Warsaw GP Saturday May 13th 2023
CB252 replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You make a good point here. You know, you can always choose to stay on and race like Zmarzlik did in the re run when Jack slammed the door. You don't always have to go for the swan dive. Zmarzlik had a tyre width lead and Doyle puts his arm on his leg. Glad the referee actually watched it multiple times as I hate the notion that a rider passing another up the inside is always at fault. If Doyle actually concedes the corner, that he arrived at second, chances are Zmarzlik drifts up and he cuts back under him and secures 3rd place, but he gambled and lost this time. -
Jan O' Pedersen hasn't defended the 1991 title yet so everything since then has an asterix. Laguta no doubt had a fine Dave Norris season in 2021 but, as with all Russians in sport, you have to question whether they were up to something when they win. Going from a bang average gating tart that struggled to make the top 8, to the worlds best in 5 minutes was no doubt 'fishy'. Zmarzlik has proven it over a number of years, only failing to medal once in SGP. Would Laguta have coped with the technical Warsaw and Cardiff tracks in 2021? We'll never know.

Inner City Sumo? Only needs a chalk circle in a pub car park. -

He's certainly coming on a bit. Not at Fricke's level yet though, consistently winning GPs in the Poles own back yard -

Yeah, we're effectively arguing about rules in a competition that has zero credibility or worth, and seemingly has less and less on each passing year, seems a bit pointless -

You're not making any point that anyone other than yourself is remotely interested in. If they have to make U turns to undo the bloody ridiculous rules they have in place then so be it. -

In my view, any rule that gets overridden and means that a guest isn't used, is only of benefit to the sport. It's a like for like swap in reality. Fricke a multi GP winner with a higher British average being replaced by a fellow GP rider, and we all know it's a genuine injury for Max and not a Poole esque fiddle. This was a very rare example of the BSPL using some common sense. Don't expect it to become the norm folks. -

Only in British Speedway could you get supporters thinking it would be better for a team to use a guest than sign an unattached rider! -
The whole thing is dead from the neck down. The most important thing is ready safety. Which of course it isnt, the fans are the most important thing. Their failure to recognise that is why there isnt any of them left. Last one out switch off the lights.

Exactly. What time did the promotion arrive at the stadium? 19:00?

Sat here wondering why I'm such a mug for driving the 60 miles here. All day long people tell you it's pouring with rain and has no chance, but still we dont listen. Then you get here and you're presented with this fiasco. At least buying tickets online makes it easy to do a charge back with the credit card company if they wont refund you.

Dismal GP, shocking crowd. Bewley doing the organisers a turn. Hopefully it doesn't completely gloss over what an utter shambles it was or they will never learn. Tomorrow will be carnage.

Well on that we can agree. Clearly the greatest of all time. The fact remains, you can't question the validity of a title based on the opposition. It's not Zmarzlik's fault the Russians are banned, and who's to say Laguta wouldn't have reverted to type this year and been mediocre at best. Also, he hasn't won it yet, plenty can happen, the others need to find consistency to be rewarded in a GP system.
