I'd have to go through my programmes in the garage, but I'm sure I saw him riding for the Don's in 1988.

Roger signed for Rye House Rockets aged 36 in 1990 and spent the following two years there. 1990: averaged 6.08 from 13 NL & KOC matches 1991: averaged 5.44 from 19 NL and KOC matches

That's only a couple of miles further than the M4/M5 route I usually take...hmmmmmm...I may try that this year if and when I come down to the OTA, even for a change of scenery. I'm still wary of single carriage roads though, especially at that time of the year with the dreaded caravans to contend with.....it still doesn't address the problem for those coming down the M5 from the Midlands though. The only option is to leave early in that case.....I won't be attending unfortunately as my budget doesn't extend to two meetings over the GP weekend. I s'pose anyone worried about being late for the meeting could travel down on Thursday and stay at your place

I second that Paulco.....this meeting is a full FIVE months away....far too early to predict who the pairings will be, let alone who will win....Birmingham fans will know how injuries can play a HUGE part in who will line up for the respective sides.....You can't blame Workington fans for getting a little over excited though, time will tell. As for the journey down...I've done the trip a good few times now and it is horrendous IF you leave it late. Whenever I go to Somerset I try to leave my home in North London around 1.30pm, trying to clear the M5 south of Bristol by 4pm, before the worst of the traffic.....One year we even tried going through Bristol and taking the A38 all the way, but that was worse, especially when you get stuck behind a bleedin' caravan!!! There's a Hungry Horse pub a couple of miles from the track on the road into Burnham where you can get a decent meal, that's not a bad place to spend a couple of hours should you decide to miss the worst of the traffic and get there early

The old stadium was demolished in 1985 and a new structure put up on part of the site, opening in September 1986, exclusively for greyhound racing.....The new stadium takes up 25% of the space that the old stadium occupied.....The rest of the land I guess became the supermarket. New Crayford Stadium

I'd like to add my thought to this topic. We've attended the last three meetings at High Beech and each time my daughter has had to wait outside because she is a wheelchair user.....Even if we could get up the stairs into the merchandise room, getting around it would be next to impossible for a wheelchair users.....I welcome any moves to make the meeting more accessible with better parking facilities.

Dead centre of this photo is the site of Seedhill Stadium, home of the Nelson Admirals from 1968-1970 Site of Seedhill Stadium I've visited the site several times and seen the riders numbers painted on a wall at the back of the site where the pits were. The stadium was demolished to make way for the M65, although only a very small part of the site was built on, the rest remains derelict.

New Travellodge In Cardiff
Shadders replied to neil's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
At £115 without breakfast I'd say that was a right royal rip off!! The same room one week earlier would be £39!!! -
Decent meeting given the state of the track.....Definitely not as cold as Sittingbourne last Sunday, no wind chill for a start.....As mentioned earlier, three quid for a programme was a rip off.....Not sure how Robbo will cope in the Elite league if he doesn't sharpen up his gating, especially at the gating tarts paradise that is Lakeside.

Cardiff Hotels News
Shadders replied to spiegal's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I stayed there last year and have booked again for 09, but that price is staggering for a basic hotel. Make sure you stock up on the unlimited breakfast on Sunday morning, but beware...the dining room is rather small, you may have to share a table or wait your turn. There is a multi story car park next door (the hotel car park is tiny) and the hotel will validate your ticket at reception so you don't have to pay -
Just back from a very cold Iwade.....just about the coldest I've been at a speedway meeting. Didn't stay for the second half, but here are the scores from the Club Challenge Match. Sittingbourne Colts 74 1. Mark Baseby 14 (from 5) 2. Jamie Dixon 2 (5) 3. Dan Berwick 9 (5) 4. Richard Andrews 5+3 (5) 5. Aaron Baseby 13+1 (5) 6. Rikki Mullins 11+3 (5) 7. Harland Cook 9+1 (5) 8. Michael Bovis 11+3 (5) The Windmills 45 1. Jannick de Jong 15 (7) 2. Jesper Veldhulzen 2 (5) 3. Henry van der Steen 11 (6) 4. Richard Kopples 0 (3) 5. Wim de Haas 2+1 (5) 6. Wim Kannis 5 (5) 7. Willy Kannis 9 (5) 8. Sjors de Jong 1+1 (5) (Wim de Haas fell and excluded in ht 15, replaced by Henry van der Steen). Star rider for the visitors was Jannick de Jong who would have scored more but for a couple of engine failures at the start of his first and fifth races. He also posted the fastest time of 59.7, the only sub minute time of the match. There were around a hundred or so spectators there braving the freezing conditions.
