  1. 100% correct. B4E just mentioned Andrew Tully. He looked fantastic at Rye. Couldn't he have taken Roynons place?
  2. Dunno about that, but was there ever a more over rated British speedway rider?
  3. Reasonably pleased to see a Rocket there (Kennett), but I reckon he'll be blown away at Cardiff. I'd much preferred to see Tai there, but I guess we'll have to wait another year for that.
  4. Large ball park for the kids next door Sue, so you can leave them there while you wander around the museum.
  5. I remember him seeing him riding for Long Eaton in 1988 and he was part of the National League title winning Ellsemere Port team. He is 44 I believe. This my first Telford meeting and in fact my first indoor meeting full stop. I was told not to expect too much, but was pleasantly surprised. Broadhurst, Howe and Smolinski were the class riders on show, Broadhurst was terribly unlucky in the last heat of the Individual meeting when it looked like he'd done enough to win his final Telford meet. Plus points were..the close proximity to the racing....seeing some riders I'd never usually get the chance to see (Smolinski, O'Hare, Howe)....The "Dancing On Ice" turned out to be better than I expected, quite funny in fact.....Being able to park so close to the venue and having a Weatherspoons only 5 minutes walk away Minus points were....The presentation wasn't as good as it could be. I had no idea who the big guy riding at number 5 in the evening meet was. The PA was so bad, the least the presenter could've done was to spell the guys name and where was the promised laser show?....Craig Branney's terrible injury, hope he makes a full recovery. Didn't see the David Howe incident, I was in the bar. Sounds nasty, hope he makes a quick recovery too.....Having the Shadmobile plastered in Nick Simmonds Testimonial flyers by a couple of young ladies, Sandie and NikkiF I think, at least I won't be buying Andrex for a while I reckon we'll be returning for the 2009 Telford Indoor meeting.
  6. Can anyone advise on the parking near the venue and also any restaurants or food outlets in the town centre?
  7. We'll look out for you. I'll be easy to spot as I'll probably be the only one there wearing a Rye House jacket! Are we? Cheapskate
  8. Must have done, because I was there on Wednesday
  9. It's not really advertised much once you've entered the park. It's tucked out of the way behind the kiddies ball park. We were in the museum for half an hour.....nobody else came in.
  10. Visited the museum today with the kids. First thing I noticed was how small it is, but boy..is it packed full of memorabillia or what!!!! We spent a good 20 minutes wandering round before settling into the small screening booth to watch some vintage 70's racing. Only left because the boy was getting bored and wanted to play in the adjoining ball park. I'd have gladly spent much longer looking around at the various exhibits and watching more vintage footage. The only drawback was having to spend £21 and a couple of hours walking the kids around the zoo with it's lifeless collection of animals (the big cats were particularly disappointing) and digest a particularly horrible vegeburger in the tatty diner before we could take in the museum. On the whole I'd definitely suggest you take a trip one saturday afternoon before popping over to Rye House, but take your own food or wait until you get to Rye House for the fish 'n chips
  11. Greetings. I'm looking for info on this short lived speedway venue. I've got this overhead, What I need to know is how it's changed from it's speedway days and if there are any links to photo's of the track from the mid 80's. Thanks
  12. That's exactly the kind of pictures I'm looking for..thanks What an odd shaped track that must have been!!!!
  13. Thanks to both of you. Just what I was looking for
  14. I'm looking for any photo's of the Hastings track. Reading through Norbold's book "Speedway in The South East", it mentions the track was still in place in 1975, so there may be some photo's knocking about. Any help appreciated
  15. Congrats to Adam. Obviously used to the concrete surface having spent a year at Rye House
  16. An even better reason to pay using counterfeit money!!
  17. I could afford it, but I'm loathe to give any more money to the Welsh. It was either that or wait for low tide on the Severn
  18. There's life in the old Shadmobile yet, especially when paying the toll with a counterfeit fiver.
  19. I remember him from Rye House in the 80's. He had a droopy moustache and wore a white coat from memory.
