  1. No idea Mate but KeithM's correct it was shown in this weeks tv listings.
  2. Travelodge Cardiff (you know the one above Walkabout) available this morning for £70 (and it's on the flexible rate so fully cancellable). Only snag is it's pay up front.
  3. Don't hold your breath - I too thought I'd booked a reasonably priced 3 bedroom apartment through laterooms (also with option to cancel) a fortnight ago. When I hadn't received confirmation after a week I contacted them with the booking enquiry number I'd been given only to find that I hadn't got a booking after all - the apartments hadn't actually released the rooms for next year or even decided on a price! I'm afraid your booking enquiry may prove worthless
  4. Would be nice to show the Veterans on parade a bit of British support. I hope they get a great reception.
  5. Team Sooty Racing (all 5 of us - well 10 if you count the glove-puppets ) are staying in some 'posh' apartments up Cathedral Road.
  6. Team Sooty Racing will be in attendance
  7. Two years ago we stopped in Newport and trained in and out of Cardiff on the Saturday. Getting back to Newport on the train after the GP was highly organised as each departing train had a separate queue organised OUTSIDE the station and you were only allowed onto the platforms when the trains were ready. However if you remember two years ago it was hoying it down with rain and there was no cover for the queues which were in effect in the station car-park. As we were already soaked to the skin walking to the station the 45 minutes spent in the queue didn't really make things all that worse although we had already by that point vowed never to do it again and hence have paid the exorbitant Cardiff hotel prices since then (we'd book a taxi if staying in Newport in future). I'm not sure about last year - I think I read that some of the last trains out of Cardiff may have been cancelled but can't comment for certain (although we had problems returning to the North East on the Sunday after the GP as there was 'maintenance' being carried out between Cardiff/Manchester which meant a long bus journey, missed connections and an unwanted detour via Darlington).
  8. Very windy, which fortunately seems to be blowing the rains away. If it stays dry it will however be very, very cold so wrap up well
  9. Is one of the 'tunes' HeathenBaggie looking for "Oh Fortuna" from "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff?
  10. Main winner this weekend will be J D Wetherspoon
  11. Five friendly Redcar Bears fans doing our second British GP. Last year was all a bit last minute and we bussed down on Saturday morning to Newport, dumped our bags in the smallest hotel bedrooms I have ever been in, grabbed a bite to eat at a Wetherspoons and trained into Cardiff. Visited just a couple of the local hostelries before the GP and then stood 45 minutes in the pouring rain in a queue OUTSIDE the railway station for the last train back to Newport. This year we've got it right - going Friday and stopping at the Holiday Inn. So if anyone sees 'Team Sooty Racing' please feel free to say hello! Oh, I'll be the old, grey, deaf one doing a very passable Rowley Birkin impression
  12. Yes and if you're in the 5 team group it's only from your first three home and away matches ! And what happens as in the case of last night where Birmingham were not able to hold Heat 15 of their match due to curfew? Does Heat 14 therefore become Heat 15 or do neither side score? Also Heat 15 normally features each teams two best performers on the night and not necessarily the top two riders for that team (although quite often that is the case) we therefore have the possibility of riders scoring qualifying points for a competition they will have no chance of riding in. Tying that into last nights non Heat 15 where the riders involved were Adam Roynon, Tommy Allen, Rob Mear and Jack Hargreaves. If Birmingham and/or Rye House qualify I hardly think (with no disrespect to the riders mentioned) that they will be automatic team picks for the Best Pairs final.

  15. No blame David. Appreciate what is being done and as stated before we know the money is going to a good cause. (Would still appreciate the chance to do something like this however the winning bids on the auctions I've seen so far this year put these things way out of reach of the average fan - and (unusually for me ) it seems I'm not the only one - maybe something for future fund raisers to think on) Looking forward to the meeting - 4 of us coming down from Middlesbrough with a stop in Leeds to pick my son up!
  16. Nice gesture and I hope it raises a lot of money on Garry's behalf... but.... just wish these things were done on a raffle basis as opposed to a highest bidder wins auction giving the 'average' fan a chance of winning it. Sure there must be a few fans who would find an extra fiver if it gave them 5 £1 chances of winning, and wouldn't 500 £1 tickets sold be better than a winning £350 bid (or whatever?) Still I applaud Mr. Ackroyd for his generosity
  17. Go on Semion - you know you want to - all those last heat deciders, and I'm sure you'd fit right in here ...or is that too presumtious of me?
  18. Again I make no apologies for defending my team. I apologise for my presumptiousness ( Good Grief !) And yes as a matter of fact it is!
  19. I make no apologies for defending my team in these circumstances. You and the majority of other posters on this thread would do exactly the same if it was your team being crapped on from a great height (despite what some of you say!) The dropping of Redcar and the understrength teams fielded by some of the other 'qualifiers' has devalued this meeting, however I hope it does go ahead - I'd be happy to see the back of it - and I hope that the best team (in attendance on the day) wins. There, I've dealt with it
  20. Mr. Chapman was not too keen on discussing the success of the Super7even events when I almost literally bumped into him in the Millenium Stadium immediately after Chris Harris' stunning success on Saturday night. One quick look at my "THE REDCAR 4 ARE INNOCENT" T-shirt and he showed gating skills that Chris can only dream of
  21. I've presented facts and figures to show why Redcar should be in the Fours, you've said 'Your not in it so lump it' Reasoned debate ???
  22. Nowhere in my post have I blamed Mr. Chapman personally for the non inclusion of the Bears however when the Super7evens were introduced he was quite happy to be presented as the 'public face' of the series and he was the one willing to come on this forum and explain (?) the original qualification process. As such he should therefore also be willing to explain now on behalf of the commitee why the qualification rules have been totally ignored for the restaging of the event.
