  1. Unless Pijper was given a wild card for the 2014 World Long Track Finals, he will not be involved as he did not enter the qualification round for the remaining Final slots for 2014 which was run at the end of 2013 season.
  2. Looking likely that Kevin Woelbert is not in BV plans. Reckon his converted ave would be 8.4 so will Redcar be interested ?
  3. Given Robert Lambert is friendly with Lewis Kerr I wonder if he is a possibility ? Only problem would be if King's Lynn have Kerr & Lambert at reserve, they probably would not wish both riding for the same PL side. If Berwick use Carr instead of Starke, then PS might be a target. Likewise if Ellis is not in Ipswich plans, he's worth considering.
  4. IMO the greatest impact in the diminishing number of UK riders in the sport is the increasing cost of purchasing and maintaining competitive equipment. Notwithstanding that some are fortunate to be assisted by generous sponsors, they still need to maximise the use of their expensive equipment, hence why doubling up provides an essential return on investment in order to make a decent income.
  5. Re weather, this was posted on Edinburgh website at 2.35pm :- " the rain is off and it's not coming back, and the sun is shining at the track! Online tickets are still available if anyone was wavering while the weather around the country looked threatening. "
  6. Personally I'd scrap the League Cup and truncate the season to start in April and finish by September. Agree if both legs are cancelled, or it is an aggregate draw, that Somerset should be champions on the basis of superior position in league table. However if only one leg is completed, the winner of that contest, should be declared Champions. BTW the weather for tomorrow might not be as bad as earlier predicted. The online weather forecast site, yr.no, is predicting minimal rainfall in the Armadale area between 2pm - 9pm on Friday.
  7. The fact that Brady Kurtz has already ridden in the 2013 Australian U-21 Championships should be taken into account, and imo, would make him ineligible for a 3 point start GSA, irrespective of dual nationality/patriality.
  8. Perhaps because of the exceptional circumstances of both clubs having the same race night, Somerset should be allowed to hold the second leg on Friday, 1st November. There have been in instances in previous seasons where official matches have been held in November. (e.g Edinburgh vs Berwick, KO Cup Final was held on 6th November, 1981)
  9. Suffering from amnesia ? To remind you, Rebels had first and third choices in selecting Play-Off Group opponents as reward for being League winners. Where is it stipulated that the League winners are automatically assigned seniority regarding race day, in the Championship Play Offs ? I would imagine Edinburgh would be agreeable to Somerset having the choice of holding either the first or second leg, but to expect them to also surrender their long established Friday race night is unreasonable.
  10. Apart from the top team having first choice in selecting opponents in the 3 team mini leagues , the race day priority does not appear to be specified in the published regulations - 18B.4 PREMIER LEAGUE PLAY-OFFS.
  11. No meeting at Armadale this Friday, irrespective of result at STMP.
  12. Apparently was a stipulation added later at one of the three year renewals . The three year renewal has now been dropped but as far as I am aware the time & weekly restrictions still apply.
  13. IIRC Only 1 meeting weekly between specified hours (7pm - 10pm ??) are permitted. Any additional meetings require dispensation from the local authority.
  14. Appearance is a personal choice and nobody else's business. However before deciding on body art, it is advisable to consider if there are any health implications. This article is worth a read : http://www.naturalne...ealth_skin.html
  15. Whereas the report in the Independent on 7th October states: "At the end of the trial, Judge Michael Lawson QC questioned the evidence given by the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons" So perhaps the Moderator was justified to expurgate your previous post.
  16. Well the likes of Craig & Jason Doyle appear to be doing quite well in prospering in both the PL (which provides considerably more meetings than the EL) and the EL. They are both heat leader standard in the EL, having improved their EL averages whilst continuing to reap the benefit of a regular, uninterrupted racing schedule in the PL. Compare their situation to the likes of Lewis Bridger who rides only in the EL and the lower Polish League tier and whose career appears to have stagnated, As seems likely the Sky tv money will be shortly be disappearing from the EL, and any rider opting to abandon the PL for the EL exclusively, may well end up losing out financially. At the end of the day it is up to the individual rider to decide his destiny, and no doubt Craig will be counselled by those with better judgement than some blinkered internet pundit
  17. What a performance from the Monarchs ,who have never come within 6 pts of the homesters on previous visits. 6 pts down after 10 heats, they manufacture a 14 pt turnround over the remaining 5 heats - fantastic ! Arithmetically if Ipswich were to win by more than 14 pts tomorrow, then Worky would go through, but even I do not expect that to happen
  18. A Workington fan with a dislike for Cookie apparently
  19. Due to the vagaries of the weather which can either ruin or cancel/abandon meetings, Speedway, like Cricket, is a risky business to commit outside broadcasting resources. I would imagine that the viewing figures for Cricket are far more substantial than Speedway and make the inclement weather a worthwhile risk. I can therefore understand why SKY are taking cold feet and will not reconsider live Speedway broadcasts until there are effective measures taken to combat bad weather..
  20. As the final Play Off fixture (Diamonds vs Rebels) is scheduled for 13/10, that would be bad news - surely the local outcry would force the rugby club to relent. Only feasible alternatives would be to move fixture to Berwick or Newcastle (if they didn't make the Final),
  21. Well done Worky to dispatch the Group favourites Cannot envisage Monarchs taking four points off Ipswich as apart from Cookie, we are poor at Foxhall Heath and unlikely to get within six points there. With the October Green Sheets taking effect, Max Fricke moves into main body and Derek Sneddon drops to reserve which will restrict Edinburgh's scoring options. On the other hand, Witches can now replace Ellis with a PL guest and together with the in-form Hawkins as the other reserve, expect this to be decisively in favour of Ipswich at home.
  22. Worky now favourites to reach the PO Final after winning at Foxhall Heath tonight and would not be surprised if they repeat their result at Armadale tomorrow. Unlike the smug Suffolk mob, we realise that any visiting team when on their game can get a result at our well prepared track. With three ex Monarchs in their side and buoyed by their gubbing of the Witches, this will be a tough task for the Monarchs.
  23. Would imagine Bates will be riding for Mildenhall in the afternoon - is Louis hiring a supersonic helicopter to take him to Brough Park
  24. Congratulations to Oliver, who has had more than his fair share of nasty injuries throughout his career and deserves this success. He is also one of the long distance competitors who never refuses a booking to the Scottish Open and always puts on a good show.
