  1. In most sports you would be correct, however, the bookies are not masters of speedway and they make several mistakes. It's just a question of waiting for them--and pouncing. A few years ago at Eastbourne in a SWC qualifier, the line up was Poland v GB V Sweden v Hungary (or someone similar) Straight away Hungary could be ruled out, and indeed Poland as well. Poland because although that had a decent team, they were never going to beat Sweden or GB at this tricky little track. But the bookies were unaware of this. So, it was a two horse race, and 6/4 was available on each team, an offer I took up without hesitation. As recently as last night the bookies once again got it wrong in the Coventry V Arena match, one bookie made it Coventry - 14, this was an absurd handicap, did they not know how weakened Arena were? furthermore, were they not aware of what happened at Arena recently against Coventry? and because of that Coventry were always going to be to out for revenge! And they got it!
  2. Lanham in a GP qualifier? You cannot be serious, unless of course the meeting was being held at Arena!
  3. I notice that Todd has signed for Vastervik and makes his debut tonight in a home match against Piraterna. Vastervik look very strong now!
  4. You mean we should all start learning Swedish now?
  5. You are indeed correct S.C. God, you really are sharp today!
  6. I remember it well, it was on TV. He ran back to the pits pushing his bike trying to give the impression that he was going to jump on another bike--or work on that one! Unfortunately for him the camera followed him all the way and he was caught out! All he did was to take his helmet off, and sit down! Didn't even see a mechanic there! But of course, that will not happen twice, will it? LOL!
  7. Not by choice. When I placed the bet it was still Ulamek!! LOL!
  8. Oh, thanks for the info, but neither Hans or Jensen ride Swindon too well. Iversen possibly better than Jensen at Swindon.
  9. I just hope Lee can do something, If adams can beat the top guys, then Lee just has to beat the likes of Correy, Jansson, Jensen and Lindgren!
  10. It's Norris. If you trust Lee to score a few, Skybet are offering Swindon @ evs. to win their group against: Wolverhampton, Peterborough, Coventry and Ipswich!!
  11. LOL. Danny Bird in the world cup! LOL, thank you for the best laugh I have had this season! (so far) LOL!
  12. Surely it's time for Olsen to go. It was generally agreed by the riders tonight that the track was nice and grippy at the practise, so why was it so slick for the actual meeting? It's a nonsense, the meeting was crap. There was a certain amount of overtaking, but it reached nothing like the potential that this track has. Ole, go away, your time is up!
  13. Yes, I looked at that as well, every chance I would think, I will stick to one bet though.
  14. No doubt all the Oxford fans will gather around the telly cheering on Tony Rickardsson!
  15. I do not get too involved in GB betting but there is a bet that catches my eye! and I have taken it for small stakes for a bit of interest really. Expekt are offering, in a H2H, Lindback V Richardson. Richardson is priced at 1.95. Last year at this venue he did manage to finish ahead of Lindback, JUST. Lee has been messing about in league racing lately, and the reason of course is his preparation for this meeting. I get the feeling he will have a decent meeting, one thing for sure, if he can reproduce his world cup form, he will blow Lindback out of the water! Of course though, there is aways a doubt where Lee is involved. The bet is about who finishes the meeting in the highest position. Not who wins when they meet.
  16. As I said after the Swindon match was abandoned last week, modern riders are big girls blouses. There was no rain after about 6:00 pm that night, PK seemed happy to continue, then Nicholls said something to him, and the meeting was finished. If they had carried on, then after a few heats the track was bound to improve. And now we have this nonsense tonight. Once again they gave up far too easily. Nothing to do with the GP coming up by any chance? Rider power has gone too far, and it's time these guys started thinking about the paying customers. If the Oxford track was as bad as it was reported to be, how on earth did they get the riders to take part?
  17. I suppose that this meeting will include a grand final? yes, I'm sure it will, and that is what makes it so unpredictable. It's fine in the GP series, because there are several meetings, but, in a one-off event like this, I believe it's totally unfair, but no doubt it's what sky want. The problem is of course that the rider who dominates in the heats, often finds that a 6th ride is a ride too many, and someone that has struggled to the final on 11 points, or something similar, makes one good start--and he wins it! It's happened many times before, and it will probably happen again. The only fair way to find out who is the best man on the night is to revert to the original format, not this stupid grand final nonsense
  18. There are always two sides to a story, and a certain Lynette Schlein has put forward a different slant on the sad affair via Yahoo.
  19. I was there! LOL. In fact I was look down on the run up to first bend where the Penhall/Carter incident started. I have no plans to return to the USA though.
  20. Split Waterman was involved in a scandal, but it was nothing to do with speedway, he did, I believe serve a prison sentence in the 60's (?) for something to do with smuggling! Also, a member of the pit staff at a particular track, said the he had overhead a conversation between Ove Fundin and Peter craven about "fixing" a race in the golden helmet match race challenge, an investigation was held, but no evidence was found against either rider.
  21. And how many didn't pay? According to Speedwayworldtv, Crump has been called upon to ride for VMS tonight! Could he be a two timer loser in play-offs? Teams according to Vastervik's website: Västervik: Tomasz Chrzanowski Bjarne Pedersen Niels Kristian Iversen Sebastian Ulamek Tomasz Gollob Peter Ljung Robert Johansson (F) Johan Engman VMS Elit: Jason Crump Ales Dryml Lee Richardson Wieslaw Jagus Rune Holta Jörgen Zetterberg Robin Aspegren Thomas H Jonasson This is the same team that went to Vastervik during the season, and got a draw! But, Bjarne Pedersen scored only 5 points, tonight he should do better. Crump on that night scored just 8 points. This should be a closely fought encounter!
