  1. Score wise this meeting was very one sided, but the racing was top shelf. One of the best meetings I've seen this year. The track rode very very well. The King / Morris clashes were highlights for me. King was on the edge, very very fast. Very enjoyable. I've said it for a few weeks now, Somerset will be hard to beat over two legs against any team including Edinburgh.
  2. Incidentally, everyone saying all four back, may I just add that young Max would have been excluded by some referees in that situation. Which in effect gives even more of an argument to all four back. Picture Nikki Pedersen in Max Fricke's saddle...he'd be out, no question.
  3. It was the wrong decision for the sport of speedway and in particular the event itself. The referee had an opportunity to keep the event alive and he let so many people down by not doing so. I've watched the replay and it was an easy call for all four back (thinking British final type situation here, not heat 2 of a league match) and what adds to my annoyance, the chairman of the bspa was acting team manager of the Monarchs pairing at a bspa event...something not quite right there either.
  4. I suggest you look at his record at lakeside then - Certainly not out of his depth at your local track.
  5. I hereby nominate this for quote of the year. He's been riding full time Elite League since turning 16. Holding down a pretty decent average as a heat leader in 2014. I admit for some strange reason he does struggle at Birmingham, I suppose most riders have so called bogey tracks, but "out of his depth"? I have to ask - How many times have you actually seen him ride?
  6. Well the people standing near me last night were adamant the meeting would be called after heat ten. We were absolutely drenched and it was getting quite heavy towards heat ten. The fact that they initially carried on indicates the track wasn't as bad as most of us thought (or should I say visibility). However the race times indicate differently. There obviously was some kind of a problem. Scott Nicholls wasn't at all bothered by the call off and he was riding better than anyone. Cookie on the other hand was struggling big time yet wanted it to carry on...go figure. There was never going to be a universally popular decision here. The track help up very well considering.
  7. Ryan Douglas doesn't have the necessary visa to ride in anything other than the PL this year.
  8. Swindon were right in this until the dubious exclusion of PK in heat 13. All downhill from there.
  9. Its one of those stop start type of days. It could brighten up later, but raining heavily right now. I'd say 60/40 against it being on.
  10. I may be blind but can't say I saw a lot of dust. The track did look challenging, especially early on, and I know some riders commented on some very large pieces of material which were evident during the track walk (so something not quite right obviously) Good little fightback by Coventry, with Swindon almost blowing a decent lead. In the end the big difference was Steve Worrall, a rider in form. Any elite league team with a double figure draft rider will win matches this year. Some interesting averages starting to be calculated with the new format, god only knows what they will do next year, with plenty of false averages. For what its worth I didn't think it was that bad last night, I've certainly seen a lot worse at Brandon.
  11. Could anyone explain how Redcar have managed to reintroduce Richard Lawson into their lineup for tonight's meeting v Plymouth, after Swindon v Lakeside was rained off this morning. When under exactly the same circumstances Nick Morris wasn't allowed to be reintroduced last Thursday?????
  12. Be good to see a few of the Under 21 riders appearing at Gustrow on the Sunday. Incidentally I believe the Aussie team to be Nick Morris, Max Fricke, Ryan Douglas, Mason Campton.
  13. Will try to meet up mate, if we haven't already done so. We are flying into Berlin, hiring a car and staying in Gustrow for two nights (Friday and Saturday), then back to Berlin after the Sunday meeting. Trying to find out who will be in the big individual on Sunday, but the organisers are still putting the lineup together.
  14. Ahhh but there lies the problem, he isn't riding at Brandon.
  15. All booked up for this weekend, and really looking forward to it. Will definitely do the speedway meetings, and will probably have a look at the long track at some stage....
  16. From what I can gather Nick attempted to get back into this meeting, but his request was rejected (by Brian HavelockI believe). Pretty poor whatever reason is given.
  17. Looking like a lovely day in Bydgoszcz, Monster party in the centre of town tonight to wet the appetite.
  18. Yes mate, on the Bydgoszcz flight. Meeting a couple of others at the airport weatherspoons.
  19. Seven of us departing Stanstead early Friday afternoon in readiness for a top weekend of beer, bikes and babes...lol. Usually a pretty dam good weekend in this part of the world. Weather forecast looking dodgy for Saturday and Sunday. Thank god for cheap beer.
