  1. Yes, a few of us noticed the gate positions. Perhaps that was another typo and they were off the correct gates? Not everything the promotion try is going to work for everyone, but at least they're attempting to drag the club into the 21st century from where it's been languishing somewhere around the mid 70's. The whole place has been held together by sticky tape for years. It's gonna take more than a few weeks to transform it to a modern sports stadium I'm sure we'll see improvements week by week
  2. Lots of positives to take away from tonight. The revamping of the stadium seems to be going well. The presentation has stepped up a notch with a proper parade and rider introduction. Also good to see the team led by Peter Schroeck walking around the track to thank the fans after the meeting. The new toilets are a vast improvement with hot water. If only there were more of them. On the track it was business as usual for Edward, with solid back up from Leigh Lanham & Cameron Heeps. Ben Morley did all that was expected of him, but the Danish lads had a disappointing evening. Robbo was the star of the night banging in a 5 ride maximum. I didn't know he could gate! All in all a successful evening for the new promotion. Good to see a decent crowd in even though it was bitterly cold
  3. The four Rockets in the Lakeside meeting hardly covered themselves in glory either. I wasn't there, so can only go by the updates. It's very early in the season, so they've hardly had any laps, let alone competitively. It'll take a few meetings until they're up to speed.
  4. After being pessimistic during the winter I'm now looking forward to the forthcoming season. You can see that the new promotion are making off track improvements, albeit later than they probably wanted.
  5. I was there for an hour. Didn't get going until around 12.30 after the riders had been presented with their new kevlars. Decent turn out.
  6. Been open every year. No reason why this should change
  7. Blimey, worse than I thought. Have you tried Wonga?
  8. Contrast that with Berwick Speedway who have mounted a poster campaign this year and have them up in many shops & businesses.
  9. When a race is decided by how quickly you can change a wheel it's lost my interest. People who know sod all say that speedway is about who makes the first corner in front wins, forgetting there are three other riders in the race. At least you can see the entire race. In F1 you get a brief glimpse as the cars pass by
  10. I saw Steve Boxall win the New Year Classic at Newport in 2010 with 14 points, ahead of Barker, Iversen & Doolan. I wouldn't take much notice of pre season form. I'm sure NBJ will do just fine
  11. I can confidently say that there are no teenagers that will go to speedway just because the music is up to date
  12. I've been going to p & p's for many years and have yet to see a rider deliberately try to overtake a team mate. They usually keep a decent distance, which is understandable. I do think BWD is a decent rider though. The OTA track should suit him
  13. Never take notice of how riders look going around solo.
  14. If you don't keep supporters informed, of course rumours will start to spread. It's human nature. Look how Glasgow handled their stadium improvements and Belle Vue the new stadium on social media with regular news and updates.
  15. Oh I see, whoops!I agree with you about his promotion skills though. He was quite the showman in his early years, but became stale in his final years at Rye House
  16. Started promoting speedway when he was 14?
  17. I'm saving my money for the track shop on Saturday and some new gear
  18. Average side, promised stadium improvements not yet apparent, change of team colours after decades of yellow & blue, uncertainty over the future of speedway at Rye House after this year... That's nothing?
  19. Pretty sure most riders would jump at the chance to earn mega bucks, no matter how far they have to travel. If the alternative is no team place I certainly would
  20. Ignore the people that pay through the gate to keep the place going. Great advice. I'm glad you're not my accountant
  21. Well said that man!! I've devoted 31 years of my life following Rye House up and down the country. Am I allowed an opinion?
