Is the poster's name supposed to be Heathen1, or, Heath Hen1? This is surely the most important question here. -

1) Chris Harris 2) Tai Woffinden 3 ) Ben Barker 4) Danny King. Res: Craig Cook. I think that team would give us the best chance of going through, on current form. I certainly would not have Bridger there,he has to do more than score well on his little home track, to be considered. -

The Swedish riders that rode in the Uk, also rode in the Swedish League in those days.. I suppose that now they can ride in three different leagues, maybe they are more able to afford a few bad meetings! -

I think that the referee was in a no-win situation. Whichever way he went he would have been wrong in the opinion of some. -

It was an excellent meeting and long may Darcy Ward keep missing the starts! The guy is unreal! -

I was there for that meeting too. Gote Nordin was the unlucky one, he was leading Charlie Monk off the last bend, but his bike slowed, and Monk won the meeting. It was the best I ever saw Monk ride though, and he looked classy. I remember the clash between Fundin and Ivor Brown too! Ove was excluded for that, but in spite of his reputation, Fundin was rarely excluded.

A great show by Woffy, but I would just give Emil the edge over him. With Darcy out of the running, I really hope that the Russian wins it now. , -
I don't think that lasted very long!

Lakeside: Paul Hurry & Leigh Lanham V Tomasz Gollob & Jarek Hampel. A stroll in the park for the home pair!

The old monthly challenge really was something special. During the era of the "big five" most of the match races featured them and on several occasions a new track record would be set up. Even in those days though, there were problems in getting the races completed within the month, and I distinctly remember Ove Fundin having to forfeit his title (against Peter Craven, maybe?) because of his fixtures in Sweden. My opinion is, that this once highly prestigious championship, should be confined to the memory.

It looks very much as though the old guard are beginning to fade. Crump, of course has retired, and I would be very surprised if Gollob or Hancock win a GP series again. Surely age has caught up with them now? I think Nicki P. has a chance, but he will need faster bikes than he's had in the past couple of series. Chris Holder, became the first of the new kids on the block to take the title and no doubt he will launch a big challenge to retain it this year. Lindback and Hampel will no doubt be chasing a top eight spot at least, but I don't see either of them actually winning it. Sayfutdinov, has a chance, but somehow, for some reason, he does not have the same speed as when he rode in his first series! I'm expecting Vaculik to make a big impression at his first attempt, and he will no doubt add to the series. Then we come to Darcy Ward, surely the most talked about rider in the world, unfortunately, usually for the wrong reasons. My view is, that with his abundance of talent, he has as much chance as any of the others, providing he can cope with the obvious pressures, and he keeps out of mischief! So, for what it's worth, I envisage a tremendous tussle between the defending champion and Darcy Ward, with Sayfutdinov, Nicki P, and Lindback, being their main dangers. One thing for sure, the first GP may not be a barometer for the rest of the series, after all, Holder scored just four points there last season! Have a good day.
