  1. Trust you must be on a wind up - see you follow Belle Vue, no Brits in first 2012 declared team + a few questionable no marks - good one Agree with Vince we should be grateful for many of the unsung behind the scenes people who put a lot into our sport. Kev
  2. Bit strong! Without the likes of Kelvin many youngsters would be lost to the sport - you might not agree with him but that is anybody's prerogative. In a country where we ship in 300,000 odd foreigners a year, most whom I doubt very much have any allegiance to the U.K. and no doubt taking the jobs of young Brits taking the moral high ground about one guy who allegedly has patriality seems a bit OTT. No doubt in Australia there is a major row over the likes of Joe Jacobs riding over there again this winter, although that I very much doubt - they will get on with it and raise their level trying to beat him. Look at the PL and EL, full of British riders - not - sad fact is clubs seem just as likely to look for foreign riders to the exclusion of Brits. Best of luck to Pascall if he can get a ride here alongside the likes of Adam Ellis who is no different, and rather than take the negative view maybe ask wider questions why such a young talent like Robert Lambert needs to ride abroad in an effort to better himself. Kev
  3. If you mean Halifax Tiger - don't tell anyone , I keep it low key , have got me street cred to keep up. Same to you Tony and best wishes for a good 2013. Cheers Kev
  4. Good point, I suspect that it will be down to juggling around points now that JJ has gone to get the best balance from the riders available - would make sense in my view to get the complete 1-7 nailed down and released en masse as suggested by PhilK on Fb, looks like an excellent decision by Promotion not to have rushed an early declaration and then had to do an about turn. Don't think there is any immediate deadline before riders have to be sanctioned by BSPA. I would suspect that the riders definitely confirmed are already signed up. Kev
  5. Cant see it Damon, Kerr meant to be PL Leicester bound if Fb info is correct would be a heck of a long tail to start the season with 1 heat leader I suspect that there are a few surprises on the way, CL has obviously sanctioned the JJ move so I am sure he has all in hand. Kev
  6. Probably as British as Byron Bekker Although that probably won't suit your point as the BSPA sanctioned both would suggest they must be. Kev
  7. O.K. well you hear things but you just don't appear to understand the words, thinks its a common genetic womanly thing have heard of this a few times - speaking of cutlery shouldn't you be washing some?
  8. Surprised you think you recognise him because he plays in the Premiership for the pride of East Anglia OTBC
  9. Fair comments, read the disclaimer but a bit PC IMO as this is a discussion forum and don't see that any rider would be unsettled by us lot or choose our career advice. At NL level every penny whilst invaluable for youngsters & family is hopefully not the main driving force behind decisions, not aware that Mildy are splashing out mega money seems more rider development focused. I suspect that the likes of Josh & Nathan want to be at Mildy because of the opportunities to work with, and learn from, the many years of experience etc of the promotion which will hopefully give them an excellent grounding and launch them into long term successful careers in the sport. Interesting that Swindon were instrumental in moving Ritchings from Dudley, who did an excellent job for him, to a larger track to make him a more rounded rider which whilst unfortunate for Dudley has to be applauded for development and career planning. Kev
  10. Coming from someone who on the KL 2013 thread on 16th Sept posted an aspirational team of: 1. Iversen 8.79 2. Szczepaniak 5.19 3. Allen 5.77 4. Proctor 5.69 5. Schlein 7.23 6. Wolbert 5.03 7. Eklof 3.00 Probably a bit rich but there again maybe not, because wouldn't suit your chance to have a little dig. Smell the coffee bud this is a forum for opinions, many opposing supporters in the NL would like JJ etc makes me proud that he is riding well enough to be wanted. If Mildy can't fit him in the 1 - 7 or he feels that he needs experience elsewhere then best of luck to him, it's a short career with a limited time to progress. It's a simple sport really build a team under the points limit and want the best mix possible for your team, presumably you will want to keep the same 7 you had last year - but then it falls further apart Hazeldene is now at KL from Rye House so presumably you won't be cheering him on then . Kev
  11. If your eyesights that bad no wonder you thought Roynon was the innocent party in Ht 15
