  1. Hopefully Jason Lyoons won't be there. He will be lining up in the Young shield Final at birmingham (if we beat Stoke of course).
  2. Poor Mario. best wishes to him. Does anyone know how Manuel Hauzinger did?
  3. Great meeting from Scott tonight. Was convinced he would finish last in the final but so pleased he came second and got on the rostrum. Thought he rode with fire in his belly tonight. Just a shame Holta did so well so he stays within a few points of Scott. As much as I think I will alienate some people, I feel that even if he just misses out on automatic qualification for next year, I still believe he is worthy of another nomination.
  4. Congratulations to Leigh, Nicki, Tomasz and Scott for reaching the Final tonight. A reasonably entertaining meeting I thought. Good to see Tomasz Gollob looking fantastic again and good to see Scott in another final. Shame he came last in the Final, but at least he is getting to Finals now. Just a bit more improvement will see him on the rostrums regularly. Looking forward to seeing Gollob belting round Bydgoszcz at my first ever foreign GP but would love to see Scott do well too.
  5. With regard to the Hans/Nicki incident, to be honest. I think they are both as bad as each other. Had it been Adams or Bomber etc that Hans had taken out, we would all be saying it was a dirty piece of riding by Hans. But as it was Nicki, I'm afraid I don't feel much sympathy, as I'm afraid you reep what you sow.
  6. Great effort and display by Scott tonight. I didn't bother to get too excited tonight after previous performances in the GPs and coupled with the food poisoning I thought he would be lucky to get one or two points. However, I was very impressed with him tonight. His gating was a lot better and he looks more and more to have the 'fire in his belly' back ( in more ways than one at the moment!!). Would have loved to see him on the rostrum, but never mind. I'm going to my first ever foreign GP in Bydgoszcz in Sept, on my own, so fingers crossed a good meeting for him there too.
  7. Quite a poor meeting in my opinion. Much prefer to see proper RACING on a proper track. Thought Crump did extremely well considering, bad luck to poor old AJ. Disappointing from Anderson, Harris, Hancock tonight. Pleased for Scott, thought he rode really well tonight, his gating was much better. Whatever has happened to the invincible Mr Gollob from last Saturday night. What a difference a week makes. Looks to me like his heart isn't in the GPs anymore. Biggest surprise of the night was Rune Holta, congrats to him on his first podium finish and of course to Jarek for his 2nd place. Nicki invincible tonight, fully deserved win.
  8. Harris has been pretty good on every track he has ridden in in the GPS this year.
  9. No Steve, that is not what I'm saying at all. All I'm saying is that if you have the power AND the talent of course you will win. Tomasz Gollob is one of the finest riders I have ever had the pleasure to watch, on his day. All I'm saying is, give all the riders the same speed machinery and the talent will always shine through.
  10. I agree with you, I think 2 pairs in each race is a much better idea. Like you say, it makes more of a team feel to the event and would hopefully encourage team riding and as you say would make it a closer event. I also feel that it should be held on a neutral track for everybody. I know this would prove difficult and also you need a big stadium for the large crowd, but how about as I said previously, having it at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff the day after the Grand Prix. It makes sense, people are already there for the GP and yes riders who competed in the GP would have already ridden it, but at least a couple from each nation would have ridden it, so it is fairer. The thing is, that having the Final at big sweeping tracks, basically the result is determined on outright speed, not on racing skill. I would much prefer to see all riders on similar machines going hammer and tong with great racing, rather than seeing one or two nations with far superior machinery winning by half a lap. Although England and Australia failed miserably at the World Cup, we all know that they are better than that and I believe was not a true reflection of their capabilities. Speedway seems to be becoming very political, we all knew months ago, the Poles would win. I will be very interested to see how the likes of Gollob and Hampel etc do at Prague without their special machinery.
  11. I'm sorry, but I really don't believe that the British and to some extent the Aussie boys are that daft that they didn't know what set-up to use for this type of track. Personally and I'm quite sure that people will think it is sour grapes, but I believe that the Poles and the Danes had something that the Brits and Aussies didn't have last night and it wasn't just talent.
  12. Were the machine examiners Polish by any chance??
  13. Personally, I think they should hold the World Cup Final at the Millenium Stadium the day after the British Grand Prix.
  14. Shame to see Leigh Adams being beaten comprehensively on a track that he is usually nigh on unbeatable on, must have been something wrong with his bike perhaps!!
  15. So pleased to see Scott do so well tonight. He looked calm, relaxed and happy. I know it was his home track, but he certainly looks like he has got the passion and determination back in his racing.
  16. Did any of you go to the Collectors Fayre? What did you think of it?
  17. The Kenny Carter Book will be available at the Fayre from the Backtrack Stand. Also there will be Enjay Designs selling all the normal rider stuff, some great new t-shirts, badges and clothing lines and as far as we know so far Nicholls and Adams caps. There will also be a stand specifically selling photographs this year, of all teams and all tracks. Jock will be there selling the Jason Crump Merchandise. Pawel from Poland with his usual large array of merchandise. Backtrack, Jeff Scott and Neil Evitts for the book signings, Re-Run Video Productions and Martin, Alan and Nick Barber with their old memorabilia. If I have forgotten someone, my humble apologies, but should be a great day all round!!
  18. This years Fayre will be held at the Cardiff Rugby Club (next door to the stadium) and is open 10am - 5pm. There will be 2 book signing this year, as well as all the normal rider souvenirs. Neil Evitts will be there signing the new Brummies Legends Book and also Jeff Scott will be there selling his new Shale Britannia Book. Adults £1 Children Free.
  19. RIP Kenny. I don't want to go to speedway anymore.
  20. I did mention this on an earlier thread. My ex husbands company has produced the tickets for Cardiff this year. These tickets have to be made in such a way that they cannot be copied easily ie forgers. Hence this is why IMG do not distribute them until the very last minute, because if you give forgers enough time they will find a way of reproducing them so no-one would know the difference. Hope that has made you all feel a bit better.
  21. May not be a bad thing for him to have some competition, might up his game a bit. Heres hoping!!!
  22. Just want to say what a good, well presented meeting this was. Congratulations to Jonathan Chapman. About time we had some new blood involved in the sport with new ideas.
