  1. Well, each team having a contracted no 8 from the Championship would be a stsrt now there's no race night clash. Effectively you are then employing a squad system. I mean, Torun wont replace Doyle with a rider of equal standing from their squad will they, so they will be weakened by it. It's part and parcel of credible sport.
  2. perhaps Torun can use Bartosz Zmarzlik next week? After another couple of wonderful days of Polish action, trust British Speedway to bring us all down to earth with it's utterly farcical rules, which we insist are a necessary evil, even though no other Speedway league in the world employs them!
  3. Sportowe reporting breathing trouble and possible rib damage on left side. Poor Doyle. Has little to no luck when he falls.
  4. Lidsey was impressive tonight in Lublin on a proper race track riding in the 'major' league.
  5. Paid about 120 quid for a wizzair return flight to Poznan last week, but was only booked a week before departure so there's way better deals to be had if you plan well in advance. I think there's a few people that post on the international threads that can probably give better advice than me if you've got a particular destination in mind.
  6. Poznan is a very good base for a number of tracks. Last week we hopped on the train to ZG on Friday. Probably cost about 7 quid each, there and back, took about 1hr 45. Same with Leszno on Sunday, about 1hr 20 on the train. Both direct connections. Torun is easy as well. Cheap flight into Bydgoszcz and 45 mins on the train to Torun which costs about 2 quid! Meetings cost about 8/9 quid to get into. The SEC qualifier at Poznan was a fiver.
  7. Was fortunate enough to be at the Zielona Gora and Leszno meetings last week (Poznan SEC meeting in between). Amazing atmosphere at both league meetings, racing brutal at times. Wonderful presentation. No ridiculous guests or tracks full of holes or oil leaking onto the track. The whole experience reminds you that speedway can be taken seriously if presented properly.
  8. Meeting was called off yesterday I think. https://m.sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/819247/krakowski-final-srebrnego-kasku-odwolany
  9. Panthers could try Kildemand. Gets on well with Andersen. He surely won't have an Ekstraliga job with Gorzow for long? His stock is that low that he'll probably be asking to ride here before too long. Why he thinks he's still good enough for top level speedway is beyond me. Actually, not sure he'd average over 7 in our league to be honest.
  10. Very enjoyable match that was. Heat 8 was absolutely superb. Interesting team management on both sides with Adams giving Morris an unecessary third ride (under this format) instead of using the well on the pace Becker in heat 10. Bizarre decision from Johnson to leave Andersen in 13. Expect Poole to beat Panthers on Monday but hopefully the racing will be up to this standard.
  11. What I find remarkable is that no one has come up with the correct opinion on who to drop yet. Surely Bjerre is the man to go. Hardly scoring a point in either League, and it's a stretch to think he'd be better if he dropped to reserve. Barker is a better rider and certainly a more exciting rider to watch than Bjerre. Surely Buczkowski fancies another tour of duty with Panthers. What about Sundstrom, he can't be that busy?
  12. There are two nominated heats after the programmed 13.
  13. Don't think the team managers did either otherwise Andersen would surely be at 3 for Boro, and I'd have had Bjerre at 4 for Belle Vue.
  14. I think the point was, he now has no team spot in the only televised league in which he was planning to ride, so he won't be giving his sponsors any major exposure.
  15. In no other team sport do the competitors determine what a team kit/uniform looks like, so why should Peterborough speedway be any different? If a company is pumping money into the club, they want to be the focal point of the team kit. You always get the hysterical masses that side with the rider in speedway, but the club can't afford to lose a major sponsor by having a rider dictate the design of a team suit. Looking at the press and practice pics, it's hard to see what his issue was. The fact that he was willing to sell his principles out for points money also cheapens his argument massively.
  16. As daft as two Swindon riders lining up in a Playoff final, for different teams, neither of which were their own?
  17. Correct. You can't run a 'professional' sport and even entertain the notion of it ever being acceptable for a rider that represents another club in the same league to suddenly switch sides for the night. The fact that the sport runs successfully, and has a reasonably sized audience, in other countries without such lunatic asylum rules being in place also suggests they're totally unnecessary.
  18. It's totally indicative of the lunacy that pervades British Speedway that people are on here arguing that it's sensible, and helps the sport be taken 'more seriously', if Peterborough are forced to use a rider that is totally unconnected to them as a guest, rather than their own rider. At least we know that it's not just the people running the sport in the UK that are absolute nutters.
  19. Woffinden got away with one in Sweden. He didn't here. Given the line up in heat 16, highly likely he'd have finished last anyway. Needs to draw a line under it and regroup for the next one. Sure he has plenty in hand to hold on to the lead.
  20. Wasn't it an English referee that failed to exclude Woffinden for having both wheels over the white line in Malilla? Swings and roundabouts. Awful GP and one which needs culling from the calendar.
  21. Got to laugh at your average British Speedway fan. Cook shouldn't have been allowed to ride in the meeting because having a worse rider in it would have somehow made it a better event apparently?! As phil the ace suggested, that's the best big meeting seen at Sheffield for a good few years and Cook played a major part in that. Cracking evenings entertainment.
  22. I didn't comment on Lakeside's apparent 'free' use of Nick Morris, I was more concerned with his vow to make life difficult for everyone around him as a response to perceived injustices. It's unprofessional, counter productive and solves nothing, as well as making him sound like an idiot. He's moaning about laying in bed that he was at least partly responsible for making. My club and stadium (Coventry) is on the recently deceased list, so I'm losing interest in the sport hourly to be fair. I happen to think that Coventry's demise is a massive factor in all this coming to a head. The day British Speedway's heart stopped beating.
  23. Conversely, I find reprehensible Russell's comments a total embarassment that typify why I'm currently so ashamed to have wasted so much of my life on this sport. It's the 'us and them' mentality that has brought the sport in this country to the brink of despair. 'If they think they're going to get away with it, they're not'. I mean, what sort of quote is that to be coming out with?
  24. http://www.swindonrobins.co/news.php?extend.3124 This is possibly one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen relating to British Speedway, and that's saying something. From the cringeworthy garden shed production of the video to the awful amateurish interviewer, the apparent hen party going on in the background and that's before you get to the interview itself. British Speedway is absolutely dead in the water and needs putting out of its misery if this is the best it can do. Utterly disgraceful, and whoever decided that video was fit for an official website should be shot immediately.
  25. Aggregate scores after 42 heats. Top team goes to final, 2nd and 3rd to a semi final. Winner of 2nd v 3rd goes into the final. Champions decided purely on result of last heat regardless of points scored in the first 42 heats.