  12. Coming from a set up that has The Insider, Terry Pratchett and Shouty B*!!*x on the management side I can understand why you have an inherent mistrust of people - not sure there is a cure bud. Bit concerned your promotion are going soft though, have seen no Official complaint mentioned on the website - shouldn't we have the first one for the 2013 season soon, only 3/4 months to tapes up. Have heard M.Lee might be in trouble for releasing details of the Queens speech in which she asks for Peace and goodwill to all men, a wooly hat for Phillip, continued world domination for the Fen Tigers and a permanent new home for Dudley Speedway............................ preferably in Poland, Sweden or Russia. Made some of that up, was actually a beanie she wanted for Phil. Fair play though for being proactive, allegedly while we were writing Christmas cards you were writing to other riders, anymore responses yet? Lewis on that average a very good signing for you one problem though could be his catchphrase Happy Days, is there a local word for happy? Will be an interesting season methinks with a number of well balanced sides. Kev
  13. Agree, but with the very limited amount of meetings at this level would it not be more beneficial for any rider to have more exposure to other tracks and Managerial set ups? Kev
  14. With the current poor support from the club faithful do you not think it possible that a successful team challenging for the title would bring in better crowds. Also in my view riders in a successful team are more likely to improve at a higher rate. Secondly aren't all leagues about progressing riders Pl up to EL, EL to GP? Not picking on any riders, and no criticisms intended but agree the Jake Knight sentiments but are Darren Mallett and Adam Lowe & Scott Campos likely to kick on to PL if they remain at KL - maybe moves elsewhere would offer new challenges. Maybe for the NL a cap of say 3 years at any one NL track in a career would be beneficial to development? Kev
  15. Rob, Can understand where you are coming from but not convinced that rigid pay terms would fix anything. If he who pays most wins that has to be even more prevalent as you move up the leagues, are you suggesting e.g Scunthorpe pay the highest rates in the PL? If allegedly Dudley are the big bad boys in paying OTT what did they win last year? so hardly worked there. The clubs with second teams surely should have the advantage as they have the carrot to move NL riders up into the main teams, give them extra rides after the PL meetings etc - most standalone tracks do not have either of those facilities. Is not one of the real reasons that in these financially difficult times supporters of the 2 tier clubs cannot afford to support both sides - possibly more double headers with these clubs could be the answer? would spread the cost across a wider support base and also bring in the traveling fans at a higher price. Can NL riders now be contracted to a club? If not why not - that would stop this so called tapping up or there would be a financial implication. How many of last years Scunny NL side were contracted? if none then a) why could a rider not move if he so chooses and what long term were Scunny offering the riders. Also reading the thread suggesting that Swindon were looking for one of their riders to get more experience on bigger tracks, riders surely have to take that into account as they develop. NL is a good product and produced some cracking racing last year, it should be no different in structure to the rest of the leagues - NL should be a feeder to the PL and the PL should be a feeder to the EL - until the sport puts it right at the top it will never produce a grounding for British riders. Kev
  16. Think new rules & regs kicked around on the forum could well surface for next season, possibly on Double up riders & e.g. a 1 over the 8 point rider per team. Would love to have them all back. Cam I think will concentrate full time P/L, JJ & Stef talked about as reserves on the Ippo forum, Lewis & Leicester didn't work well for us this year so again could be full time P/L & Dan falls in that difficult 6.5 ish bracket that is always hard to use. However, assuming a 40 point limit best balanced I can come up with: Stef 8.32 JJ 7.94 Rob Branford 7.54 Josh 5.30 Shane Hazelden 4.57 Nathan 3.00 R.Daley / J.Graver / A.N.Other 3.00 39.67 Several riders I would love to see @ West Row including Gary Irving, Lewis Kerr, Adam Ellis and of course Mr.Garrity but can't see any of those happening. Kev
  17. 1) As I said both teams allegedly looked at using him as a number 8 - he had scored 19+1 at KL for IOW explain to me how in anybody's eyes Adam turning up for either side could be a fair move? As rules stand I believe it has to be an unattached rider which in my view is fair and correct. No idea how you used Fenwick. 2) In a lot of these cases it is not difficult, yes the Ref has to make a judgement call but that is what he is there for - some they may get wrong but a majority I suspect they will get right. At the moment he can call after 2 laps?, quite rightly cannot be called earlier than that but there is far more of the deliberately getting the race stopped now and in my view it needs to be stamped out. Kev
