  1. Pleased that Simon has got himself fixed up with another club. Never really looked the part around Hoddesdon. Don't think the injury he suffered helped either.
  2. I think that was the general consensus amongst the Bandits fans. To be honest, my attention was on the fallen rider, so I missed the Ashworth/Lanham incident. Looked to me like Ellis fell on his own accord, so should've been excluded anyway. Caught a lucky break there.
  3. Ashworth used to be hopeless at Rye, but he's improved his scores greatly over the last couple of years. Rye is a pretty small slick track, so your point is spot on. The Ipswich track looks very flat. Some banking would help the quality of the racing.
  4. Granted, but I was looking for him to score better than that after his recent haul in the test match
  5. Can't remember the last time I saw him ride so poorly, apart from the 2007 PL play off final at Rye
  6. Can't remember the last time I saw such a poor meeting. Oh yeah, I remember, last time I was here
  7. I'd have been surprised if Redcar had agreed to that date with both Ostergaard and Summers missing as Brummie Kev pointed out
  8. Good call to postpone early. I can make the restaging now
  9. 6 and 2 threes really. It'll give JaseG extra weeks to get fit and I'm not sure if Nelson is 100% after his fall at Sheffield on Thursday. On the minus side we don't know which guest will be available for Olly that day. What I do know is the team will be knackered after the Berwick part of the meeting. Notice how they fell away in the second half of last weeks D/H through tiredness. Plays right into Redcar's hands. Can't say I'm disappointed, I'm thousands of miles away and was gonna miss tonight's meeting anyway!! Just had a thought. Does the KOC take presidence over the league? Would the Redcar match be first? Could ask the Bandits to switch. It'd be in their interests as they'd get us knackered in the second half, but would mean a very late arrival home for them well after midnight.
  10. If it's the same Glasgow that turned up to Rye you'll have no trouble
  11. Yes mate, that was me, next to the camera stand. Two more visits to Leicester with Rye & Berwick. Hope it's better racing for those, although I'd take another poor meeting in a couple of weeks if we take something away with us
  12. I estimated around 400. I was told the last couple of meetings have been very good. Must've been an off night. Most races were too spread out for my liking. Some stand out performances, notably Lawson & Hougaard with Bager looking more comfortable than he did at Rye last night. Some poor performances also. Klindt was awful. Can't believe I was disappointed Rye didn't sign him. The Hungarian touting around for a team spot didn't do himself any favours. There are better young NL guys who deserve a chance ahead of him. Gissa job Darkin was saying the right things. Seems he would welcome a return judging by the centre green interview. Palm-Toft improved as the meeting went on. Surely worth a punt at reserve somewhere. Dunno what that karaoke during the interval was all about. I'm guessing she won that gig as a prize in a draw? First time I've noticed that there is no view of the pits for supporters. Some tracks I've been to allow fans access up until about half an hour before the start, notably Rye House, Berwick & Somerset. At Leicester you can't even see them! Back on a couple of weeks when the Rockets are in town.
  13. First prize in the most ridiculous post of the year.... And it's only late July
  14. Because I'm lazy and have a thing about men in oily overalls www.meninoilyoveralls.com
  15. What a difference a couple of days make. On Thursday I thought Adam Roynon was superb, but last night he looked hesitant and off the pace. Compared to Facundo Albin who looked less than ordinary at Sheffield, but impressed me last night when I imagined he'd struggle. Good to read that Rye House intend to retain the services of Pontus Aspgren for the remainder of the season. He's been impressive and seems to have worked the track out fairly quickly. His bike looked quick too, which is an added bonus. His performance tailed off after he was involved in that first bend bunching incident, but a promising first few meetings nonetheless. Hopefully a long term fixture in the side. A possible masterstroke by the promotion if it can happen. That odd shade of red helmet cover makes him stand out. Think the pre race fanfare needs some work. Nice try though. You certainly get a different perspective standing by the start line. I enjoyed the banter between the home fans and the ref/announcer. Only an hour wait for the RAC to arrive and change the busted tire on the car which fell victim to the infamous crater at the car park entrance. That chasm really needs to be sorted out. That's me £80 out of pocket tomorrow. Meanwhile we waited in the bar where we had a nice half hour in the company of the Rockets captain and his charming missus. The meet the riders post meeting idea is working a treat.
  16. No, I don't mean that at all. I think the young lad is a little too enthusiastic.
  17. Only 2 less than you scored at home against us on Thursday and against a team knackered after 15 heats against Glasgow including 5 points "gained" by tacticals... Well done
  18. Track was fine. Slickened off towards the end of the second match, but no dust clouds. Programme notes said that the ref for the Edinburgh meet awarded the track 9/10, the highest mark he's given anywhere. Had about 20% battery life left by the end Youngy. Enough to call the RAC to come and change my tire.
