  1. Believe reason Vojens not doing more GPs for time being is Stadium being developed, roof on?
  2. Do think the problem with the starting grids needs addressing. Last night the ruts looked deeper than the trenches in the first World War. I know not possible to use concrete starts, but something needs doing Robbie B agree with you 100% or should it be 110% about bring back the old GP challenge, with perhaps. The wild card system is a mockery, but not sure how it will happen as the organisers seem to run the show. Not sure that Cardiff would suffer if no Brit rider.
  3. Congratulations Greg, a worthy World Champion, wish I had been there. Always will remember you from your days riding for Cradley Heath. Nice plug again from Nigel on Sky last night!
  4. Thanks Man on the Terrace, have found it n ow will try and remember for next GP. Nice to see you appear to be a Cradley Fan
  5. Thanks MAN ON THE TERRACE, cannot fathom how to access on the Holsted Speedway site myself
  6. My thanks too Danish Webmaster, managed to download your race card minutes before the start. Will know where to look next time
  7. Believe the Ullevi Stadium is only available for Speedway early in the season, but agree it is far to early, they have only just got rid of the snow!
  8. There were certainly empty seats around the stadium. Think floods in Poland kept many of the Poles away, who usually help to fill the place. It is seating now all round the stadium except for a small section on the third bend near the pits. Have certainly seen bigger crowds in the past. Interesting to see the amount of advertising for the match around Prague. Posters on lamp posts, on the trams and on the underground trains. I have only ever seen one poster in past years.
  9. Have now returned from Prague and would like to say that track was best it has ever been. Ole Olsen was around which was a bit strange, but imagine was in his new capacity. Track has one problem when sun is shining in that home straight is in the shade, and remainder is drying out quicker, hence the dust at times. The track was watered and graded as usual after each four heats. Seemed to be a problem on third bend when Emil Sayfutinov fell and also of course the Gollob/Jonsson incident, which has taken up a lot of this topic. I personally like Andreas, but no way was Gollob at fault. It was a racing incident and Gollob was in front at the time, the various camera angles do perhaps give a different impression. For example it appears as if Tomasz back wheel caught Andreas leg. At least Andreas exclusion meant the annoying Swedes did not keep standing up and waving their banner, although they did when Gollob came out. Someone in our party new to Speedway and had only seen it on TV was impressed how fast it was. Really think you had to be there this time to get true picture of what was happening. Have not seen TV coverage yet, but can assure any doubters Nigel Pearson was definitely at the track. In spite of what people say Prague should stay on the GP circuit, it is a natural track in a lovely city, with direct flights from various airports in UK. Once there public transport is excellent, oh and the beer is good as well. The city was really buzzing this time as well because the Czechs beat Russia at Ice Hockey for the cup.
  10. Think reason track was slick, was because it was forecast to be very cold, in fact it did not look very warm!. With dirt on track, would have needed watering and might have become icy and we would have had ice speedway, but no spikes. Really too late in season to be holding the GP in Poland. If it has to be this late, should be in a warmer country, Italy or Spain say.
  11. Notice you can watch meeting on computer, but not in Uk for a price of £4.99. This may be the way Sky will operate for Speedway in the future, that is if they continue to show it. Must say the Red Button technology is clever, but is a nuisance for people who wish to record and watch later. It works quite well for Speedway as there are lots of natural breaks. Wonder how the football fans would react if you had to use during an exciting time of the match
  12. I have been told that the track at Ullevi is being shipped to Copenhagen! True or false?
  13. Gothenburg is a lovely city and Ullevi a great stadium, but unless they can get the track right, why on earth have IMG signed an extended contract. When the track was more or less permanent there were no problems, but this one off variety does not work, in spite of the fact if has been down for 7 weeks. Do not think Antonio Lindback would have done as well if TR had not been in his corner, neither would Emil S. if it had not been for the TR racing team in his corner oh and of course the referee. Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris have beaten all these riders at one stage or another, thought this time Chris would have at least made semi final, but dreadful track caught him out. Scott and Chris both need good sponsors and tuners and mechanics in the pits with them. Would be interesting to see what difference TR in their corner would make
  14. I only had camera angles on TV to look at, so do not know what ref based his decision on. Definitely NOT Nicki Pedersen at fault this time. However think that inexperience of Emil coupled with the track conditions caused the incident. Nicki had plenty of room to pass inside, but as he went under Emil the latter decided to turn left and caught Nickis back wheel. Anyway that is what Sky TV showed

  17. Lot of empty spaces on the terraces, reckon more spectators at Polish League match. Referee only had to make two decisions all night, both wrong. Nicki was right should at least have been all four back. Walasek did as Nicki said take Bomber out in rerun, but was Bombers fault should have cut inside. AJ tape decision is beyond comprehension. Track was rubbish, how can anyone complain about one off tracks again. Think GPs are on the way out. Finally if Harris and Nicholls do not perform better at Gothenburg, they should throw the towel in.
  18. The problem at Prague as I think Sam Ermolenko pointed out, is they tend to over water the track. This early in the season is stupid, as although warm daytime, still gets cold at night, so track does not dry out, as proved at Coventry on Friday night. Whilst I am not an Ole Olsen fan, he cannot be blamed for the amount of water put on to the track. He has to have slick tracks because of the tight schedule with Sky TV, finished on time last night for once, in spite of Semi Final 2 rerun, the only incident of the night.; On another topic, just how many people turned up at the track, 10,000 was mentioned, they must have been standing on top of each other in the standing area. The only full area seemed to be the main stand area, usually filled with sponsors.
  19. Have to agree too early for Prague, have been mid May which is better, Wonder if organisers ever stop to consider the fans. Really the first one ought to be inside, when it might be a bit warmer, or at least further South.
  20. Thank goodness I did not. Do not know whether we shall ever hear the truth about this cancellation, but think there is a hidden agenda somewhere. My understanding is that the shale came from Denmark by barge last year and was stored somewhere in Germany. It either got wet in storage of after it was delivered to the stadium. The authorities must have known soon after laying the track there were going to be problems, proved when the practice was cancelled. So at the latest they knew on Friday the meeting was in doubt. There is no way they could organise at a moments notice a meeting in Poland, this must have been set up earlier in the week after consultation with Bydgoszcz and the riders. It really stinks and whilst it will not happen I hope the Polish fans boycott the meeting. It is time speeday was run b y someone who knows what they are doing. BSI proved they cannot do it, look at Reading and IMG are no better.
