Lakeside-v- Belle Vue 5 Th August.
marko replied to E I Addio's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
It's about time we ditched the Friday race night and raced Saturday instead, we don't race Grand Prix weeks anyway so what difference would it make? Our next home meeting is ironically on a Saturday! -

We have and have had riders who can ride bigger tracks just that when they come to us they forget how to ride them but the main issue is just poor team building using riders with very limited potential to improve if at all. I like Kelvin but one of the reasons he was brought in was to help with the bikes yet we are over halfway through the season and some of the boys are still struggling for power or something, Robert has been racing a lawnmower engine for much of the campaign, it's something that surely should have been sorted? -

Except Fricke earlier in the season scored just two points where as Morris with Swindon a couple of weeks ago got paid 12 from 6 rides, it is very much Aces to lose. -

We can cover for Eddy at home? we didnt have Eddy against Poole, how did that one work out for us? I can only see crowds dropping off further than they have been already this season, I hate getting drawn into such negativity but this scenario does have air of familiarity about and its a shame as I thought we had a decent team this season if everyone lived up to expectations but nearly half the team were coming back from retirement or injury and in truth you look at the stats and it was a gamble that did not pay off, I think fans of other clubs were probably more wise to that than ourselves who were going on blind faith it would work out. -
Belle Vue V Lakeside Wed 3rd August

One big league? No thanks, I would rather Lakeside dropped down a level which would make more sense as they could blood some youngsters from their youth ranks. I would miss having AJ in the team but most of the rest could still ride for us in some capacity. -
I have always loved the look of the bikes and the smell and noise that they produce, the spectacle of four riders throwing their bikes around and making it look easy and nothing quite beats the sight of when a rider overtakes another through a gap that never appeared to exist.

Rockets V Somerset Sun 31st July 4pm Double Header
marko replied to waco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Just as well it did not rain, it would have turned that place into an ice rink such was the lack of dirt on it, i am sure the riders probably didnt mind it as it looked smooth enough so probably a doddle to ride on but not normally the best receipe for good racing. Not been to Rye House for a long while, what is actually being built, place looked like a building site in that clip? -

I wonder if Rye could fit Lewis Bridger in their team if its a desire of his to double down? I can only see it being a positive for the lad who frankly does not race enough just riding for the Hammers and from a Rye perspective having him, Edward and Robbo in the same team would be entertainment for the effort they are know to put in on track. -

Sick of hearing about how great this place is supposed to be, every meeting I have seen from here has been rubbish, far far better has been witnessed at Lakeside, a track many are only to happy to take a swing at for the same supposed lack of racing. -

Forget the so called farce of Lakeisde vs Poole, that last heat was utter fn BS -
I highly recommend using netweather radar, the site updates itself every five minutes and shows a true picture of any current weather around, you can use It to work out the direction of any storm and how fast its travelling and what sort of rainfall is being experienced within that storm in mm, probably the best way of "risk assessing" whether to make a journey or not, after all you can have 100 people telling you its dry at 5pm but it all means nout if there is a huge band raining about to hit area within the next couple of hours.

On paper the Robins look stronger than the Poole team that visited recently, I still think we are strong favourites to win but nothing can be taken for granted, looking forward to at least some good races involving Jason Doyle, amazing to think how he has developed when at one point I thought he was just always likely to be a rather erratic reserve/second string. Justin and Robbo are also popular around Lakeside so they will get a good reception, Bjarne is the wild card, he must surely be looking to prove a point tonight? Riding in a heat leader slot too, which is what he would have been for us originally.
-
Does that mean Bjarne will ride at reserve? After the Poole result I am not taking anything for granted.

Never seen a poor meeting from here, great track and quite frankly regardless of its size is better than any race track in the UK imo

Lakeside V Wolves Friday 15th July
marko replied to tocha's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I could not have been more wrong with my prediction, AJ, Edward and Kim were really on it last night, Lewis B tried as always but sometimes was in the wrong place at the wrong time, still a little cause for concern with the reserves but it was announced Ben Morley will be getting a chance soon. Seems Lewi Kerr is no longer with revolution speedway? -

I think Wolves will edge this one, worried about whether Eddy will be fully over his recent health problems. -

Just want to check, is this more of a farce than the Lakeside vs Poole meeting? -

I will give it half hour, if the racing is not better than Monday i will watch the football instead. -
At Lakeside it isn't a case of shuffle out, more a case of run like the start of the Le Mans race, Crazy! but this has been the case since second halves were scrapped which allowed for a much more gradual egress from the stadium. I prefer to hang around afterwards unless I have to be up early the next day as it avoids waiting to get out of the car park.

marko replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think it is the bikes, I blame them for a lot of the sports current ills including the cost of actually riding the things. I remember Swindon being a really good track, same as Kings Lynn and that has also seem to have lost a lot of its spark whenever I have seen meetings from their on the telly. Also I don't know where this talk about Lakeside getting poor crowds has come from? bar the televised meetings the levels have been respectable, and the Poole match in the A fixture was very attended. -

Poor track prep ruined this meeting, really bugs me that in this day and age its all about getting a meeting on rather than providing quality racing, its like going into a restaurant and being served under cooked food than being told, well its better than no food at all, yeah but thats not what we pay for. I also don't get the whole EL vs PL thing, both can provide good racing and poor meetings, close meetings and one sided meetings, I've supported Arena Essex/Lakeside in effectively all three levels of competition down the years and whilst I love having guys like Andreas Jonsson and in the past Leigh Adams and Mark Loram in my team, my preference is actually for the PL, simply because its more meetings on a regular basis against more varied opponents. -

Not sure, think the track staff might have bottled it but hopefully they can some moisture into the track, needs it. -
With pleasure, I got their about 19:50 and was surprised to see the car park have as many cars as it did, indeed inside the arena there were more people than I thought there would be so from a crowd point of view I don't think it was too bad. In terms of racing the track did seem quite wet and early on riders were getting a bit filled in, trying build up speed looked hard as the roost was slowing riders behind down, the times of the wins though proved the track has some grip in it though, I don't recall a heap of passing to be honest, maybe a handful of genuine passes at most. Pirates were often just that bit sharper out of the gates, Starke, Ellis and Holder at least and once the latter was out in front he was gone, best I have seen him ride our place for some time, AJ could not even get near him which you seldom see most weeks when he chasing an opposing rider. The tale of the tape was just three heat wins for the home side versus 12 for the Pirates, no team will win a match with only three heat winners. I suspect had Poole been at full strength they would have won more convincingly and certainly this was a wake up call for the Hammers promotion, there is no consistent backup AJ and whilst it will still be a better season than 2015 if they want to be a competitive unit in the play offs, a change or two will probably be required.
