  1. Whatever groups are decided, some travelling to do for Somerset connections. Ipswich must be about the closest and that's a big trip.
  2. I may be totally blind and missed another thread, but I honestly haven't seen a thing about this meeting. Should be a good one Sheffeld having Worrall in for Stead and all the Tigers able to have a rr ride for Royno. Somerset looking quite powerful, and with the big guns firing should do well at Owlerton. Just hope the weather doesn't ruin the party.
  3. Been once before and gave up on the programme, didn't have a clue what was going on but still had a great time (the cheap beer helped). The Under 21 WTC could be a highlight this year....especially if the Aussie boys can pull it out of the bag...going to be tough!
  4. Three meetings in three days, including the Under 21 WTC right in the middle. Should be a great few days of racing. Any information on lineups, start times, good drinking and eating establishments, etc, etc etc. Looking forward to this one.
  5. I agree 100%, the scoreline doesn't reflect the fact that the Bandits were right in this for quite a while. the track was very slick, due to the non watering, totally understandable under the circumstances (very real threat of rain). Alden was a bit of an enigma, very fast in his first two but generally quite ineffective in other rides. I honestly thought Berwick had a chance of winning this after a handful of heats, infact without the efforts of Wright it could have been very very close.
  6. Good news, can't afford any bad breaks with the weather, especially with a KO Cup replay. Cya there mate.
  7. This joker is 100% proof that if you give someone without a brain a little bit of gossip, they become dangerous.
  8. On paper there doesn't appear to be much in this. The Rebels have definitely hit form lately and that may just give them the edge but I wouldn't put a large wager on this one. Looking forward to it...and together with other fans will be wearing my Ricky Ashworth wristband, and hoping a true racer can pull through.
  9. Anywhere to keep an eye on the GP during the evening? Will the Gold and Black club show a replay after the meeting?
  10. Some truly breathtaking blasts around the boards last night. Very very fast racing. The Comets were made to look ordinary, particularly by the Rebels top four.. Nick was very close to bettering Leigh Adams track record in heat 3, what an achievement that would have been (Alex wasn't far off in heat 5 either), an indication of just how fast the track was riding. The boys had to hang on for dear life...but what on earth was Aarnio doing in heat 11? Not the time or the place to be looking around for your partner, and very very fortunate he and others weren't badly hurt....spectacular crash. Watching the Rebels top 4's reaction to Gary May's heat 15 selection was quite entertaining too...
  11. Barker is a huge problem, I don't know why but he seems to rub people up the wrong way for one reason or another (on and off track) . In the past few weeks I know of at least three riders who have come to blows with him. Cookie maybe took things a little too far but there is one underlining factor, and that's Ben Barker.
  12. Glasgow were right in this for a fair old time. Some very good racing once more, and the first holiday crowd looked very reasonable.. The Tigers new Dane looks promising, and Greavesy looked quick at times. Useful performance by Starke for the Rebels, shame Berwick have tabs on him. Good all round display by the Rebels even with Morris still struggling to find the right setup for the Oak Tree Arena (getting close though).
  13. I thought it was a very good night's entertainment. You have to feel for the Comets but that's speedway. With three heats to go the Rebels needed a minor miracle and they got one. Mechanical gremlins, spills and thrills, I thought this meeting had a little of everything. The first time I haven't been cold at Somerset speedway. Long may it continue. Incidentally, more and more regulars from the Midlands and Swindon at the OTA...surely that says something about the entertainment dished out.
  14. Great crowd which was 90% Heathens (maybe more), CVS rubbing his hands together. Some pretty decent racing, I was impressed with the improvement shown by James Sargent and Max Clegg riding very maturely too. The result was pretty much academic really but it was a good show.
  15. Very impressive win for the Rebels. There for the taking after the two crashes but the team pulled together,.. Alex bouncing back with two wins, and the three heat leaders all firing again, when that happens this team takes some stopping.. Best wishes to Kyle Newman.
  16. If ever the saying "every point counts" came to prominence it was definitely last night. A lot of potential in that Rebels team.
  17. That bike was heading straight for Jason Doyle and Josh G, a few inches higher and it would have cleared the fence, and at a fair old rate of knots...spectacular stuff. Is Nielsen starting to become a liability?, he's been involved in quite a number of incidents already this year, and was clearly at fault in heat 2..
  18. I think its all about the way their boss abused the crap out of them all, in the vicinity of a number of people. Thoroughly enjoyed this meeting once it got going...it did take far too long to get heat two out of the way, and the track watering just before it was re run took too long. Some very good racing, Morris only gated once all night (his first ride) but worked his socks off to get the paid max. Fantastic last heat, great meeting overall with a close finish and amazing comeback by the Rebels.
  19. I usually enjoy my visits to Rye House, but last night the track looked bare, overtaking was at a premium until the latter stages when there were one or two moves. Why turns one and two were not worked on is beyond me, there was obviously a big problem there, I wasn't counting but at least four riders lost control there, they weren't novices either. I suppose the bitterly cold weather and the fact that there was no fish left by the time I got to the front of the que didn't add to the enjoyment either, no problems getting out of the car park but who was the idiot parked right in front of the exit?
  20. Hopefully this one will beat the weather, but it must be in some doubt. Fingers crossed.
  21. Somerset were very good today. However a few observations from a neutral. The track was very hard to ride early on, it did get better as the meeting wore on and heat 13 was a classic but I know a few riders were complaining after the meeting. Secondly, and I have to say this, should the home team promoter be slating his riders on the PA system during the meeting? Should he be walking up to home riders at the start line? Should he be taking the mick out of fans questioning refereeing decisions? I thought it was a pretty decent meeting overall...and if MPT gets his end of 2012 form back and Ryan Douglas can pick up a little and show his obvious potential I think Scunthorpe will have a reasonable side...they caught all seven Rebels in form and I believe they could take anyone to the sword on their day.
