Swindon had a challenge match against Lejonen, several years ago. We are still waiting for the away leg! -
I'm not at all negative about our team, in fact I would give them a decent chance of making the play-offs!

Best of luck to Troy, but Emil will be a huge miss because he was one of the most entertaining riders in the series.

There has been betting on speedway for decades. Take it away, and there would be less people interested in the sport than there are now.

His ads. are funny though!

Vaguely for me too! I do recall two bookies offering speedway bets that were published in that magazine though, and we had to phone them to place our bets. Until online betting came along, of course.

I have backed Torun to win their league with two different bookies. I certainly won't be touching the Bel at this time, because it's a magical mystery tour.

Given the current dire state of British speedway, dwarf throwing would be a threat!

It's a big track, but still not quite big enough for some riders! I was hoping that at least someone would have witnessed that crash. Then again, I was fairly young at the time, and it was well over 40 years ago.

Good question! It was definitely in the 1960s, because"Briggo" was riding for us. The mid-sixties, would be the best I can do. Maybe someone living in Purton, could ask him.

From memory he was pencilled into the main team,on that night, or was at number 8. He lost control on the pits bend, and went head-first into a very tall lamp post, and the lamp post came crashing down right across the track, with a shower of sparks accompanying it! The home riders ran from the pits to assist, including Briggo. "Mac" walked away from it, but, the lamp post never recovered. It was a shame that Gary Chessell gave up, because he had a lovely smooth style.

Which Rider Have You Never Taken To?

I like Hancock too. He must be the best rider ever for his age. -
Mac, was involved in one of the most spectacular crashes I have ever seen at the Abbey. Can anyone else remember it?
