  1. I agree, shows what can be done when the people involved want to.
  2. Track looks far to wet going forward, what will happen if Lynn take a 4-2 in heat 10? called off? i doubt it!
  3. Whilst it is within the rules that a result can be called after ten heats, for a knockout type match this is highly unfair on the home side who would get less heats to throw down their home advantage also less heats for the away team to rescue a meeting, for such an important occasion and lets face it, the plays are played up to being the be all and end all of the season, its a scenario which is highly unsatisfactory regardless of what team you support. That said as far as i am concerned the season being the complete farce that it has, means that no matter how it ends it is not going to change much about how it will be looked back on, in that respect i can see many people within the sport as well as some fans who i would not blame for having the attitude of, lets just get this done no matter how ugly it becomes, the damage is already done.
  4. Very true! less is more! Going to speedway should be a treat, not a force of habit.
  5. I think Matt Ford has hit the nail on the head somewhat and its a point i eluded to many many pages ago, although Matt being part of the "system" is really as much to blame as any other promoter. Fact is they "the promoters" despite only having to fit in 17/18 home meetings in a six month period still failed to manage it, they are just like Sky Sports coverage, they try to pan everything out then when something goes wrong it ends up going into overtime when if they had just got on with it, it would not have been a problem.
  6. No idea on points or even if the Elite League will resemble anything like what we have seen this year but i would love to see AJ back as its a treat to watch him miss the start, Lawson certainly should return, he is now very much an out and out Hammer and someone the crowd can really get behind as one of their own. Mikkel B Jensen if conflicting dates can be avoided or limited is another i would welcome back with open arms, Kim Nilsson i am sure will be in contention, he still needs to improve his scores on these shores but can be a handy rider down the card and if there is any chance of Danny King returning that would be good, he has always been a popular rider at Lakeside much like his brother was. Other riders who have never been Hammers riders bar guest that i would like to see possibly included are Hans Andersen, Rory Schlein, Ricky Wells and Timo Lahti
  7. The fault does not lie with Poole or Kings Lynn or indeed the weather for that matter. I blame the bspa for not getting their S**T in order and making sure each club can pull off what should be a simple task of fitting 13/14 home meetings in within a five month period, the play offs should be held in September, not the back end of October, its the same every season.
  8. Will sky show the rearranged match (if it does get called off) they didnt the other year when Lakeside were involved.
  9. I would think Swindon will have this, certainly can't see them losing by more than four or five.
  10. When you don't think the sport will get any more farcical i predict they will get ten heats in then call of it because one team will suddenly decide tactically they don't fancy it.
  11. I fully agree with the OP and in fact suggested something similar only a week or two ago. Poole have finished top so the challenge is there for Pirates fans! regardless of whether you win the play offs, will you be clubbing together to give the club something to honor their top of the table finish? You claim to be the biggest club with the biggest fan base, well lets see you set an example then! Please do not come back and say it does not matter because you will win the play offs anyway, this is not about the play offs! its about recognizing that a team has over the course of a season has out performed their competition. The BSPA wont ever do anything officially for fear that it might take some of the gloss of the play offs which might then put the sky deal in jeopardy?
  12. So many matches have taken place with guests that the whole league table has been shaped by their use, in fact it would not be wrong to take the league table and add the suffix "Select" after every team name. I think there is very little between all four select sides that will be in the play offs although i think the Swindon Select Robins have a slight edge if Peter and Troy are on good form.
  13. Think i will put up with the crap racing and bumbling presenters to see how this turns out, im thinking comfortable Pirates win by around 14-16 points Two riders excluded already for jumping at the tapes and Steady got away with a flyer, mind you only way Lions will win is by cheating like that though
  14. Ummm no Shawn lol, he has quickly sussed out his team are on to a hiding so its down with his average for next seasons, return to Poole lol
  15. Keep on dreaming, i said last week the Hammers had already thrown in the towel for the season and to say our away form is poor is being kind. Ladies and Gentlemen a third in his first ride followed by pulling up in his second after not even a lap, Agent Watt is in the house!
  16. Absolutely, in the A fixture he scored 6+1, i think he will double that tonight 11/10 on Davey Watt over 7 points
  17. Sky biased towards Poole? yeah guys you can see where this is going over the next few weeks. I have turned the sound right down myself, as much as anything else i can't stand Websters silly interviews where her questions can only be described as rhetorical.
  18. I have always said if my team finished top of the league and failed to win the play offs i would personally buy the club a trophy to mark it, nothing to stop anyone else doing that or a bunch of fans clubbing together to get a really nice sized cup to present to their club, i am sure a picture could even be placed in the star and whilst the cup would be completely unofficial i bet there is nothing in the rule book that says you cannot do this. There should be something to show for coming top of the league, even if the majority of matches this season have effectively been select sides playing each other. This is an open challenge to fans of either Kings Lynn or Poole (which ever one finishes top) if you subsequently do not win the play offs, get your supporters club to arrange for collection so that a trophy maybe purchased and engraved marking the fact you finished top of the league and make it public so fans from other clubs are aware of it and this can then be made a seasonal tradition, does not matter what sky or the bspa think about this, its an unofficial but merited trophy, nothing they can do about it. The challenge has been made, will you accept it?
  19. Doctors notes mean absolutely nothing, remember the season when Ulamek was riding for Oxford and was able to ride in the home meetings yet was always ill/injured for the away ones.
  20. The only excuse i hear for not running fewer meetings is that some riders would not ride as much as they would like and some stadium owners would like to see the stadium used more often. Well, on the first point, there is nothing to stop a rider from earning money outside of speedway if the sport does not provide him with enough chances to ride. Secondly if a stadium owner/owners don't like speedway being every two weeks or so maybe they would prefer it for the speedway operation to go bust then have no money coming in at all. I know every track has a couple of hundred die hard fans who want speedway weekly and would turn up even if their promoter killed Bambies mother but they are a small minority. No squad system needed if your only doing 8/9 home and away meetings, the top riders draw crowds, this has been proven time and time again. what the Elite League has needed for years is quality not quantity.
  21. Come on Lynn, you can beat these Rabid Solicitor Lions With that abomination of a track i hope they finish bottom.
  22. Starman I was not claiming any rule had been broken, just saying how it shows the gulf between two sides when one clubs number one would be another teams number four.
  23. I think Harris is a poor choice, around Leicester a riders form does not matter, you just need someone who can gate well, it really is that simple. I think with Cook in the side Lions will get the win.
  24. Shows how weak Lakeside finished as Watty was their number one yet guests for Poole and is riding as a second string!
