Birmingham v Glasgow 12/07/23
bigcatdiary replied to Petecc's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Because they followed the rulebook and that’s what it states. 8.2.1 I) A refusal to undergo Anti Doping testing will be regarded for the purpose of application of penalties, identical to a positive test. 8.2.1 j) A rider who refuses to submit themselves prior to the start f heat 1to Anti Doping testing will be automatically excluded from further participation in that particular event. 8.2.1 z) If the outcome of the test(s) result is an immediate exclusion from the event, reserves or TS may be used to take the programmed rides where the excluded rider may have ridden Seems to have been followed to the letter. -
Viewing is very good, track and pits are rubbish

Leicester vs Peterborough 06/07/23 PREMIERSHIP R2

As explained earlier David, Niels could have been given a few seconds more, he had just done heats 12 & 13 so I dare say he needed some maintenance and possibly a tyre edge change., which was why he was late going to the gate. It sounds reasonable to me. -

Wayne Jarvis by his decision to exclude NKI delayed the meeting even more and made heat 15 a virtual non event bearing in mind FRICKE was unbeaten and Lawson had only been beaten once by NKI. Common sense should have been applied, supporters go to watch speedway not referees making poor decisions -
Surprisingly the crowds at Peterborough have been fairly good all season, a good bit better than Lynn I might add even though they have an excellent No 1.

Yep, Apart from the Pairs last year nothing since 1998

Leicester vs Peterborough 06/07/23 PREMIERSHIP R2
bigcatdiary replied to IainB's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Some reasonable points but NKI rode in heats 12, 13 and 15 so clearly could have had issues that needed attention including a likely tyre change, fuel, oil etc. Bearing in mind that the race wasn't deciding anything either points or aggregate etc, I think some time and common sense should have been applied and unfortunately Jarvis showed niether, having stated that Iversen was excluded for delaying the start the exclusion this action then delayed the meeting conclusion for another few minutes whilst his replacement got ready and appeared. It was all so pointless. -

Poor night from a Panthers team that little has gone right for from the start of the season but I do agree with Rob Lyon that you do need other things to be right for a good night of speedway and the first of those is a decent track. The Leicester track was a disgrace, super slick, dry and dusty and produced little passing after bends one and two of the opening lap, it was exactly the same for the Pairs last week so clearly that’s the norm. Jarvis also had a poor meeting with some very strange decisions ( especially the farce in heat 6) and making a point of excluding Iversen in heat 15 for delaying the start when all 14 riders had done exactly the same for the previous 14 races was frankly ridiculous. I observed all the riders off their bikes at the start trying to establish a decent start, surely if you wanted to make a point the first four heats would have been the time. -
Firstly Glasgow was very poor that goes without saying as 15 last places is a shocking statistic but let’s be fair Steve the Poole track is crap and that’s backed up by the almost complete lack of overtakes. Poole have an excellent home track advantage and took full advantage of Glasgows shocking performance. I am not sure who thought Vissing and Complin were a good idea but Brennan was outscored by Pijper. Its all been pretty downhill since Dickson left.

Well just make something up, that’s your speciality subject.

Sheffield v Peterborough Monday 3rd July
bigcatdiary replied to 4BenMoran's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The weather forecast for some the day at Sheffield was rain, so anybody going or planning to go was pre warned, if promotions don’t provide race day updates (and Sheffield are part of that) then you risk this type of problem. Its clear that it started to rain prior to heat 8 and then we had three heats where race times were 5 seconds slower than the previous seven, so clearly they raced it through to heat 10 and then talked about it, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that the home side wanted to get to heat 10 and I dare say pit talk was over that scenario. If the track was not raceable then they are basically saying heats 9 and 10 were completed to get a result and stuff the riders, you cannot have it both ways and yet that’s exactly what’s happened. This is something Phil Morris should be having an input on, I dare say he wasn’t in attendance, that coupled with the fact that Horley was the referee says everything we need to know. We decided not to travel bearing in mind the forecast and it proved to be the right one. -

It’s the referees who have the final say, generally in consultation with the team captains -
30.06.2023 - League - Scunny v Oxford
bigcatdiary replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Glad I am not the only one who thinks Superheats are just a waste of time and additional expense. We should have 3 points for each match, win 3, draw home team 1 and away team 2, lose 0. Let’s make it simple, their is nothing wrong with a draw. -
I must be honest Ben I think your coverage is superior to Eurosport

And Dickson stated that he had prepared the track different to normal, I am yet to see a decent meeting at Leicester in all the years it’s been open. The Panthers did very well, it’s clearly Worrall’s favourite track and Cook generally backed him up, but it’s almost always gate and go with very little overtaking.
