I'm an old fart but I think I've brought down the average age of the attendance tonight. Flasks and blankets as far as the eye can see. An hour gone and only six heats completed. If we factor in a couple of intervals, a break between the two matches and Rocket Man doing a turn for the kids, I reckon we'll be away by about 2am.

I'm very much looking forward to this attractive double headed fixture at Rye House. However, just to be on the safe side I'll be taking along my sleeping bag as we all know that meetings at Rye House have a tendancy to last longer than life itself. Two on the same night might mean that the famous fish and chip bar will have to think about serving breakfast if it goes on too long. It seems like an age since I've attended a meeting at the Len Arena and therefore it'll be great to catch up with the Rocket fanatics. I remember the good old days when the Wizard of Shadwell and Splatty used to be the top boys in the 'Temp Stand'. You'd be a brave person if you tried taking your flask of tea and fold up chair in there if you weren't part of the Rocket firm! If you see me, please come over and say hello. I'm thinking of digging out my old 'Mudlark' t-shirt...it's gone a bit yellow since old Kevin Mullarky was the undisputed King of Hoddesdon but I still look a Bobby Dazzler in it! One, two, three, four come and see the Rockets score...can't wait.

Safest Tracks And Others
thrillpool replied to mickthemuppet's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Rye House, the safest track? Pah! I remember coming away from there black and blue after wrestling with a load of kids trying to grab Uncle Len's lucky two pound coin... -
I read somewhere that Viagra is coming off patent in the UK next month and that the price for the legal stuff will drop ten fold. With that in mind many of the traditional speedway supporters will have more cash in their pockets and therefore I predict an upturn in numbers on the terraces very soon.

Is Speedway A Family Sport
thrillpool replied to michaelcroucher's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Every time I've been to Rye House I can't help but notice that there seems to be quite a few great great great Grandparents in attendance. So well done to Len Silver for upholding the family sport tag! -
Wild Cards 2014

You would have to include Hans Andersen, you can't have a GP series without any fit riders in it. -

I have a similar problem. -
It could be one of two things... a) The fish and chips or 2) Nobody else wants them.

British Grand Prix 2012
thrillpool replied to willstaxi's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Rye House as an alternative for the British GP. So what if the Millenium Stadium is in the city centre and gives you access to all the pubs and bars, so what that it has a retractable roof that provides an electric atmosphere and no possibility of a rain off...you can get fish and chips at Rye House. -
Cardiff 2011
thrillpool replied to sirmattyisbac's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I would also like to tell the speedway fraternity about my success in securing accomodation for next year's British GP in Cardiff. I've managed to book a room at the Ibis, I hope you are all very proud of me. -

Well done Arcy Ward! I wonder if he'd have had another hissy fit about home track advantage had Pavlic won? -

Could Hans Qualify?
thrillpool replied to Hans Andersen No1 Fan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If the GP series were open to the fittest riders, Hans would be in it every year. -

Swc Final Sat 22 July 2006
thrillpool replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm starting a fund to send the British Denmark groupies out to Denmark to live for ever and ever. They were quite obviously born in the wrong country therefore it's only fair if we, the speedway family, do the decent thing and send them over to where they feel they belong. They will be housed in a secure unit in Copenhagen and given all the help they need. Please give generously to this excellent cause and let these girls live happily ever after in the land of fit speedway riders. I'll start the fund off by donating £100 today and another £100 when I get paid next week. -

Little British girls who dribble over the Danes are to be pitied if you ask me. Isn't there a place for them to get help?
