Poole V Swindon Semi Final 1st Leg 11/9/17
CB252 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The fans that see through it are the same ones that have seen through it the past two years when Poole did it. Yet you lot couldn't see through it then. Hypocrites the lot of you. The sport is the real loser. -

Identical to Poole pre-booking Tungate for last years semi having foretold Bjarne's absence two weeks earlier? Making yourself look even more of a fool than usual (if that's possible) with your hypocrisy. -

I get it now. Poole like to be the ones to taint a match and render it a farce. That's why they're upset, right? -

Probably best to ignore the ginger one folks. He knows Poole have done this umpteen times before (hell, they even tried in twice in the same tie last year), and is clearly trying for a bite with his faux outrage. -

No, he'll be unhappy. The same as he is when Poole do exactly the same thing time and time again. Another British Playoff meeting tainted by foul play. Hilarious if it wasn't so tragic for the sport. -

The outrage from Poole fans is totally unwarranted. About 6 of Poole's eight titles were tainted by this kind of crap. Sickening behaviour from Swindon to all fair minded fans. But past history on here tells us that that excludes 90% of Poole fans. -

Rosco is merely playing Ford at a rule he invented. Poole do this sort of crap virtually every year. Doesn't make it right though. Just highlights why this sport is seen as an utter joke everywhere in the world except Poland. -

So once again we have the amazing situation where people (whom had possibly spoken to the rider in question) predicting, with some degree of certainty, last week that Newman would be in the Swindon team tonight. A bit like last year when Tungate went round telling everyone he was riding in the semi for Poole 3 weeks before Pedersen sustained his unfortunate injury. Not to mention the disgraceful North fiasco of two years ago. What I found most amazing is that the promoters and managers of these crooked teams actually believe that this competition is so worth winning, to the point that they'll blow another hole in British Speedway's already knackered foot. Another normal day in the worthless pile of crap that is the SGB Premiership. -
It's no good comparing us to Poland. They don't have the stadium issues we have for a start. Going to your landlord and asking for the stadium 7 times a year isn't going to be met with a favorable response. The Poles have got the best day of the week, apart from Saturday, boxed off. The minute they move away from a Sunday the crowds are cut in three. There's so many reasons why we can't get to Poland's level. Their league structure just fits in perfectly with the tiresome individual competitions which clutter up every weekend and meander on for round after pointless round. And Redcar.
-
Brilliant. 7 whole home fixtures to get your teeth into. Wouldn't that be amazing for the people that actually go to meetings?
-
I'm obviously failing to see the point. Can't remember any recent examples of a junior overriding and injuring a superstar, except in Poland. Also, Doyle has been one of the most dangerous riders out there in recent years, so it just seems a bit rich.
-
I don't think disparity of talent causes incidents. Doyle is unlikely to get injured by a Greaves or a Smith because they will never be anywhere near him on the track except at the start line. British Speedway has always had this disparity. Wayne Broadhurst was never a threat to the health of Hans Nielsen 30 years ago. We've never had the strength in our teams that Poles and Swedes have now, mainly because when the BL was in its prime there were three times the number of clubs they have in those leagues now I guess.
-
Still we are brought back to the question of what happens to Sheffield, Ipswich and Redcar. They either have to join the top flight, or discard long established race nights and destroy their business. The Championship must be in danger of collapse as it is what with Peterborough's self inflicted woes, Scunthorpe and Worky fighting for their lives and ownership issues at another club.
-
Who exactly are these dangerous riders that are causing accidents every night of the week? Way more accidents, injuries and deaths occur on Polish tracks as all the riders are riding like nutters chasing the big money they get promised and occasionally paid.

Jack Holder And The (lack Of A) 9 Month Ban
CB252 replied to SCB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Of course the stance that should have been taken was to reluctantly release him to Poland and let him cop for a 28 day ban. He missed most of Boro's meetings in August anyway and none of them were at home. The main issue with this was no doubt his parent club being unwilling to accept him being banned for a month when they themselves had already refused to release him to Poland at the start of the season. However, coming out and releasing a statement saying that you've sold the final piece of British Speedway's integrity to Get Well Torun was the height of stupidity. -
Riders did an awfully good job of disguising their bikes taking off then, as can only recall Bacon in heat 4 getting into serious bother. Was thinking of Ipswich on Saturday and Boro again on Sunday, but I'll certainly never risk travelling so far to see Rory Schlein ride again. Simply isn't worth the risk. There's certainly a business opportunity for Steve Worrall if he needs any extra cash. He could hire a classroom and try and teach some of his colleagues how to be classy both on and off the bike.

Well, back from another absolutely shambolic night for British Speedway. Another shot to the groin. The feet, ankles and thighs were shot off years ago! Clueless officials, and the dreadful attitude of certain, not all, riders will drive this sport into oblivion. We've all seen meetings completed on far worse tracks than this. Of the few hundred in attendance, that will probably ensure that another 200 never attend again, so even if Peterborough do survive their punishment they will feel it in the pocket for the rest of the season. With a couple of other Championship clubs also on the brink, the whole sport is in danger of falling over the edge of the cliff this winter.

I'm a regular from Coventry (only missed one match all year) and still thinking of going. The chance to see Harris, Schlein, Worrall, King go head to head at the showground is still quite an attractive prospect to me, not to mention Starke and Lindgren. The A fixture in May was an absolute classic. If anyone local can post a weather update on here later would be much appreciated.

Belle Vue V Rye House 30 Aug 2017

The forecast for Pererborough is woeful, so a good chance all riders will be available for this match, assuming the forecast for Manchester is any better?
