The only reason I did not suggest Magnus was that he has signed for a Polish club in 2014. -

As per this weeks Speedway star Mr Hemsley is quoted as saying the last rider will be a familiar face so expect that to be Bjerre or Nemo -
It could well be Sheffield as have heard the new owner is looking at changing the race night to accomondate another couple of riders that ride in Sweden on Thursdays one of whom shall I say is like a member of the family

One of the things the Polish clubs are worried about is logistics as we all know flights often get delayed and riders often have 100-150 mile drives once they get to Poland depending on matches. The other thing is riders like Larsen,SundstrumLjung that Leicester are chasing do not ride in the top league in Poland and ride in 2nd or 3rd division for smaller clubs like Lodz,Pila etc these riders are there No1s and to their fans are like Holder and Ward to Torun fans. Polish clubs often have practice on Sats and club events I believe there may even be some Sat fixtures as well. -
My understanding is that if plans come through British Speedway will be better off financially as they have tv rights deal which will help attract sponsors to clubs as can offer exposure. This is also along with league sponsors who will pay to have their brand advertised at every track i would imagine along other benefits. There is also possible tv coverage sponsors whose bramd will be shown on the tv ad bumpers although this will be majority kept by the broadcaster.
-
I think some of the brands mentioned on here for sponsors are very funny but think it may all be PIE in the Sky if rumours I have been hearing are correct.
-
It costs between 28-40k a week to produce elite league coverage on Sky sports depending on location and whether the track is connected to the BT broadcast fibre network. If not and the broadcast requires satellite uplink the costs rise significantly. The amount that is dedicated to production for Speedway will rise again next season

Oh dear British Speedway promotors drop themselves in it again and annoy their broadcast partner just days after agreeing a new deal. I can tell you this slip up has not gone down well at Sky sports as they were not ready to announce the deal today as wanted to produce proper press releases and create some spin. The plan was to feature the deal on Sky sports news and a couple of rider interviews likely to have been Woofy and Nicholls. Nevermind it's done now

I wonder who it was that represented Leicester at the draft as I do have to agree that with the choices they had I would have not chosen the two riders the club did. -
It's funny you should mention about 4K some test footage was produced last season at Birmingham just to trial how the cameras coped with high speed constant moving items

Not sure if there is anything in this or not but have heard from two different sources that Jason Attwood could be returning back to Leicester as team manager. If true obviously some bridges have been built as understand last time didn't see eye to eye with Mr Hemsley I did notice though that he was at Leicester quite often last year as lives in the city. Like other posters Leicester need to start making some headway with team building the top end of the team as the bottom end other than reserves I fully expect one or two places to be taken by Kauko,Magnus and Doolan -
Unless anything has changed since Thursday the delay is waiting for the broadcasters PR team to release the press release they quite often delay things at the end of the monthuntil the start of the next calendar month to fit in with marketing campaigns or if they know its going to be a quiet month for press releases.

All will be revealed very soon and hopefully all supporters, promotors and broadcasters will be happy

It seems that Leicester are getting a bit of a shock with their elite league team planning for 2014. They are getting a surprise at rider wage demands and some have simply said No to them. I have heard strong reports that the Kaprazak deal will not happen due to his Poliish club not allowing him to ride on Saturdays before the Polish league and remember his previous club refusing to give him start permission when riding for Birmingham. I can see Kenneth Bjerre at Leicester and possibly Danny King -
It just seems a bit strange that Cook is making a big thing of this and actually saying that he has not signed for BV and Edinburgh. So he will lose face if that is where he is going after all why not just stay quiet on it
-
I think another attraction that Leicester has got is Cookie is looking at getting meetings in Poland in 2014 so Leicester would suit on Sat nights then head down to Stansted with other riders. In fact I did hear that at end of the season that Leicester were looking at hiring a mini bus to take riders down to Stansted after home meetings bit like they do in Poland and Sweden
-
I am sorry to say but there is no chance of Speedway being pay as you view on Sky.
-
Obviously I am not sure whether Terry Russell or anybody else from the BSPA has spoken to BT sport but there seems to be some interest from them how much remains to be seen. What I do know is they have been asking Telegenic Sky's OB partner for Speedway if they could still provide the OB resources for Speedway for BT with there extra workload as they are providing trucks and equipment to football World Cup and commonwealth games on top of usual work for Sky,BT and BBC for rugby union and league. From what I have been told the answer was yes as long as they have enough notice

Tommy there is a set top box software upgrade currently in development which will eventually allow users to press the text button which will then open Sky News,Sports or Movies apps very much like IPad ones with video all the content will be delivered via the broadband connection. Having seen the testing it's a lot better than Skytext which was expensive to provide. The new service will mean the same team that do Apple and Android content will provide tv app

No Sky Speedway = A New Opportunity

Yeah a lot of the BT figures are Virgin media XL customers who get the channel for free and Virgin pay around £1.20 per customer with group discount. So the revenue for BT sport at present is not that good. They need to get more Sky customers signed up especially the ones who don't have BT broadband -

Guitar Art - From speaking to people connected to the club you are partially right about music played during the presentation the cebtregreen announcer was a guy called Rob Sensicall who does the Leicester centre green presentation and the interviews there who I thought did a good balanced job although had to be told to quieten down a bit as coming across to loud on the Sky coverage. The music was done and played by Chris Simpson who is the usual Birmingham centregreen presenter but is currently not able to do the job as his SCB license has been revoked due to comments on here and social media. So the Abba song was his way of getting back at the SCB, I have to agree that it was an inappropriate song to play but does personally not surprise me after visiting Brandon earlier in the year and him playing Jim will fix it -

If there is to be no Sky deal in 2014 then in principle I agree with this idea and could work if fans really got behind it. The biggest problem I can see if the actual uploading and broadcasting from the track of the pictures. Most of the elite league tracks do not have fast enough broadband connections to allow broadcast of video and and I know of two that do have 100mb leased lines but you have no chance of using them. Sky have this year tried two technology forms this year both running over 4G connections which coverage is limited and at present the speeds are not good enough for live racing with pictures not good. This was ok for the around the tracks feature in the pits and even that often was downloaded onto a EVS server for play out into the show. My professional advice which I have given to certain people involved in the sport is if there is no tv deal available with any UK broadcaster see if the sport can gain the sponsorship to produce their own coverage like with the Greyhounds which they are currently doing for around 5-7k a week then Sky MAY be interested in giving the platform to broadcast if did not have to worry about the production costs and they would just pay some money for the rights ok the clubs would not get the big money payments but would keep it on our screens and it would be easier to get a new deal another season if can show the product. -
Birmingham V Poole Grand Final 2nd Leg

The rained off meeting is already likely to cost around an extra £5000 to cover now and if it had been put back until next Monday it would have been a further £3000 so yes on this occasion the costs did play a part into the restaging date. Also Sky were looking for some live sport other than football to go up against the football on ITV as there will still be a good number of loyal speedway viewers and also a good number recording to watch back later.
