Coventry Bees V Leicester Lions 25/03/2016
GREDON replied to Woz01's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
According to this weeks Speedway Star, at the moment looks as if Coventry are only one of Elite and Premier League tracks not offering concessions to OAPs. Believe quite a few OAPS have decided to stop going. Will have to see if team performs, might persuade some to come back -
Think if and when Coventry move, they will take the shale off the track with them, plus the starting gate, air fence and other fence, plus lamp standards etc. Perhaps the seats out of the grandstand, in fact anything moveable to save money
-
Unfortunately, apart from Mr Sandhu, Mr Heaver and to a lesser extent Mr Horton, none of us can say with any certainty what will happen. If the possible site is where I think it is, it will be ideal. Whether we all like it or not it has to be said that Brandon Stadium cannot go on much longer without a lot of money being invested, and whilst I cannot speak for the Stocks, the number of people coming through the turnstiles would not warrant any. Have a walk round next time you visit, the place is falling apart, it cannot be long before someone says this is not safe until you do this etc I know we will probably end up with something like Somerset, which can be built on over the years. I hope things are going on behind the scenes.

What has all this to do with Coventrys New Stadium?
-
The articles I have read about possible new land for stadium seem to indicate border of Coventry and Rugby, hence need to get planning permission from both councils. However nothing can be done before old stadium knocked down, which does not help. If proposal is where I think it is the future for Speedway and Stock Cars looks promising. Fans need to get behind Mr Sandhu and Mr Heaver, and give their support.

Looks as if Mick has had a word with Chancellor Osborne, see Pensioners are to have £3+ per week increase in 2016 to help defray Bees admission costs and programme

Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..
GREDON replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Friday night is a nightmare on the roads even if your track is local. For example unless you live next door, try getting to Coventry from anywhere in say 30 mile radius -
As it might well be Coventrys last season, will riders want to commit bearing in mind they may be out of a job at the 2016 season end?
-
Wonder when riders flew out to Melbourne. Might have been my imagination, but some looked to be suffering from jet lag

Play Offs Should They Be Scrapped.?
GREDON replied to stratton's topic in Speedway News and Discussions

Coventry V Swindon - 21/08/2015
GREDON replied to Grachan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You could actually fill programme in by second bend, not very often you can say that. Even on rare occasions Coventry made the gate, they seemed to slow to let Swindon past. Bees gave impression they were not interested, unusual this season. Missed Garrity, and Danny King should not have ridden, although he did well for Ipswich on Saturday. Whilst would not disagree Robbo should have been replaced, especially with a head injury, it is not easy to find a rider who can be present at all remaining matches, four week after next , so it virtually rules out any Polish or Swedish riders, probably Kyle Howarth if out of work is the only one. -
Coventry V Kings Lynn Fri 31st July 2015
GREDON replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Good crowd, nice night, speedway not bad either, thought Bees had blown it early on. Gosh even took a while to get out of stadium, shades of British Final on a Sunday afternoon some years ago. If this carries on can they really close Brandon down? -
Eurosport Or Sky ?
GREDON replied to rob tatum's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Eurosport although using same feed as Sky would use, spend more time showing us speedway at the track. As rob tatum says too much time spent with Keith and Sam analysing what has gone on when Sky do it -
Ole Olsen was a prime instigator of the GPs in the first place, and has also been responsible for track preparation at many tracks, especially the temporary variety. As a Speedway rider himself, he should have known that the track at Tampere was a no no, wrong shape etc. He certainly would not have ridden it himself and would probably have been responsible for encouraging the other riders to pull out. It is time for the GP organisers in future, to have one or two of the modern riders, involved in design and preparation of temporary tracks. The Tampere track may have had restrictions on where it could be laid. although this seems in doubt now that they are talking about altering it for next year. Thank goodness I did not go, would have preferred it in Helsinki.

Grand Prix Speedway is expensive to attend, especially compared with Polish League meetings. Perhaps the fans would rather watch the League, where the top stars ride, rather than travel to GPs containing an increasing number of lacklustre riders. I have been to Bydgoszcz GPs in the past that without a prior bought ticket you had no chance of getting into the stadium

Depends where you live, I had mine yesterday in the Midlands
-
The country that wins this years Final stages next years, whilst this may mean Poland and Denmark every year so be it. No need then to have wild card country. Four riders per team plus one reserve, who can have up to 5 rides. Tactical sub if necessary, but not double points and definitely no Joker, this should have gone with Its a Knockout on TV

Bydgoszcz Gp Saturday 20th April
GREDON replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Definitely best GP for a long time, lots of passing and repassing. Would have finished very early if not for tapes malfunction. Eurosport prentation heaps better than Sky. We stay at the track all the way through except for Adverts, which do not seem so intrusive. Much better without Studio team, keep up the format Eurosport. Looked cold at track, is it ever going to get warm in Europe? -
Speedway was not good., However have to say Eurosport presented it very well, almost felt I was there except for the adverts. Much better presentation than Sky, showing plenty of action from the track, including presentations at begining and end. No visits to Studio thank goodness. Anchor man who ever he was, kept things going but was not seen. Please note Eurosport more of the same please and do not copy SKY. Exclusions were a pity, but unfortunately someone has to be excluded if race is stopped as declared in the rules. Not easy decision for ref, but if a rider on the ground it is always likely to be him selected. Liked Jason Bunyans inflatable suit, might safe a lot of nasty injuries.

Harris Threatens To Quit Team Gb
GREDON replied to JT's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Although Chris Harris has spent a lot of money on GP, or so he says, its is not enough,. These days I am afraid, with a few exceptions, it is the riders with big sponsors eg Red Bull, Munster, who do well. The GP is expensive to compete in with not much reward I feel, unless you are winner each time. One reason I feel Crumpie is giving up, he is not getting any younger, and wants to put some money away for when he finally hangs up his leatthers. One other thing Harris needs a good tuner and mechanics he can trust and not any other hangers on. -
I think bottom seven riders in Grand Prix should ride in another meeting against top nine in Challenge the top seven from this meeting go through to next years GPs. No wild cards, except for one selected for each GP, or is this too simple.
