildenhall (nl)
norwichkev replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in National League Speedway
Not sure you are correct on this one Tina, the Elite and Premier forums seem to be holding up well. Small attendances at the tracks who field a second team seem to bear out the interest in this level of the sport. as examples The total nonsense and lack of ability to sort out the farce that sees reserves take 7 rides a meeting over a long period - this year Garrity, Hazeldene and Knight and possible Heeps if he gets over squeezes out the place for the young coming through Brits and takes away interest. Taking out the flair of young up and coming Aussies / Scandanavians etc takes a further slice of interest away - simple, keep reserve slots for young Brits only, that will start the conveyor belt rolling and give people something to post about. I weren't at the meeting so can't comment, although looking at the updates there does not appear to have been a lot of passing, you would have been at Mildenhall Sunday and after the first few heats would have seen quite a bit of passing from both sets of riders, that is what will bring the crowds back - not just Belle Vue, Rye House has had it's share of meetings with little passing. Maybe explaining to fans where it went wrong, and how it will be put right for future would be more likely to bring people back rather than just accepting it? Like yours, Halifax's is an opinion, thats what starts debate - you answered - and surely that is what forum's are? Kev -
Mildenhall V Belle Vue - Sunday 8th May
norwichkev replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
Why would you not believe it? If he did not have dual patriality he could not ride in the NL anyway. The latter is I believe now deceased, so there could be an availability issue, although International terrorists I believe come in on an average of 666 so could probably only fit in at the likes of Poole or Coventry at reserve -

Is it not dual patriality? If so I would suspect he would still have Australian hurdles to jump - frustrating for us but great to see a country that cares who comes in and out of their borders, add to that their winning mentality and we have a lot to learn. Great to see the learning starting at West Row, maybe we can roll it out to the rest of the U.K.. Kev -

Think could be a close one, BV very unlucky at Rye House on Saturday especially over the last 3 heats - and that was without Garrity, fancy they would have won by a few had he have been there. Could be a good one for the neutrals, Bekker knows his way around West Row and all of the others chipped in with some good rides. Haven't heard any update on Cameron yet - is he here yet? -
Where Now For The Heathens?

100% right Jayne, a point I made 18 months ago about Mildenhall - where is Malcolm when you need him? -
Mildenhall Fen Tigers V Dudley Heathens
norwichkev replied to PhilK's topic in National League Speedway
Looking forward to this one. A good test for an exciting new era at Mildenhall, thanks to Chris, Michael, Kevin and Rob for a) reviving Mildenhall and b)showing the way forward for British Speedway. Dudley look good and Armo will be a miss, although Barrie is a superb replacement - he didn't look fast at Rye but still comfortably went through the card. Roynan when I have seen him has been quality and rides West Row well, should be riding at a higher level now, Ashley Morris too has impressed when I have seen him. Shame about Cameron, how can we have lots of illegals getting in here yet "paperwork" holds up a legitimate? Not the first one either. Block up the tunnel and bring back the Commonwealth - mock ye not - no more snails or horse but a lovely joint of lamb. Also just remember when you take the extra "Royal Bank holiday", the rest of Europe gets in extra days holiday for WW2 - we won it and get sod all! How does that work? Traditionalists come to Mildy, actually hear bikes as they should be - those PC then make it your mission and sell the new silencers to the USAF and keep everybody happy. And Malcolm, we were stunning in the 6 - 0 against Scunthorpe but still a bit to do. Cheers Kev
