  1. The PL is a "failed product"? Despite receiving loose change from Sky and largely propping up the EL? I suppose you'll be going to tell us the NL is the way to go then.
  2. The MCF isn't under the authority of the ACU. So, unless the ACU are going to recruit Thatcher's SPG to club everyone in attendance, they can't stop the meetings from going ahead. The MCF licence the tracks, set their own standards & regulations (similar to - or maybe better than - those at present) and obtain all necessary insurances. So there's nothing in theory to prevent the meetings going ahead. If the BSPA blindly dig their heels in, they ban around 36 quality riders & 6 tracks from the PL. If that continued to its logical conclusion, there's the basis for a pretty exciting and dynamic league. And another one run by the BSPA - before consideration is given to anyone (rider or club) jumping ship. Still, in the short term, the next MC meeting should be fun: "So, Uncle Len, been doing much lately?"
  3. Six round with four wildcards and 12 riders competing in all rounds. That's 36 riders and 6 tacks who are thrown out by the SCB by the time the series is completed. I can't see that impacting much on the premier League - go on then BSPA. The dozen permanent riders including up to now Berwick's #1 and two of the Newcastle side would be banned at the beginning of May as well as Leicester being without a league place. InJune it would be Rye House's turn to be booted out. Yeah, that'll happen.
  4. It was a p*ss take regarding their competence to organise the events - I assumed earlier that insurance & licences would have been thought of before someone on here brought it up. Actually, now that I think about it, it doesn't matter what it stands for. If something changed its name from say, "Board" to say, "Bureau" would it make any difference to their ability to screw things up? I think not.
  5. I guess with all the tax money Rangers avoided paying, they did away with irony in Scotland. If you read back a few pages you'll see I said the MCF are more than capable of organising events with regard to legalities & insurance.
  6. If only the MOtor Cycle Federation had any experience of organising motorcycle events they'd know it was dangerous. I bet they're glad it's been brought to their attention.
  7. I agree entirely with you on that one (which may be a surprise :-) ) The BSPA would need to show a proactive nature to get the cash in. They could start with an exciting approach to a predominantly British series of meetings, giving riders overlooked in favour of crap continentals. Oh hang on, that couldn't happen.
  8. 2 of 6 tracks announced 6 of 12 riders announced, with 4 wildcards in each round. As its primarily aimed at Brits & British based riders it obviously isn't aimed at you anyway.
  9. Good to see one of the Management Committee is fully aware of everything going on around him, having signed up for a round at Rye House & in Ashworth, Tully, Worrall & Haines 4 of the 6 riders named are assets of or contracted to MC members & their clubs. Communication obviously working well then. Something tells me that this isn't at an end.
  10. Team performance didn't come into your first post, but feel free to change tack
  11. Don't talk cobblers: why would it be a single camera? Eurosport "took a feed" from the Olympics - it didn't look like a home movie. Africa Cup of Nations on now. Looks fine. Sky take a feed of every Grand Prix bar Cardiff. They choose to send what they think passes muster as a commentary team. But the pictures wouldn't change. The lack of a bumbling Havelock or Ermolenko wrestling with a foreign tongue appeals more by the day Sky did the exact same thing with the test matches in India - after spending the first few days pretending they were there! Eurosport has a far bigger catchment as it doesn't expect it viewers to fork out to pay for football. 12. But the pictures will be the same as now. They'll blether on a bit in between heats rather than ask the Yank a simple question only to be answered by a barrage of words that need to be rearranged to make any sense. Memories? Hell, I have memories of Alan Weeks doing speedway on the BBC. I guess it would be different on there too.
  13. In itself, that's not a bad reason. The wrong way to go about it though. So what? I mean what difference does that make to anyone? How many pound coins a rider takes home is no-ones business other than the rider. Chances are they're on different pay rates anyway.
  14. Why would that be? Sky only cover Cardiff, which they would continue to do to supply BSI / IMG so there would be no change in the pictures from the track. Hopefully there would be someone new (anyone will do) to give us a break from the screaming & the orgasms, and that just means the loss of Keith hewean (sp?), and his sidekicks. So what?
