Somerset Vs. Rye House (07/06/2013 @ 7.30)
Shadders replied to Najjer's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Rye House were an ambitious club once. Tai, Roynon, Danny King, all good up and coming young British riders who were going places. Crowds were twice what they are now. People have deserted in their droves. Can't all be down to the economy. Once you lose them and they get out of the routine of showing up every week it's very hard to get em back. I'd have seen dozens of Rye fans at Somerset as recently as 3 or 4 years back. Last night I only saw one bloke standing on front of me on the back straight. There may have been a few more, but they were pretty anonomous. I have it on good authority that Rye House are good payers, the riders are well looked after, so attracting good ones shouldn't be a problem. The crowd at Somerset wasn't that much more than the regular Rye crowd and they charge a couple of quid less on admission. They can afford the likes of Doyle, Morris and Grajczonek, who won't come cheap. As you and other have said, every effort should've been made to get Garrity at reserve. That could've been the difference between a top 4 place and a side destined to struggle in the lower reaches of the league. The KO Cup now becomes paramount. If and when we're out of that the season is dead. -

Forget Jason Garriity, even Jason Criump in his heyday wouldn't have made much difference. When are we gonna stop making excuses for some of Lykkes woeful performances, especially away from home? His gating is atrocious and he hugs that white line like its his best friend. Silver is on record as saying he doesn't look at a riders average when building a team, just picks the best seven riders available. Bullsh*t!. Simon Lambert, really? Just tell the truth and say he was the best you could afford within the budget available. You'd get far more credit for that rather than just bullsh*tting the fans with a load of old pony and flim flam. You can tell he used to be a used car salesman. Trying to pass off and old banger as a Rolls Royce. Well it don't wash with me and if the crowds continue to dwindle he'll be left with a virtually empty stadium and only memories of a side that used to challenge for trophies, not put up a performance like we saw at Somerset, Hopefully the side will get a kick up the arse before on form Plymouth arrive, otherwise we're gonna end up with another home defeat and a few less watching at the following home match. Rant over. Good night. -

Woeful, inept, embarrassing, pathetic. Just some words that describe what I saw tonight from my team. Can't wait to hear Silver big this up tomorrow, but I doubt he'll mention it. He should be on the mic apologising to the travelling fans (I counted 3) who had to stand and watch that sh*t. Only Anders, Jason and in the latter part of the meeting Olly are exempt from criticism. Nelson had an appalling evening, looked all over the place. The reserves were toothless. Kasper had one decent race when he kept the impressive Lewis Kerr at bay, but that was about it. May as well forget Simon Lambert. About as effective as a chocolate fire guard. Robert Mear, oh dear. Didn't beat an opposing rider and never looked like doing so. Pathetic. 6 points from 16 rides for our bottom 4 is crap. Crowd looked down from previous visits. About a third less than last time I was there for a PL meeting. To make matters worse, the M4 was closed at the M5 junction, so we're currently taking a magical mystery tour through Bristol. At least I wasn't set upon by Somerset fans tonight. They were too busy laughing. -

Some blue sky over the track now Instant heat by heat updates via Twitter @shadders5 -
Sittingbourne Rockets anyone?
-
That's another thing I heard. A higher authority are pushing the plans through. Silver has always said that he's against air fences at Rye as they'll restrict the view of the track for the spectators

You spotted the deliberate mistake. Well done! I just wanted to mention the last good year we had to make me feel better -
My Sheffield supporting friends say it could be the end for them as they won't have time to erect and dismantle the fence within the time constraints imposed by the Owlerton Stadium owners

Ipswich Vs Newcastle Thursday 6th June 7.30pm

Good win for Newcastle. Favourites for the league with Edinburgh surely? -
Heard a whisper last night that air fences are to be made compulsory in the Premier League from 2014. Dunno if this is old news, but certainly the first I've heard of it. Could impact heavily on a number of clubs if true.

Currently motoring down the M5 en route from the Bandits dismal display at Sheffield last night. Not expecting much tonight, reckon we'll do well to hit 35 points. Clouded over since we passed Brum with the forecast saying a light shower between 4 and 5, steady rain around 10. Should be ok though. Lewis Kerr guesting for Tom Perry I believe -
Sheffield V Berwick (pl) 6th June

Sheffield look a different side to the one I saw beaten comprehensively here by Rye House in the KO cup a few weeks ago. Haines and Koppe have improved massively since then. They were the difference. Disappointing from Bellego, Kozza and Weathers. The score line flatters Berwick somewhat, who were never in it from the first heat. Take away the tactical points and Kennett scored 11 from 5, an average of 8.80, not bad for an away number one. Interesting to see Andre Compton putting in some laps after the meeting -
Jason Garrity reckons he'll be back in 3 weeks

15 points up after 7 heats at Redcar. That was your best chance. -

The vast majority of those posts were in the PL & NL sections. I very rarely stray from them. You're just trying to deflect attention from the fact you wrote Tai off. Nice try! -

Just stumbled across this thread and having a chuckle at all the posts from last year stating Tai isn't good enough to race in the GP series. Nice one! -

Don't believe her. Saturday nights at Shadwell Towers is hell when Berwick lose at home.