  18. I would keep Ht 15, often the best race of the night and pivotal to the meeting for the Match points etc. I think the 3.00 rule as it is is spot on for 2 reasons a) as an example according to reports both Mildenhall & Dudley looked at using Adam Ellis in the League decider meetings, that cannot be right It gives unattached British riders a chance to gain experience and put themselves in the shop window. I would like this staying down when falling off disease stamped out. In my view it is cheating - end of, Issue with a yellow card & fine for the first offence. If we stamp this out early enough it may filter up to the higher leagues. In an ideal world I would like referee's to have access to video as standard, but due to cost that is not going to happen - and as a by product gives us frequently something to argue about. Averages I would take a different view from most in an effort to resolve. a) Include all Cup / Trophy / League Matches . Issue first averages 1st June and then every month thereafter regardless of how many fixtures in each Month - fixture lists are I believe set by the controlling body? so there can be influence from the start to even out where possible and prevent any possible manipulations. I understand that this is not perfect but has to be better than the current, can see no harm in trialing for one season. Start of the season how about cap each team on double up riders to 2? should even out Team building. Maybe if as season progresses a Team has 2 non number 1's riding PL then a guest facility for the lower averaged with R/R as the other. Kev
  19. As per your earlier post in your opinion you are the champions - Happy days for you then then and all others who do not believe in the play offs. Cannot believe some of the whingeing by folks on here, move on. One question here: Speedway should be about entertainment, with 8 teams in the NL the season even with rain offs the season could have been finishes by mid September - what do you suggest clubs do then? Have meaningless friendlies? The NL Trophy has little interest to most so you will have a 7 months season with maybe 10 Home fixtures - is that seriously what supporters want? Always easy for anybody to criticise, maybe some thought into the overall might be a better approach maybe. Kev
  20. From the updates take the point you are trying to make, although riding with an experienced head could perhaps be a better description - trying too hard is how riders will learn, toodling around at the back won't. At 16 and in his first season of course he has a lot to learn, is exceptionally quick and will get it right. Has experienced mentors around him who will guide him, judging by comments from Mildy fans who were there it was a far more controlled performance in the second meeting. Kev
  21. Can't see how Ellis can be eligible, as you said last night IOW still have 1 meeting to ride and is therefore attached to another club. As a speedway fan wouldn't you prefer a last heat decider? Kev
  22. Set up for a good meeting, hope Tom is O.K. Should be a good turnout from both sets of supporters, fancy this one to run all the way to the end - but with TR's think Dudley could edge it, although Mildy never seem to know when they are beaten. Kev Kev
  23. Fair comment, well done to Dudley tonite. Missed the meeting but sounds like a tricky track due to the weather conditions. Is set up well for tomorrow assuming you are correct on a 3 pointer that doesn't include e.g. an attempt at slight of hand with somebody like Ellis - not suggesting for one minute that your promotion are that desperate, but hey this is speedway. Fair play to Kings Lynn for allowing use of their facilities - whoever comes out on top on the track deserves the title. Shame though that no Heeps, Blackbird, Perry or Becker. Kev
  24. Understand what you are saying HT, but TBF I like many others including your good self speculate on most things - we do not know the facts, nor are privvy to hidden paperwork etc, etc ( excepting the deliberate "leaks" that are fed out, similar to politics ) An oft used phrase "in the best interests of Speedway" springs to mind and I suspect is bought into play ( seems to be more prevalent in the Elite ) and love him ( not seen many ) or hate him somebody like Peter Morrish has an exceptionally difficult role to perform - could any of us do any better though? Rules throughout Speedway after 80+ years are still over complicated and exceptionally loose and open to manipulation in what is basically a very simple sport, and will continue to be so until there is a step change in structure. Kev
  25. Think you are spot on. Weather and injuries have played a major part this year, would love to have seen both first choice 7's in final meetings. Whoever wins what is a long time until next March. Lets hope both promotions are still running in 2013. Kev
