You think that people not supporting a guy who has allegedly alligned himself with the developers that want to build on Brandon is 'cutting off your nose to spite your face'? Interesting. Regardless of your love for the club or sport, why would you chose to give such a person your money? I haven't been to any of the 'home' meetings. I know people that have, and they have confirmed all bar a couple of them have been utter rubbish. Leicester's crap anyway, but a slick, dusty track on Sunday afternoon doesn't appeal to most people anyway. Some people claim that the NL is a breath of fresh air. It isn't. That's why not many people watch it. Riding at Leicester is not a long term plan for the survival of the club. It's a pointless excercise unless it's being done in conjunction with the campaign group's excellent efforts to save the stadium, which it isn't.
-
Lucky we've got a few anoraks left that follow the sport in this country that care about the shambolic way it's presented and the disgusting state of the stadiums we're watching it in eh? Applying the rules is a basic necessity of any serious sport surely? Hope some of these riders that don't make a fortune riding on the continent have other qualifications to fall back on because speedway will be semi pro at best in the UK in a few years.

They don't enforce 12.11 either. A set of 4 Helmets (or helmet covers) on which advertising is not permitted, other than the manufacturer’s name, in these colours: Red, Blue, White and Yellow / Black; the RAL Reference Numbers being: 3020, 5017, 9010 and 1023 respectively. Riders are constantly failing to turn out in yellow and black in favour of yellow, which is a completely different colour with a different ref no. Again, people will say it doesn't matter but failure to apply such rules regarding appearance makes the British arm of the sport look a disorganised mess. Presentation of the sport in Sweden and Poland, and application of the rules, knocks ours into a cocked hat.

It'll be the Kenneth Bjerre that looks just like Chris Harris. The great British Speedway farce rumbles on. -

Bacause, apart from a handful, the stadiums have the appearance of rubbish dumps. Was at Swindon last night and there is debris and junk laying around all over the place down the back straight and around the 3rd bend round to the pits. -

When was that amended. If so, what's the point of yellow and black existing as it isn't used anywhere else in the world? Edited to add, the SCB regulations confirm that Yellow is NOT premitted. Both Yellow and Yellow and Black were permitted a few years back but they tightened it up to improve identification. They are clearly now not bothering to enforce it. Also, the crowd was about 1500 tops, which is still good in these laughably dire times for British Speedway. -

Dire, soul destroying bore of a meeting this far. Only talking point is the fact that we don't enforce helmet colour rules in this country. Doyle winning heat 12 in a yellow helmet. Must have forgotten his yellow and black helmet cover. -
Even if he wanted to come here, doubt Leszno would allow it. They don't pay their star riders hundreds of thousands of zlotys to have them come over here and get injured on our awful tracks.

Premier Sports will be going HD in July on Virgin, along with the launch of Freesports in SD & HD. "Premier Sports is available in 16 million UK homes across Sky and Virgin platforms and to everyone via the Premier Player https://www.premierplayer.tv/ while FreeSports will be available to 22 million UK homes from next season across seven different platforms. In addition, FreeSports will turn High Definition on Sky and Virgin from July." http://www.premiersports.com/pro-14/pro-14/

A change of promotion would be the best option! I know people that went to Buxton and the island that haven't been to a 'home' meeting yet as they won't give Horton a penny.. I suspect a fair few will attend Monmore next Monday as well.
-
The low crowds aren't really a surprise. I know fans of other clubs think that Bees fans should just be turning up regardless, but we have a unprecedented situation/shambles going on whereby three parties are involved in the demise of Brandon and a campaign group working independently of the stock car and speedway promoters to try and save the place. The promotion have put people so offside over the last few years that it was never going to work. I would wager that some of the Storm crowds at Brandon in 2016 were not much more than 150. Coventry fans had already voiced their disapproval of National League racing when it was on their doorstep, so how can it work 30 miles down the road? Many of the NL meetings at Brandon were run as a total shambles, only getting to heat ten and some, which some of us paid for in advance, weren't even staged. Horton is reaping what he has sown over the years I'm afraid.

Swedish Elitserien round 1, 8 May 2018
CB252 replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
I recorded the Premier coverage after I gave up watching it live and revisited it later in the evening. The freezing and glitching did become less frequent in the second half of the meeting so hopefully they can iron out going forward. Must have been a nightmare for Dave to commentate on. I suspect that the freesports edit tomorrow night will be a lot more watchable, albeit with at least 4 complete heats missing I would think. -

It's been woeful on Premier. Turned it off as it was so patchy. Cutting in and out halfway through heats. Completely ruined the meeting. It'll need to get a lot better going forward. -
The Swedish coverage on Premier tonight has been a total waste of time. Missed half the meeting as they keep losing the feed. Guess that's what happens when a cheap webcast company supply the footage?

I hear in the programme that Bates is blaming the cold weather for the dreadful crowds. Belle Vue also citing that reason. Nothing to do with the crap racenight lads?

Belle vue -V- Rye House 23.04.18
CB252 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This Rye House team is utter rubbish apart from KK. One point more than they managed in that garbage I endured at Monmore last week I suppose. Harris and Nicholls aren't even great 2nd Division riders, so why they're still competing at this level is anyone's guess. -

A soul destroying, festering sore of a meeting. That one was enough to kill your enthusiasm for a season before it even starts. After watching lots of fast, vibrant, modern speedway from Poland so far this year on the TV, this one was like a trip back in time to the seventies. And Monmore is generally one of the better tracks to visit in the Premiership!! -
Concerned, but not surprised. He'll do exactly as Przedpelski did. Make his comeback in Poland but never quite make it back here. Gorzow pay Vaculik thousands to have him come over here and get injured riding in our tinpot junk league in a meeting which shouldn't have started. No wonder they're livid as they can't just use a rider from another team to replace him. Wouldn't surprise me if Grudziadz tightened the leash on Pieszczek either. Drozdz already riding elsewhere but not for Belle Vue as he's too injured.
-
Hans Nielsen knocks them both into a cocked hat. Forget individual world titles, of which Nielsen was robbed of about half a dozen, his machine like brilliance at league level is unrivalled. 1986 season dropping just three points and going unbeaten away from home. Brilliant team rider, the best gater ever, able to pass (sometimes with brute force!). Tony was good, but as good as Hans? Not a chance.
-
Either way, no one wants to travel to a crap track to watch a cheap crap team, put together by a crap promotion.
-
He added: “A standalone stadium either at Brandon or elsewhere has never been commercially viable and will never be commercially viable for the club." Fantastic quote Mick. What an absolute bonehead. Fans, hopefully, will treat this news with the contempt it deserves. Done purely so that a promoter that everyone despises can keep his licence. Sunday afternoon NL speedway at the monorail? I'd rather stay defunct cheers.
-
If the promoters have anything about them, they will sit down and collectively agree to freeze the pair of them out of the sport in the UK next year. And Sedgmen. That's all fans want to hear. Stop going along with the lie. We all know they've gone home early. Just tell us we'll never have to see them again and we'll be happy.
