Olsen was a terrific rider and a great racer I remember him coming to Swindon and doing an amazing last to first. It makes no difference what Coventry fans think of him,his place in speedway history is assured. He had a lot of bad luck in world finals, many a time he beat his great rival when they met, only to suffer an e/f, or a fall to hand the title back to him.
Years ago,Barry Briggs told the story about how he, and Ronnie Moore, went to all the
Model Aeroplane shops they could find on the day of the final, to buy as much nitro as they could find. On Hearing this,Ove Fundin asked if it was cheating, but I do not think it was at the time. Not sure though.
I see that you have got Swindon to finish last, which is fine, but it must mean that you know what our completed line-up is. Would you like to reveal it to us?
I think that Mauger is unopposed as the most consistent gater. One way or another he would find a way to arrive at the first bend in front! There are plenty of good racers though. Collins, Olsen, Briggs, Morton, Gollob, Jan O, to name but a few.
