  1. The problem with the GP series is that you've literally got one rider (Pedersen) with some charisma, and the rest of them who are all in bed together, so you've got no prospect of any controversy before you even start. Couple that with the fact that there are at least twice as many rounds as there needs to be. I suppose the main reason for my apathy is that it's totally destroyed Saturday night speedway in the UK.
  2. I'll echo that mate. Does any fan actually value this boring, sterile crappy, over long farce of a gp series ahead of league racing at any level?
  3. I can form an opinion based upon having been present at all of the away meetings that Stuart has ridden for the Bees this year. He scored well in the A fixture at Wolves, where he was arguably our best rider, in what was a dreadful collective team performance. His performance went a long way towards securing a point from that meeting. Howarth is dreadful at Monmore. He had decent rides at Belle Vue in both fixtures, coupled with a tonne of rotten luck. I'd back Robbo to beat Howarth at Belle Vue any day of the week. Rode well at King's Lynn apart from giving up a lap early in one race. Howarth is dreadful at Lynn. His performance in the B fixture at Poole wasn't that bad given that he had Andersen hindering him at every opportunity and he was harshly excluded for an inside pass on Gomolski in one heat. There simply isn't enough justification for bringing Howarth in. In doesn't make the team significantly stronger, if at all. in fact, you could get Belle Vue in the Semi and Kyle could quite easily go there and score 0 and we'd be bemoaning the fact that Robbo would have done better. Couple all this with the fact that we aren't allowed to win the title anyway. Everybody already knows who will be lifting the trophy in September / October.
  4. Havvy confirmed on Tuesday night that Kyle had been in touch with him and bomber to enquire about a team place. The club have no plans to make a change unless enforced by lnjury to one of the current septet.
  5. Don't make yourself look daft when you weren't there. As a Bees fan who has seen his number one miles off the pace several times this year, I can assure you tonight that Holder was not. He met Lindgren three times and got the thin end of the wedge in three belting races. He was also undone, along with Janowski, by a superb ride from Wells in Heat 6. Don't want to sound like CVS but the format was very unforgiving on Holder tonight.
  6. Again, I'd side with Adams on this one. Wolves were being eaten for breakfast at reserve at the two possible heats he could have made the switch. Clegg had been relatively on the pace and there didn't appear to be any realistic gain from putting Roynon in 4 or 9. Roynon put in his best ride mounted on Musielaks bike in 12. Wolves won this because their heat leaders came to the party at the sharp end of the meeting for the first time in a while.
  7. As a neutral (that really wanted Wolves to win) I thoroughly enjoyed that. Decent racing on a superbly prepared track and a cracking last heat decider. I'll back middlo on the decision to put Holder in 15. I called it the same and would have done exactly the same. Holder lost out in a number of highly competitive heats, he was hardly dawdling round at the back out of contention. Fred and Wells would have beaten Watt easily in 15. As it was, Holder and fred fought out a great battle for the odd point until Holder lifted on lap three.
  8. Christ, this thread is a train wreck! It's like a mirror image of Leicester's season!
  9. Shame it looks as if neither of them are riding then. Morris for Bates and potentially Williamson for Blackbird. Should be easy pickings for Garrity and Sarj.
  10. Nobody has made that clear at all. If Zengi had been released I think Bees fans would have insisted on us signing him. A few daft fans (of all teams not just Coventry) have criticised the Robins move, but those of us that are sane realise that Swindon needed a full team and a sacrifice had to be made.
  11. Yes, of course. That's the whole point. If we replace Stuart it needs to be with someone who can change the game and make us contenders. The reason Kyle scored 1 at Poole last night isn't beceause of a rare off night, it's because the Poole top 5 are all far too good for him at Wimborne Road.
  12. It was 2003 but it was Robbo and Janniro. Happened across the DVD the other day. Great fun. I actualy think our two went down pretty easy watching it again. Don't remember feeling that way when it happened!
  13. An untrained monkey could be the GB team manager. It's a job that lasts for four days a year in June or July, covering two meetings where you can pull one tactical manoeuvre in each. A pointless thread for a pointless job.
  14. I don't think anyone sane believes that we will win it. The team is nowhere near good enough. Our lofty position is more of an indictment of how bad some of the other teams are.
  15. It was in his Adver column. Can't find a link to it. He said it was OK at Coventry but he didn't get on with the promotor.
  16. And now, by the time they do ride again at Monmore, they will have gone 3 weeks without a home meeting and Poole will wipe the floor with them!
  17. Correct, with someone other than Howarth!
  18. Not seen any mud slinging, save for Howarth himself when he left Brandon. Having Zengi would have been a no brainer, despite his zero point return tonight, but don't want Howarth anywhere near us if he doesn't get on with the promotion and with his sporadic attendance.
  19. Howarth burnt his boat at Coventry by opting out of a return and bad mouthing the promoter afterwards surely? If we want to get any better we need to come up with a better replacement than Howarth. He isn't significantly better than Robbo (worse at some places) and will hardly ever be there due to prioritising the PL.
  20. Fair enough, you obviously know something I don't about what went on. Also, Patchett is no longer on the scene so may not be an issue for him now anyway. I'm sure he'll be back at Swindon next year, presumably at the Abbey, as they're not going to get a stadium built by March now. If not, you can have him the year after when we shut!
  21. Surely they never were? The team had bottom written all over it before a wheel was turned, but Karlsson carrying them for a few weeks has duped them into believing it was a decent team.
  22. Remember this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/speedway/23810172
  23. You can have him next year. To be fair, if Swindon had paid him last time he was there, he'd probably still be a Robin anyhow.
  24. I expressed concern over Wolves frailties, ironically after they beat the Bees in the A fixture at Monmore. They got off to a reasonable start with PK making hay at second string, but were always going to struggle once he acquired heat leader status, given the total absence of anyone (other than Lindgren supposedly!!) suited to a heat leader berth. I fear they will finish bottom as there's little they an do to alter the team and make it any better. Also, Leicester will lose less of their remaining home meetings than Wolves.
  25. You'd probably lose your money then. In his last three EL meetings Harris has passed Zagar in a last heat decider at BV, nursed JK home for a 5-1 in a last heat decider at Brandon and scored at maximum at Wolves in a meeting in which Coventry tallied a 5-1 in each of his 5 rides. Lambert meanwhile has had a couple of iffy PL meetings and one good ride last night. No doubt he's the real deal but pointless using him as another weapon with which to attack Harris.
