  1. Not sure what people were expecting from this exercise? Of course some of the meetings will end up as Bees select sides, but it gives us a story to put in the paper over the next couple of days and Jeff will bombard them with pictures I'm sure. I enjoyed it. Caught up with people I hadn't seen since Peterborough, whom I normally see a couple of times a week at meetings, and saw some decent heats. Masters v King and Schlein in 13 was great stuff and better than anything I observed at the 'real' meeting at Leicester on Saturday.
  2. Watt looked dreadful on Friday in a televised Polish match from Rzeszow as well, against a Pila team that wasn't exactly packed with stars. The problem with adding Wells and Schlein is that they will be unavailable half the time. Branford apparently didn't know where he was going yesterday and had his final destination changed a couple of times. Just highlights why doubling up needs kicking into touch for all bar young Brits who can be easily replaced. The current situation is a total farce and an utter embarrassment to the sport.
  3. He's did his best Norrie Allen impression! Thankfully there were very few left behind to hear it. This, coupled with the poor time keeping, poor racing and the usual poor sight lines and lack of facilities at Beaumont Park will keep all bar hardcore supporters away. Shame that a track that I can get to in 25 minutes is the one I'm least likely to attend again this year. Giving Rye a go next week, although that was apparently rubbish last night as well. Thank God Peterborough isn't too far and they ride mostly on a Sunday.
  4. The shambolic way the meeting was run won't help either. You can get away with poor racing to an extent if you run the meeting well. This dragged on for hours. Why can't all tracks start on time and run meetings efficiently like Wolverhampton? People say it's down to the ref but it can't be as Wolves meetings are consistently better run than at any other track in the country, regardless of ref.
  5. I don't have to thankfully. As I'm a nomadic Bees fan I can pick and choose, and I'll only return to Leicester this season for the Bees challenge match. The track will never be any good. Riders just get so strung out over the 4 laps. I'll stick with a weekly trip to Peterborough.
  6. This Rye team never looked any good to me. Looked like a Bees team from 2012, and it was crap then! Didn't think Swindon would beat them though.
  7. Absolutely desperate nights entertainment. The track changes have done nothing to improve the place. From the heady heights of Belle Vue last Saturday to this utter snooze fest. Angry at myself for wasting money on it.
  8. Making people fork out three to four quid for a bit of paper with the teams on is the first thing they should ditch. They should have an official app with interactive score card like the excellent 5-1 android app. News and videos could be uploaded daily. Youngsters will take far more interest if they know that they can have their phone or tablet in their hand all night to complement the action in front of their eyes. Sounds like too much hard work for the dinosaurs at BSPA towers though.
  9. How do they do it then? You could be talking about any club in the country. Young people aren't interested in standing around for hours on end watching 15 mins of entertainment. They're too busy using modern technology, which speedway totally fails to embrace in the UK.
  10. What scope are Swindon going to have for a rebuild? Does the points limit drop? Morris and Doyle probably should've chucked heats 13 and 15 to get their Aves down, given that they're likely to be the only two that stay in the team, and there was little need to limit Vue to 3 points as they're nailed on for the Playoffs anyway.
  11. Tell a lie, Kerr is available it's Vue tomorrow he misses. That might even it up a bit.
  12. No Bates or Riss for Lions, no Kerr for Poole. Massively in Poole's favour. Away four pointer or Matt will be sharpening the axe.
  13. Leicester look handy but their season will be undermined by double uppers missing constantly. Riss and Bates missing on Saturday = easy Poole win.
  14. Hope he rides better than he did tonight!
  15. Team next week is expected to be: King Kerr Garrity L. Bjerre Schlein Bates Sarjeant
  16. But they didn't fully employ last seasons format. It was the heat format from last year with subsequent rules on riding positions discarded. Did the BSPA really come up with a hybrid set of rules just for two matches! Wednesday won't really prove a lot either as Poole have time to reprint the prog before tomorrow.
  17. Correct. If you're using this year's race format. The meeting last night was run under last year's format whereby top three Aves had to ride at 1, 3 or 5. Thorssell rode at 4.
  18. Poole's riding order complied with the old format though. This is the final of this particular competition so no next round.
  19. It's must have been an error, otherwise Wolves rode illegally under the old format since Thorssell should have been at 1,3 or 5. Would imagine Rowe was on the money with his post on social media. He generally knows what's going on.
  20. The averages didn't reflect the riding positions due to a printing error. Riding positions were allocated according to this year's rules but last year's format was used. Middlo should really have insisted that Thorssell move to no 3.
  21. Or go out for a meal in Poland like he did last year when Coventry were there!
  22. Again, 2 points too high at 8.28. Think lower. Much lower.
  23. He's pony at Wolves that's all. He likes a bigger, faster track.
  24. Calm down Mr Paranoid. Kilndt shouldn't be at reserve for Poole or anyone else. He had an EL average obtained over a full season which was discarded in favour of a PL average obtain over a partial season. B. Kurtz should have a higher average as well. The usual fiddle.
