Hi again everyone! As the AGM is taking place and we are expecting to hear of fixed race nights I thought I'd update the stats that I used when starting this thread. Back in August as my original post stated only 25 out of 117 Championship matches were 7 Home riders versus 7 Away riders (IE NO Rider Replacement and NO Guest riders) SINCE THEN (63 MATCHES LATER) ONLY 2 (TWO) MATCHES DID NOT CONTAIN RIDER REPLACEMENT AND/OR GUESTS. Yep, the totals for the season stand at only 27 out of 180. Whilst acknowledging that some form of coverage for injury is unfortunately required in our dangerous sport here's hoping that something can be dragged kicking and screaming from the AGM which will stop this constant Home Select v. Away Select joke that we have had inflicted on us this year.

Newcastle Doubble Header 22 October
Boothers replied to mike7164's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Ha ha ha! My favourite post of all time. Jacob Bukhave/Tai Woffinden. You couldn't make it up! I just hope it pees down on the nights of our scheduled matches because no-one under any circumstances should be forced to turn out without a team. Bloody ridiculous! -
Yes. Going by issue 43 of the averages. Bewley for Garrity and a 2 pointer for Ayres would come to 39.95 so assuming 40 point limit of course. We do still have 2 away fixtures to fulfil so this could change (as both are away fixtures would expect our averages to drop slightly (?) possibly giving more leeway.) PS can we please stop this inane 'your track is more dangerous than our track' garbage. All Speedway tracks are inherently dangerous - it's the nature of the sport in case you hadn't noticed!

Newcastle V Redcar 3/9/17
Boothers replied to RedcarB123's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Sums up the full state of British speedway! It's very fast going down the pan and the state of the 'banter' on here is accelerating ahead of it. Even people from other teams who's posts I've appreciated over the years have sunk to personal, unwarranted jibes against other people. Sad, sad state. -

Redcar V Sheffield Friday

Hate to see 2 teams utilising r/r. In the 'good old days' (Crikey - sound like an old man (Who said 'You are'?)) when there were enough riders to go round r/r used to be cancelled out and both sides had to promote juniors. Also whatever happened to compulsory #8's. Neither side appears to have named a #8 (just waiting to see if anyone with a bike turns up tonight?). If no #8's are named it only takes 1 unfortunate incident early in proceedings to end up with 3 or even 2 men races later on. Seasons can hinge on such minor points. -

Hi everyone. Just a thread to poke my head above the barricade ready to be shot down. I have no point to prove but those who know me (either personally or from Boothers Bend on the Redcar fans forum) will know I'm an anally retentive anorak who loves messing with stats. Been a speedway fan since 1973 and although I've enjoyed quite a few Individual meetings my first love has always been team speedway - our 7 versus your 7. There's nothing like a good speedway team match to turn this 58 year old into a fist pumping maniac (or even to shed the odd tear truth be told). Unfortunately of late the concept of 'our 7 versus your 7' seems to be disappearing. So I've had a little look. As always - these figures are my own, totally unofficial and are therefore liable to be wrong (but I'll stand by them!) So far this year there have been 117 Championship matches. Of these matches only 25 have had 7 home riders versus 7 away riders by which I mean both sides have turned up with 7 contracted riders and not used a Guest facility or Rider Replacement. 25 out of 117. 136 Guests have been used in 117 meetings. Rider Replacement has been used 45 times. Teams have used 3 Guests in a single meeting on no less than 7 occasions (and on 3 of those occasions the team concerned also utilised Rider Replacement) Whilst Berwick's nightmare season with injuries has skewed these figures somewhat through no fault of their own, where is the consistency? Cheers , Boothers (Be kind to me)

Who has been handled differently by the Redcar Promotion/Management team to any others previously. I'd say it's paying off at the moment!

Redcar V Scunthorpe 13-7-17
Boothers replied to RedcarB123's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Err...like to help out but basically statistically Ryan is very average around Redcar. 9 matches, 45 points for a STMP average of 4.09. He's had 8 matches here for Scunny and had 6 heat wins, so I'm afraid he must have had 2 meetings without a win. One will probably have been the 'mare of a meeting he had here (last year?) where he rode the same day that he'd arrived from Australia, ended up with 7 rides but don't know if he scored a point? Still I know what you mean, he always seems to be on the pace and in the mix and you always think he's scored the points his efforts deserved. -

Workington Team Changes......
Boothers replied to Midget's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yeah. I'll go along with that. Wright is a completely different rider from the one we saw previously and Proctor would probably be a different proposition if he'd been riding at the MPA (we did try to fit him in! Both would have been nice, but greedy) Stats are rubbish, but it's what I do. Passes my time and some other people seem to be interested. Just double checked anyway and there's only been 70 riders ridden more than 6 matches this year (barring guesting) so my top 20 seems a bit of a waste anyway - still keep on doing it though! -
Workington Team Changes......
Boothers replied to Midget's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yeah! This is what makes me laugh. People come on here at the beginning of every season bleating on about how so and so is gonna put 2 points on his average and Joe Bloggs is a certainty to put 3 on his. I (unofficially) do some stats for Redcar Speedway including the Fans Forum. One of the stats I like to produce is a list at the end of each month of the top 20 'Most Improved Riders' based on the riders season starting official MA compared to my unofficial current average. For the last 3 years or so you would have had to put 1 point (yes 1 single point) on your starting average to guarantee a place in this Top 20. This year (the year the League has been diluted down and everyone including Tom Cobbley was going to increase their average) as of the end of May (been on holiday and not quite caught up yet) then an increase of 0.75 points gets you in. Josh Bates is 20th with an increase of 0.77. People seem to have high expectations without a full grasp of the requirements. I think Proctor and Jorgensen are doing a fine job and along with the efforts of Matt Williamson I suspect you'll make the playoffs. -
I'm not a fan but would give him a go. However the more important aspect of the changes at Rye is the dropping of Ellis Perks to be 'replaced' by Ben Barker. Can't be a good thing in the Redcar pits surely?

Averaged 2.81 for Redcar this season, so shouldn't be too difficult!

Redcar Half Team V Glasgow Strong Team
Boothers replied to oldywonkenoldi's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So as a cost saving exercise Redcar Speedway will not actually be running any more speedway meetings this year. Instead we'll phone Neil Vatcher on Thursday lunchtime and ask him what that evenings result should be. I know there are a lot of neutrals out there who think this is acceptable but please think - if this was your team would you be happy? There could be serious repercussions from this decision (already seen Facebook comments from people we can't afford to lose). What with this decision and 'I think I'll take a week off' Auty - joke sport. Zero credibility. And this isn't sour grapes - if it had been announced on Thursday night that Heat 10 had been awarded 0-5 to Glasgow a few people might have moaned a little but it would have been accepted. But no -referee states otherwise, official website states RESULT DOES NOT STAND for four days. 44 years of watching speedway and I'm questioning why I bother. Well I'm not really - 4 blokes roaring round with no brakes risking life and limb. But a serious 'sport'? Get a life! -

OK didn't realise it was 'handicapped'. Ellis hasn't (unfortunately) had that many meetings of late either which probably doesn't help. Just wondered. No harm done