  15. So, having overspent ridiculously on football, the poor saps - sorry, I mean subscribers - get the schedules filled with second rate programming that isn't even in HD? When can I expect a reduction in my HD subscription then? I can only hope that BT Vision and today's Virgin Media deal rip Sky in general & Sky Sports in particular to pieces. You might have 4 channels - but you've only (barely) got 3channels worth of programming TWENTY NINE satellite trucks to bring what? Blokes standing on the roadside outside training grounds? Here's an idea - buy them all a decent mobile & tell them to ring in. That'll pay for a season of speedway coverage. So give him the gig & put it on Eurosport. With Sky out of the equation, there's no need to inflict Shouty & his orgasmic mate on the world. Staemann did a fine job on 5Live last year - he was allowed time to make a point without being shouted down.
  16. If I was actually concerned about the GPs , I'd say Eurosport would be better for them. Of course they're not shown on British Eurosport at present. But that would hardly be a huge leap. I guess that would involve the world feed commentary, currently by BBC's Darren Fletcher. Another good reason for the switch to be made.
  17. So what, unless you sign up Shouty Bollox that fans are generated - in which case, where are they?
  18. So Murdoch then flogs it to NBC and trousers the cash - the thing that Sky in the UK have overspent massively and THAT is why speedway amongst other (much more well funded) sports are shafted still holds true. And if they did, I guess there'll be pages aplenty on here with sheep THANKING them. If they did pick it up at the last minute, it would be because they'd succeeded in screwing BSI / IMG (actually not a bad thing, in itself). Fast forward 12 months, Sky say to the EL that having paid (say) 40% less for the GPs, take a pittance or leave it. The fat orange cockney will have to settle for a Lexus and the EL will be potless. Yay.
  19. It doesn't lack TV coverage. For that matter, the GPs don't lack TV coverage, at least at this time. It would hardly be a radical leap for Eurosport to taken on the GB broadcasting rights. If they decided to show them live on Eurosport GB, they'd have more exposure than at any other time. But that would be good - so you're not going to consider that, are you?
  20. Because they havent got a pot to p*ss in after BT Vision bid for some football. God forbid that Sky have a competitor, so they overspent ridiculously buying all the football they could, even by sticking another couple of quid a month onto subscriptions. The football is also for Fox in the US (which is why most of the 3pm kick offs can be found on online streams - so Redneck Bill who's just found can see where the next overpaid retiree is coming from to replace David PoshSpice. Early morning fodder, so they can watch Chelsea Cherokees take on Tottenham TYphoons or whatever. Noticed that there's a LOT more cricket on this winter - even more than the ridiculous amount last year? Because Murdoch wants it for Fox in Australia. It's cheap to Sky to put on endless hours of South Africa v Sri Lanka or whatever cobblers is supposed to be "of interest". Just like the Champions League football - who the hell watch Braga v Cluj while Man United played the other team in their group? At least it was amusing to watch all the praise being heaped on Sky for bring us the NZ GP LIVE!!!!!! OMG!!!! THEYRE SOO GOOD TO US!!!! Why? Because they'd booked Hours & hours of cheap satellite time for NZ v Zimbabwe? Rugby League gets @ £90m in a 4 - 5 year contract. Why? Because Murdoch wants it for Australia - that's why it's a summer sport now. So, it's not as if the money that is being spent is being spent on UK viewers - they're a lucrative sideline.
  21. It would be a difficult, what with it being called "The You Kay Speedway Series" and all that. A lesson on the history of restraint of trade and a suggestion to promote a series of speedway meetings by conjuring up a pretend name for the sport. Jesus. The BSF at its best.
  22. Very questionable I'd guess. Did the expression "restraint of trade" exist in 1964?
  23. I refer to the AA Road Atlas 2013 which includes in some detail the road system in this country. It was this network that allowed, amongst many others, both Bedermark & Lindgren to ride for Newcastle while regularly flying in and out if Stansted. Maybe he just didn't fancy the country lanes of Scrumpyland with its slack jawed yokels holding things up, chugging along on their tractors.
  24. Well done you. It's on the BBC as well - with he additional benefit of not having Sky "presenters".
  25. Fair enough Stekkers, but at this stage, as a potential punter, I'm content that an organisation like the MCF will be more than aware of the requirements to make their meetings happen without calamitous after effects. Bearing in mind the amount of whining & bitching cobblers that gets written on here about the supposed dunderheads at the BSPA, maybe calamitous after effects would be seen as a good thing. Going to leave this alone for a while as the anally retentive anorak wearers seem to have become contagious: I've just realised that the first two venues are owned as opposed to sub-let by the speedway promotions. Coincidence, or planned? Christ, I'll be wearing a bobble hat & caring about auspices next. Maybe.
