Leicester Lions Vs Swindon Robins 17/07/17
marko replied to The Observer's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The problem isn't with the tracks, it's the damn bikes, when oh when will something be done so that the sport can be returned to one where throttle control wins over pure give it everything, hold on and hope. Dont change the tracks to the point we are racing on concrete, change the flipping bikes, upright engines, better silencers etc -

Leicester made two huge errors. not naming a number 8 which many years ago you had to when using r/r and secondly young Riss' lack of awareness. But congrats to Swindon, it takes two teams to make a match and whilst it was a car crash it had my attention from start to finish, all 150 mins of it. -

Absolute dick move by Riss regardless of whether its a team mate or not. -
My thoughts, the trophy should either have all the clubs in it or not run at all. It certainly should not have teams in it made up of select sides taking riders from other NL sides like Zach riding for Swindon for example, double up/down if you must, double across is simply mind boggling.
-
I bet the landlords at Arena still want whatever they have charged in the past for their pitiful stadium.
-
There is so much doubling up/down that "own" riders no longer exist for the most part. I agree though, that it would attract more fans if teams were made up of riders who only rode for someone else via a rare guest appearance than all and sundry.
-
Probably not possible but the only way forward is Saturday night racing, the M25 is a no go most week day nights, Friday being often exceptional with people going away for the weekend, even Sunday on some stretches can be a bit dodgy with people coming home from a day or weekend away.
-
Nah im not sad, just very unhappy, and that unhappyness is not down to some bias towards top riders, the problems are endemic to British Speedway at all levels, not just to Lakeside and not just to the NL. I wish i could have the tolorance displayed by the likes of East End Fan, and many years ago I did, but not anymore. The BSPA have slowly destroyed the buzz I used to get from the sport, its like being addicted to a drug but you cant take it anymore because it makes you sick. but if you don't take it you get withdrawal symptoms, simply walking away after 30 years is not easy to do and I don't want to be rid of speedway, I want it back like how it was when I enjoyed it.
-
That's like saying please come to our crap restuarant and eat our crap food, otherwise we might have to close and you won't be able to come again next year and enjoy the same poor standards. Well guess what? those people don't come back, they find/do something else. Meanwhile the owners of the restaurant now bankrupted, are forced to stand in line at the employment agency looking for another job and they have no one to blame but themselves.
-
Certainly an issue of safety with these tracks, if you go down to the base you can no longer put water down because it will make it like riding on ice, no water means you can't control any dust and gawd forbid it should rain. Speedway is about riding on a shale or in the past a cinder track, not concrete or tarmac.
-
Does anyone else recall the days where two teams would have a rider missing and rather than use guests or R/R they agreed to both promote a number 8 and give another youngster a chance? We don't even see number 8's now when teams use R/R yet alone them getting promoted.

Speedway World Cup 2017
marko replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Excellent meeting and whilst of the Brits gave it a go they ended up almost like being the British version of the rolling roadblock Filip Sitera, gating and generally just getting in the way until the riders behind could work there way through. Million miles behind the Poles on every level of the sport, tracks, stadiums, fans, you name it. -

Team GB are a million miles behind the Poles and will continue to be whilst our riders double up at home riding against nothing but sub par opponents, to get better you need to ride against the best, not Championship reserves who in turn double down in the 3rd tier. Riders like Worral and Lambert shouldnt be anywhere near events like this, they only are because of the state we have allowed the sport in this country to decend to. -

I love Karma -
This should certainly help the kid, I think he is currently on course to finish the best second string in the NL, although it will massively help having three strong heat leaders keeping him there.
-
Very good heat of speedway on youtube from this meeting involving Stoneman and Coles (mentioned above), and not blue groove in sight. Sorry to hear about the injury to Ben.

This is proper speedway, how it should be, British promoters take note! -
Nothing new there then, I am sure the Voice of Reason will be able to comfirm that its very rare to see Jon Cook travel North of the Watford Gap or even work more than just one day a week when it comes to speedway and that was when Lakeside were in speedways top division! Home meetings and Eastbourne and that's about it, its why Hammers have always been poor on their travels, no Fs are given.
-
Saw pictures posted of the track, it's a disgrace, massive blue groove after just a few heats of racing, but it seems this is the norm for this track.
