His mistake was retaining Garrity as a top 5 rider. Should have released him there and then. Top two couldn't have been any better on paper. Bizarre that in an era where winning has never meant less in Speedway, people seem hell bent on it! In the late 80s Coventry went a couple of seasons without losing at home and suddenly TK got injured and things changed. Don't remember swathes of folks suddenly deciding to stay at home every week though.

Poole to Swindon is 100 miles as well! Fact remains, track sharing would be a killer unless it's at NL level a la Cradley to keep costs at an absolute minimum. When did they last try? Peterborough in 2014? They foolishly tried to run a team at all three levels that year and got in a mess, but effectively they did save Peterborough. If they hadn't stepped in the club would never have started the 2014 season and they wouldn't be running now.
-
I know Poole get their best crowds during the holiday season but the crowd against the Bees and few weeks ago wasn't that great by Wimborne Road standards.
-
There will be an option. People just won't go. Most have given up already. We won't be running anyway so it will have little effect on us.
-
Perry Barr would be better from a racing standpoint but it still wouldn't work. Look at our crowd last night though. Bees fans won't support off night racing on their own doorstep and never have done, let alone 20 miles up the road. Interestingly, Coventry v Wolves was the very first tv match on Sky back in 1999, and there wasn't many people there then either, so it's nothing new. Move last night's match to a Friday night with the same weather and the crowd would be 4 times the size, even at full price.

Poole to Eastie was a bit of a stretch granted but the fact remains. It will be a disaster and would harm the long term future of the club more than a year out. Look at Cradley when they moved to Stoke. When a club has no home track it effectively ceases to exist and moving to someone else's track merely delays the inevitable at huge expense. Also, this promotion does not have the resources to save this club I'm afraid.
-
One thing guaranteed to 'finish Coventry' would be a move to Leicester. Do you think Poole would survive if they had to ride at Eastbourne every Wednesday night? I know supporters of long standing, that regularly go to away meetings, that won't even go and watch the two Bees away matches at Leicester each year because the track is so crap.

It's nights like those that I'll miss after 33 years on the back straight. Even with a handful of people there you still can't beat a match like that. Speedway is actually really simple when you can just enjoy 15 heats without moaning about anything you can think of for the sake of it. Fourth meeting in 4 days for me. Few days off now until the next one. There isn't much scope to make a change as riders don't want the work unfortunately. However, to be fair, if it was a choice between watching a dullard like Bjerre put half an effort in, I'd sooner keep Woryna.

Superb meeting from both teams. Hope the skin flints at home had enough pennies for the meter so they didn't miss the end?

Boycotting is a sure fire way to get back to the days of 1984-2010. I appreciate loyal fans frustrations to an extent. All clubs really need to work together on standardised admission across the board next year. £15 quid to get in at all tracks and when it's on sky, knock it down to a tenner for all and promote the flip out of it.
-
I'm not surprised about the Howarth, Masters switch but would like to work out how Lindgren has fallen back to second string and Bech has stayed at heat leader?
-
Anyone know the averages of the Wolves riders? The ones on the Wolves site don't concur with their announced 1-7 and BSPA site doesn't have issue 9 up yet.
-
I'm a season ticket holder and I couldn't care less about people being let in for a tenner. You accept that this will happen when you buy an ST at the start of the year. Factoring in the Storm meetings I'm getting into all meetings at a discounted rate. The fact that hardly anybody took up the offer from the Storm perspective justifies the decision to extend the deal to everyone. And now people won't go out of principle. As I've said before. Any old excuse. Enjoy your evening in whingers.

2016 Speedway Gp Qualifiers
CB252 replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It would take more than a couple of rider swaps to enhance to morbidly dull SGP series, what with it being 5 rounds longer than it needs to be and largely on crap tracks. I'll have a go though. Lindgren and KK would probably have a better stab at it than Bomber on last night's form. Even Andersen might get his elbows up in a couple of heats and make a dangerous move or two. Karpov and Vaculik would also be welcome additions in place of some of the old dead wood. What's the point of the question though? Should World Championship qualifying just be abolished and the crooks at BSI just pick their favourite 16 riders for each round? That would make it more of a dull, boring closed shop than it is already. Lambert was half a straight ahead in his fourth ride and the bike packed up. He would have scored 11. That's pretty unlucky. Cookie blew it of his own accord I agree. Garrity's equipment isn't anywhere near the necessary level to succeed in World Championship Speedway. -
Was that a tumbleweed that just blew past?

Most who've got a lot to say on here already have given up. They assume that we're still interested in their opinion. They're like the clowns that couldn't be bothered to vote today that will still bleat on about who gets elected!
-
Do you even like Speedway?
-
A protest against the promoters is melodramatic. We're riding poorly, but with a team that Darcy Ward and other speedway star 'experts' said would make the Playoffs. A protest against the stadium owners (whoever they are?) who are letting the place fall down around our ears would be more appropriate. The Bees have had bad teams before, under all of their promoters and in many instances those former promoters also failed to address team issues that resulted in poor seasons on the track. A lot of our fans actually delight in the team performing poorly, so they have a ready made excuse not to go and they can save another few quid to line their coffins with.

What is the definition of first rate entertainment? A team of riders that gate well that win at home by a comfortable margin? The team has lost a couple of home meetings badly, but also fought back to beat Poole in an entertaining match. The reserves have battled and provided entertainment as well. Whilst the team has been poorly constructed, I doubt a top two of KK and Harris, which was one of, if not the best in the league on paper, comes that cheap. We're closing at seasons end anyway so I'm just resigned to turning up and giving the team a shout and enjoying some racing. You can sit at home and count your thousands next year as you won't have anywhere to go.
-
I'm not wading in on the manager argument, but I'm pretty sure Rosco wasn't the superior rider!
-
Because if you're a fan, and you know you're going to every meeting, EL and NL, it works out at about 13 quid a meeting. You then don't have to consign yourself to your home for the entire summer because you can't rustle up an extra 3 quid every time there's a meeting.
-
To make matters worse, Horton tells us that JK loved it and wanted to come back and then says JK is his favourite rider in the press! Classic Mick!
-
Yes I know. Can't people read posts on this bloody forum! What I was saying is, if they'd have allowed a non EDR guest on Wednesday, it would have been open season for Poole, or anybody else for that matter, trying to fiddle an EDR out of their team.
-
Yes exactly, that was my point. If they'd have let Poole use say KK for Ellis, that would have effectively overridden the rule that you must have two FTRs in your line up and opened the floodgates up to abuse.
