Polish Grand Prix - Bydgoszcz
BritPete replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think you are right with that one, Fundin finished 2nd 3 times, in: '57,'58' and '59, 3rd in '62 and '64 and '65. He won it a "mere" 5 times! -

2005 World Champion

Great stuff from TR, and this could so easily have been his 7th win! Of course, there is always next year! "Simply the Best!" -
Polish Grand Prix - Bydgoszcz
BritPete replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Great stuff from Lee, not bad for a rider that cannot overtake! but of course, there will always be those that are completely blind to his ability! What about TR though? "Simply the Best!" And as for Nicholls! well, his bike is at least as fast as TR's, thus proving that it ain't what you got, it's what you do with it! and Scottie, it seems, when it comes to the crunch! just ain't got it! -
Time To Celebrate!
BritPete replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
One bad meeting means not a thing, if it did, then they would all be second rate, because they all had them, what about the time at Oxford when Carl Blackbird beat Hans N. 3 times, and he did it from the back, surely not the form of one off all time the greats? get real, these things happen! -

Poland and Sweden have done such things before, the only country that doesn't, is silly old England! -

Ok, I was a year out! how time fly's! still nobody rides this track like Gollob, and I expect a very big night from him! -
Polish Grand Prix - Bydgoszcz
BritPete replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Gollob has got an obvious chance here, though maybe not as good as last year when he rode there, and conducted the track preperations! Rickardsson, in my view, is unlikely to reach the final, mathematically he could be declared the 2005 champion after one ride or so, and his concentration may wander somewhat! Crump is in great form right now, and I would expect him to reach the final. Apart form Crump though, this really could be a Polish dominated GP. My top three are: 1st Gollob 2nd Crump 3rd Hampel -
Australian Grand Prix
BritPete replied to richard's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Watching the meeting on TV, I can only say the crowd DID look sparse, and I would be very surprised if the figures quoted on here are accurate! -
LOL, if you believe that, you will believe anything! he treats our league with utter contempt. And he makes it very obvious. Also, Nitram, why can you not answer a post without being abusive? just because you do not agree with what I said does not mean that you should resort to name calling. As many people are saying, this forum is going downhill fast, and the reason is not hard to see.

He clearly makes his living from riding in Sweden and treats the BEL as a hobby! Kick him out!

Australian Grand Prix
BritPete replied to richard's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The GP in Australia was a financial disaster, the track was very poor and the crowd very sparse. I think it will be a long time, if ever, before we see another one. -

That really was a great win from Crumpy, I never thought that anyone would get by Jonsson tonight! -

What a shame that Scottie ws in that semi, with the big two inside of him, his task was almost impossible. -
Television Commentaries And Interviews
BritPete replied to Vintageman's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think that you will find that doing live commentary is a very difficult thing do do, the next time you watch it on Sky, turn the sound down, record your own commentary, play it back, and see if you are better! -
Please, it's Walasek, not walosek!

They will all be there for the practise!

Tomasz Gollob And The Non-blood Pole
BritPete replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Ok then. GB! Or did he? maybe it was just Mauger and Briggs! Just found it, Moore did indeed ride for GB. In the 1961 test matches against Sweden he scored a total of 62 points in the five matches, second only to Peter Craven on 71! GB won the series 5-0! -
The last race was indeed the highlight of the night, however, it surely was a ragged start with the German getting a flyer, and PK being the most inconvenienced, maybe that makes up for the non-exclusion of Rickardsson previously!

Tomasz Gollob And The Non-blood Pole
BritPete replied to Subedei's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well you have to say, this is very disappointing, the track is offering the riders absolutely nothing rght now, lets hope it improves later! And, Sky's camera work is crap! -
The reality was that things most definitely went the way of GB at Swindon, Hans twice lost it on the first bend after leading, Gjedde was leading, but, the race was stopped and he was excluded, on another night the the decisions that went the way of Harris, but, against Gjedde, could just as easily go the other way. That said, Team GB were definitely due some good luck after all the bad luck of the last few years, and anyway, they fully deserved their win for the sheer courage they showed on a difficult track!

I remember an English rider taking out a licence in another country, and he won their national final! Was it Cox? not sure, but, someone will know! won't they?

Quite a few different opinions here, that shows just how tight this group is, thank goodness team GB are already through to the final!
