  1. It's much better without double points, because riders that progress to the final have a chance of scoring up to 6 extra points. Far better, in my opinion.
  2. It looks very much as though the old guard are beginning to fade. Crump, of course has retired, and I would be very surprised if Gollob or Hancock win a GP series again. Surely age has caught up with them now? I think Nicki P. has a chance, but he will need faster bikes than he's had in the past couple of series. Chris Holder, became the first of the new kids on the block to take the title and no doubt he will launch a big challenge to retain it this year. Lindback and Hampel will no doubt be chasing a top eight spot at least, but I don't see either of them actually winning it. Sayfutdinov, has a chance, but somehow, for some reason, he does not have the same speed as when he rode in his first series! I'm expecting Vaculik to make a big impression at his first attempt, and he will no doubt add to the series. Then we come to Darcy Ward, surely the most talked about rider in the world, unfortunately, usually for the wrong reasons. My view is, that with his abundance of talent, he has as much chance as any of the others, providing he can cope with the obvious pressures, and he keeps out of mischief! So, for what it's worth, I envisage a tremendous tussle between the defending champion and Darcy Ward, with Sayfutdinov, Nicki P, and Lindback, being their main dangers. One thing for sure, the first GP may not be a barometer for the rest of the series, after all, Holder scored just four points there last season! Have a good day.
  3. I took Ward at the earliest opportunity. Betvictor now have him @ 6.5. I just hope that he can get over the events of last season and concentrate on what he does best. If so, I should at least get a trading opportunity.
  4. The Provincial League ran "black" many years ago, so I can only assume that they didn't have the blessing of the SBC, or anyone else. Can anybody clarify that?
  5. Therefore: Barry Briggs Leigh Adams Jason Crump Phil Crump Bob Roger Martin Ashby Mike Broadbank Sorted!
  6. The best of luck to Lewis, but I have to say that I have got very little faith in him.
  7. What a fantastic name! The mighty league winning Robins will be putting all the wannabes to the sword too!
  8. Really? Then maybe you don't remember his first meeting for us, and when he left Rosco, clearly stating that he would "never ride for Swindon again"
  9. The First name on the sheet should be Simon Stead, closely followed by David Ruud, and then the mighty Peter Ljung! How could we go wrong?
  10. No Poles please, we're British! I would suggest that a little bit of illegal approaching is the way to go, after all, fraud got away with it, and it seems that the cheats will prosper once again.
  11. Well done to Scottie, the best rider on show tonight. I did not recognise him as the rider that was at Swindon last season though. Harris, as usual, blamed his equipment, and Tai acted like a brat. .
  12. If it wasn't for the format currently used I would go for Wuffy without doubt, but this grand final nonsense makes a lottery out of the meeting. Didn't Nicholls score about 7 last year and win it? The winner should be the most consistent rider over 5 rides, not the best rider in one ride. This format is all right in the GP series where there are many meetings, but in a one-off, and important meeting like the British Final, it makes a mockery of it. Bring back the old system! No Nocholls scored 13, but Wuffy got a max. in his 5 rides.
  13. As a matter of interest, Ove Fundin's real name was Ow Fundin, but when he came here to ride he changed it because he did not think that "Ow " was a suitable name for the Uk. I think he made a good choice!
  14. Well done Denmark! Thank goodness the joker did not win the world cup for the Aussies.
  15. it's a comedy of errors now, and great time to get rid of the joker for ever.
