  1. "Shouldn't be too hard"? Is that because its come from a member of the School for the Hard of Thinking? I thought the BSF was a fountain of all knowledge and all promoters had to do was "listen to the fans" and all would be well. Then to combat falling attendances, apparently brought about by continual watering down of the product, it's an "opportunity"to water it down so much that former EL and PL teams flood into the NL. Jesus, "listen to the fans" nod it could have all been laid to rest years ago. And no, not "any idea could be a good idea", not if its a bloody stupid one. Before you run down the PLCT too much, remember the qualification for h Young Shield that Workington got so excited about was for those not good enough to be in the play offs.
  2. Probably a bloody sight more than cough up £14 or whatever at Scunthorpe, so don't let it worry you.
  3. in the opinion of the latest guise of Snacky's little gimp mask wearing pet it might be interesting, but not to those who don't subscribe to breeding within the family.
  4. I thought Pearson announced Harris retiring from SGP.... no hang on, that was retiring IN an SGP, and he usually does it two or three times in EACH SGP.
  5. Nope, it isn't. It's not like anyone is going to go to one venue as opposed to the other, based on price comparison. There's a dozen reasons for them being structured differentlywhich makes comparison pointless rather than interesting.
  6. There's no sense in Newcastle doing anything stupid, picking off the riff raff will probably be more than enough.
  7. It seems that the Plymouth riders are doing their bit to minimise the ongoing "financial shenanigans" by keeping their claim to a reasonably small amount in respect of tonight's meeting.
  8. To be fair, you could put Glanz on 100 quid a point - it's not exactly going to be a drain on resources now, is it? However, if the figure quoted is an indication as to the fanciful figures being claimed & paid in some cases, the enormity of the sport's problems are put into perspective.
  9. The tenner for away season ticket holders was tried a few years ago but, let's face it, these days a fiver towards your fuel for an away trip isn't going to fill anyone's car par these days. Press release from Berwick today continues the tenner admission for the next two meetings. It might not work everywhere, but it does appear to be working satisfactorily at Berwick - with a lower mid table team.
  10. As much to do with Lawson's score at Ipswich. What is a one-of score suppoed to prove? Funny how the little camp mascot has his low scores passed off as "a low average for next year". His scores have been at best on a par with the "unacceptably low" scores of Doolan, whose upturn would probably have made the difference between making the Play Offs & whatever the Remedial Post Season is called. Yeah, but, to be fair, most other tracks have "only" had to combat the recession & the rain. Workington have (one of a couple) management that actively encourage dwindling attendance.
  11. Equally, Saturday was an example why dropping Kev Doolan in favour of the little camp mascot was ridiculous.
  12. Davidj: Just the sort of introverted, inbred attitude that leads to situations such as the current one. How do you know about "my" Berwick threads? What right have you to be reading Berwick threads? Oh, that'll be because its a Speedway Forum. It's only a few weeks ago that (thankfully) the rain wiped out a weekend where the plan was to charge £15 admission & 2.50 for a programme soley for the visit of "my" Berwick team and then the same pricing 24 hours later v Leicester. If those matches had gone ahead, Christ knows what the losses would have been. Hopefully Saturday will be a success to such an extent that the deal might be repeated and have a snowball effect, rather than the crowds of late which have dwindled.
  13. Fair play, eventually. Some sort of scheme might have eased the situation weeks go, but at least it's worth a try.
  14. So, that'll be a "No - it doesn't appear anywhere else" then. Notwithstanding the efforts of the Supporters' Club, what have the promotion actually done to achieve anything at all this weekend? Toys out on Tuesday, back in on Wednesday when Denham found out how much he'd lose for pulling out during the season, the only reason put forward for there being a meeting on Saturday is that it'll cost less than closing. Since then… nothing.. I'll ask again: is there any substance greater than the figment of someone's imagination behind the notion of any discount being dependent on 1,000 or more turning out on Saturday?
  15. Is there ANY mention of this ANYWHERE, online, in printed matter, or broadcast in the media? There's nothing whatsoever on he official website, apart from the copy & pasted Supporters' Club Wednesday morning get together since Ashley Morris apparently did okay in a meeting at Sheffield - not even a mention of the Glasgow match. Unless of course, irrespective of how many cough up their £15, the attendance will be in three figures.... Not exactly making an effort to drag the punters in.
  16. Not the case at all, but does it REALLY come as any surprise that the toys have been chucked. Five years of inability to interact with human beings, whether its the ever lengthening list of riders who have jumped ship, to volunteers and fans that have been cleared out. Now it's all "lets get behind the promotion".
  17. Well done trigger, up to speed now :-) Now if the rest of the Leicester fans could just catch up…
  18. So, CVS should provide more support (in addition to owning 51% of the whole thing), although you're totally unaware of what support may be entailed in owning that 51%, he should subsidise the Silver Helmet field and, as you same to blame the rest of the consortium for "ruining the club"and suggest as much support for The Wrinkled One as possible who, it would appear is a beacon of sanity & integrity. So, which is it? Either: a ) Even though Middlesbrough does resemble a dilapidated theme museum, surely glue sniffing is a bit retro, even for the Boro, or b ) Hello Brian, nice of you to post on the forum Freddie Starr once ate a hamster - I dont mind researching my facts - here you go - http://sunheadlines.blogspot.co.uk/2008/11/classics-freddie-starr-ate-my-hamster.html It must be true, it was in the paper.
  19. Virtually since Day One, it's been "my way or the highway" with Denham. Add that to the recession & the rain and it's an overpowering combination.
  20. And remodelled their team accordingly. But that had nothing to do with Glasgow's losses.
  21. Except wasn't a lot of that due to trackwork being carried out, with only a vague scheme that might pay for it - and didn't.?
  22. Well, that's taking the GP series to the big cities of the world while combining hotbeds of speedway activity. Surely there's a field in Holland of maybe Bosnia that could host a round too.
  23. Excellent point, well thought out and put forward with aplomb. Doolan is evidently revelling in the cosy friendly atmosphere that is all around Redcar these days.
  24. Because, after his leg break, there weren't many other (if any) places to go? As has been proven, a season standing still rather than moving up, so a wise decision by those that knocked him back.
