The relevance of World Titles has always been subjective. Hans Nielsen wasn't in the 1992 final, and nobody sane believed Havelock was a better rider than him. Ole Olsen wasn't in the 1976 final but I doubt Peter Collins is bothered. Sayfutdinov finished 3rd a couple of times without ever really looking like he was going to win a title. And Laguta put together an unbelievable 'Dave Norris' type season last year when he'd struggled for top 8 previously. Zmarzlik has 5 medals in 6 GP seasons which suggests he's worthy. It could be worse, we could go back to that ridiculous system that garnered Rickardsson a couple of titles where he only had to do 4 rides off gate 1 in every GP.

Should we be worried that the Speedway GB fixtures page for August is reporting that Cardiff is cancelled? https://britishspeedway.co.uk/calendar/august-2022/ Lol updated now. Who the hell got that wrong? They had the Pairs at Oxford on the Friday as cancelled as well.

Shame the cameras weren't here. Absolute belter.

Teterow GP round 4 Saturday June 4th
CB252 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That one aged badly Dreadful track. At least everyone lives to fight another day. -
The fact that you honestly believe that anyone in the GP line up other than Tai has better throttle control than Zmarzlik is laughable. The track last night wasn't what I would call rough exactly, it was just crap and you couldn't t land a pass. How is having 3 of 10, 11 or 12 rounds having the majority of rounds in Poland? It means there are more rounds not in Poland. Having a round at Wroclaw doesn't help Zmarzlik. He rides there twice a year and two of his principal rivals (3 last year) practice there every day. Missing the Cardiff round the last two years has hindered Zmarzlik as well. He's ridden there 4 times and been in the final every time. Very odd the way some people don't rate Zmarzlik.

He didn't really make any mistakes tonight though. It was just impossible to pass, which will always disadvantage him. He's had two poor GPs, finished 5th in both and kept the series lead in tact. It's likely that others will need to pick up similar points on their bad nights to make a series of this.

Anyone know when the transfer window opens? -
Agree with that. Racing is absolutely woeful just when it needs to be decent when there's a crowd in.
-
Usual Horley shambles. Why the need to visit the pits? The bloody tapes didn't go up on the inside and only one person in the stadium missed it.
-
Crowd thrice the size of normal and they faff around taking hours to run it.

British Final 2021
CB252 replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
So the powers that be can rule with a rod of iron on things that don't matter? But they can't stage the national final on a decent day of the week and insist on the top riders turning up so they get a big crowd in. Hilarious as usual. And the bloke from Bowen's pies is the only person they can get to ride at reserve. -
British Final 2021

They had a number of qualifying meetings to determine the line up for the final at Leszno. Only Janowski and Zmarzlik were seeded directly to the final I think.
