Red Dan makes a good point. None of us know how the finances of speedway work. We don't know what the weekly turnover is. Neither could we know how much goes out in riders wages, flights and the costs of running the stadium. Do we really want the promotion to do a Newport. Gamble on a trophy winning side with no guarantee that the crowds will turn up? Far be it for me to defend Silver, I'm obviously not on his Christmas card list, but perhaps this is the best he could do with the finances available.

I'm yet to be convinced. Even if he does I'm not aware that he's been racing regularly in Australia, so will be very rusty. I'm not sure how commited he is. Rye teams have been built under the limit for years. Im sure no Rye House supporter is surprised.

Something that needs to be addressed during the winter is the club website. For any professional sports club not have a website in this day and age is an embarrassment and a disgrace. Communication between the club and supporters needs improving.

Done this to death Youngy, but briefly: Threatened with violence by a Rebels supporter because I had the balls to ask him not to take photographs of Luke Bowen screaming in agony on the track with a smashed up leg... Harassed by a steward who tried to eject me from the stadium for being threatened by said Rebels fan... Email to Somerset promoter was met with a couldn't care less reply.

I was never convinced we'd come away from Berwick with enough points, but with Adam Roynons unfortunate injury and his replacement Ryan Fishers disappointing form there was really never any doubt. Still not convinced that a team finishing second from bottom should be celebrating. A satisfactory end to a disappointing season with much to look forward to in 2013
