  1. Wrong guy at the wrong track at the wrong time If he comes back and reels off a few race wins?
  2. It'll be interesting to see how Edward Kennett is dealt with by Mr Barrie when the Rockets are up
  3. It's an interesting format. All seven riders involved with bumper attendances guaranteed. I remember meetings at Rye involving Hackney & Arena Essex in front of huge crowds. Easter AND Autumn triangles
  4. I saw that earlier Alan. Was thinking about a triangular competition involving Ipswich
  5. Joined them? I was leading them!! Nothing about it on either the Panthers or Rockets websites as far as I can see. Personally I'd like to see a return to the old Easter Triangle meetings including all three sides
  6. Wasn't meant to be derogatory towards those concerned. I think most would've got the gist of what I was getting at
  7. B4E and I have been to a couple of New Year Classics at Newport and the one at Poole in recent years, so I'm coming up prepared. Mind you, it's very open at Peterborough. I can imagine the wind blows in pretty cold across the fens. The coldest I've been at speedway is a March meeting at Mildenhall about 7 years ago where there was ice on the first bend terracing. This years Ben Fund meeting at Berwick was a close second. It was so cold I had to retreat to the Black & Gold before the final. I reckon 4 layers and a couple of flasks of hot soup will help, but not much
  8. First Rockets meeting of the season is at Peterborough in the East of England Cup on 18th March, with the return leg at Rye on 29th March. Makes a change from Ipswich!!
  9. Len Silver offers to help a new venture, moves his own people in, alienating the enthusiasts who started the thing up in the first place. History repeating itself. I'm surprised anyone's surprised.
  10. Dick Barrie is like Marmite. You either love him, or hate him. Personally I think he's superb.
  11. RoynonFan would've spent most of that on hair dye
  12. I seem to remember a similar scenario when Len Silver came in as a sponsor when Rye returned from the wilderness in the late 90's. The people who had brought the Rockets back (Steve Ribbons was one of them) were edged out or banished from the club altogether (depending on who you believe) when Mr Silver and Mrs Naylor took over altogether and purchased the lease on the stadium. Mind you, two league titles and a Premier Trophy followed, so perhaps it was for the best.
  13. That was my first thought too, but did a quick check on Google maps just out of curiosity. Not much in it mind.
  14. Dunno who's available Neil. If there were a Rocket, or a Bandit (for the mrs) in the line up we would've reconsidered.
  15. Could it be that Panthers fans and supporters of speedway in general are relieved that another track has been saved, for the time being at least?
  16. Was all set to drive up for this.... until I saw the line up! If I really wanted to get the buzz & smell of methanol I could walk 15 minutes down the road and watch Rye House practice any Sunday for nowt
  17. My priorities are seeing my team win. How they do it isn't important to me. By any means necessary.
  18. Morris is entertaining, as are most of the Aussies racing over here. The PL will be a poorer place without them. I'm not too bothered about him taking a Brits team place. If they're good enough they'll be picked up. I want to see my team competitive. If that means giving a foreign rider a Brits place then so be it.
  19. If the Somerset promotion & management don't understand the rule book how the hell am I?
  20. Ahh, so that's where I've been going wrong all these years!!
  21. That may upset the Mildenhall lot. Could have an an effect on attendances there How did you work that out Neil? I made it 7.22 (4.51 + 60%)
  22. No Swedish Rockets in the side, so Tuesday would be fine for us
  23. Tuesday would be a hugely unpopular race night with all the sides that have riders that race in the Swedish League
