  1. It was processional, but a blind man could have seen that coming before the event had even started given the quality of the field. If you'd have filled a programme in yesterday afternoon and compared it to the actual results, I think you could have predicted the heats with about 95% accuracy. The meeting would have been more entertaining at a Wolverhampton or a Lakeside type track, purely because the bottom half of the field would have spent the night ploughing through the fence like they did at Monmore last year, resulting in a near 4 hour running time for the meeting! The quality of this meeting is an indictment of how far behind our U21s are compared to the rest of the speedway world than the quality of the track. Howarth met Lambert twice and we saw two decent races. A field full of riders of a similar quality would have made for a far more entertaining evening. Dare I say it that Coventry is actually being prepared too well at the moment to provide decent racing. Wonderful for the precious riders. Boring for the rest of us.
  2. You can gladly have him back. Would rather run a junior at 1, which we effectively did tonight!
  3. Also, the number one is an embarrassment and should have been put in the stocks on the centre black after the match! Worst performance from a Bees number 1 in the history of the club (including Kasprzak 2013 model).
  4. This shouldn't stop us from qualifying for the Playoffs and our shot at being the losing finalists. Writing ominously on the wall for the rest of the League. I think even the Poole fans are tiring of it now! Worst thing really was the atrocious racing once again (Harris apart) and the total lack of anything resembling entertainment to encourage anyone to attend again.
  5. Just poor fixture planning then, and looking tough for Vue to gain anything at a must win venue.
  6. Is Doyle missing the Pairs to ride in this, or will it be a 6 point PL rider at no 1 for Lions? Where's Zagar? Lost interest already?
  7. Good choice of guests there. Robins should easily see off a poor looking (away from home) Lakeside team.
  8. Spot on, it's not really Jamrog's fault that this Bees team is likely to become cannon fodder home and away. The removal of a decent number four has completely ruined the integrity of the team. King need some pressure applied to him in the third heat leader berth, but he can now continue to be woefully inconsistent and stay at number 3 all year. I can't even see us beating Wolves. Wells and Karlsson will eat Robbo and Jamrog for breakfast, and Freddie and Thorssell will take enough points off our top three to see them safely home.
  9. It's just a display of Patriotism in my opinion. It doesn't bother me one way way or the other whether it's played, but I certainly wouldn't have the energy to consider moaning about it. Times have certainly move on and changed since the COs days, more's the pity.
  10. What exactly is the problem with playing the National Anthem? It's played before every serious sporting event that takes place (perhaps this is why it has no place being played at Speedway meetings?). Shows the cretinous folk that promotors are up against if that is a major concern. The CO would turn in his grave at the thought of the Anthem not being played before a meeting at Brandon.
  11. To be fair to Horton, he was having a good run with the finances since he returned to Coventry, with no reported problems. The issues started when he let his heart rule his head and decided to save Peterborough Speedway last winter. Lumbered with a Tuesday race night at a club notoriously short on support was always going to be financial suicide, and so it transpired. He should have let Peterborough fold, but he didn't, and will have to take the associated flak that arises now. Interesting that five Bees riders have all ridden under Horton before and all re-signed, as well as Havelock as TM, so he must be getting things right at least some of the time. Hey ho, I'm sure he'll put his foot in it a good few times over the course of the season and apologise for it. It will all seem trivial in a couple of years when we're homeless and teamless.
  12. The last time he rode for us he used to struggle to get to Brandon for a 20:00 start time. He's got half an hour less now! I'm told he has no bikes and no transport, so it'll be interesting to see how this pans out. Presumably Korneliussen has already signed for Wolves as I can't imagine Bridger was first choice ahead of him.
  13. Terrific statement by the Bees, but one that didn't need to be made since the sane few amongst us knew that no disrespect was intended by organising a meeting on the same day as the meeting at Lakeside. So indicative of the way life is at the moment that people have to take the moral high ground and be so shocked and appalled by trivial things. The nutters watching this sport are worse than those running it 99% of the time!
  14. Last years NL was a total farce due to the uneven distribution of top riders, but this year we seem to have gone completely the other way with all teams I've seen looking little better than MDL standard. We look as though we've got 4 reserves and no heatleaders so far! At least I'll save some money as it doesn't look like away meetings will be worth bothering with!
  15. You've been wasting all of our time since 03 Jan 2006.
  16. I presume there's also a chance that some of the riders will ask to be removed from the draft, a la R. Lambert last year? Garrity said at an NSSC meeting earlier in the season that he would never go in the draft again as he simply couldn't make it pay at £40 a point. He was earning twice as much scoring less points for Rye. Presume if he withdraws, there's a good chance the Bees would be interested in taking him on as a second string?
  17. As I was saying. Do the rest of you actually follow speedway?
  18. If Poole finish top I'll be amazed if they don't pick King's Lynn. With Robins and Bees contesting the other semi on the same night, decent guests will be nigh on impossible to come by and Lynn could end up with Nicholls covering Iversen.
  19. Belle Vue declined to make Monday's fixture against the Bees a double header as 'they don't like the same visiting team involved in both meetings'. This policy has clearly changed in the last 24 hours as they now have a double header scheduled on Mon 15th with Eastbourne the vistors in both meetings. As usual, something fishy is going on re: trying to force a certain club out of the Playoffs. Happened to Peterborough last year.
  20. Give it a rest. Sane people are happy that Jensen has gone. We can't win it anyway as Ford won't permit it, so just enjoy some meetings that feature riders that want to be here.
  21. Have any of you actually watched the handful of meetings that Jensen turned up to? He was crap in half of them which is why his bargain average has actually dropped. Love the one where someone says Barker has a bad attitude. Jensen has the worst attitude you can get. A deceitful, cowardly, reprehensible character that has thankfully gone. Jensen is the prime example of someone that won't put the effort in to try and better himself. A trait typical with your modern day talented rider sadly.
  22. It's pouring at the track. And with whiners like Rory and Watty in town may as well call it off now.
  23. There's some real nutcases on this thread, talking about job sharing and racing on Monday nights all for the benefit of about 3 lazy ar$ed selfish riders that don't want to do a full season. The irony being that all of them without exception have ridden here earlier in their careers and been turned into better riders for it. If Coventry run meetings on a Monday to Thursday we will be out business in a month, regardless of the quality of the teams on track. You do realise ticket prices will need to be £25 a head to support this increase in quality? And I say that as somebody who will turn up regardless of which day of the week we race on. I want Friday or Saturday speedway at Brandon every week, and if that means PL level racing with Olly and Robbo as my top two, then bring it on.
  24. He's a serial repeat offender. Embarrassed that he now wears the fighting bee. At least fisher turned up and had a go.
