  1. Well luckily there are people 'foolish enough' or we wouldn't have any speedway to watch and I would be out of business!!
  2. Even if the weather forecast was atrocious and England were playing in the World Cup final?
  3. As I said if you think you can do a better job, give it a go. I think you will find that running a speedway club is not as simple as you think. In fact, from experience, it is a thankless task, as there are always people on your back ready to put the boot in. Some people do nothing but criticise, they live for it. You would be totally amazed at what goes into putting a meeting on and the hurdles that have to be jumped over. My father had to leave promoting because he got a stomach ulcer through the stress of it all.
  4. I disagree. It saves possible rent of stadia, travelling expenses, flights and all sorts of other things that have to be done before each meeting. It saves a lot of time effort and money.
  5. Iainb, I really do think with your fountain of knowledge and your incredible vision of hindsight, that you should run a track yourself. You surely can't fail as you seem to know everything about running a speedway track and even merchandise sales. I'd do it if I were you, you surely can't go wrong.
  6. As far as I can see I think they are being very sensible. Saving a lot of time and money for themselves and a lot of others.
  7. Doesn't mean they sell though. The problem with track shops and indeed all retail, is that people have different tastes. Some prefer all singing all dancing items, other prefer simple looking garments that they can wear out of speedway. We try and cater for both, but never in a million years will we keep everyone happy. At the end of the day, we try and do our very best for all of our clubs, all of which are unique in their own way. We must also remember, that as much as we love what we do and do our very best for each club, we still have to make a profit to continue trading. It is no good us buying loads of expensive items that 2 or 3 people want and then be left with loads that we cannot sell, that is a false economy. Taking chances on expensive items is a dangerous game to play when you are trying to survive. Speedway is not like football. Football order items in the 100s and 1000s. We order in the 5's. We have to. Many clubs have found out to their cost, that merchandise is not the huge money spinner they think it is and have been left with thousands of pounds worth of stock, that I'm quite sure their fans would prefer them to spend on the riders or track. Its a helluva risk. We have been in this industry for many years and know it well. We can all argue with others and tell them what we think they should be doing and how we should be doing it, but when you are spending someone else's money its easy, not so easy when its your own.
  8. Trouble is with Cookie, he openly admits he hasn't been on a bike for 18 months, whilst many many others have been practising whenever they can to keep match fit. Whether he thought he would just carry on where he left off in 2019, I don't know, but its pretty naive to think he will just jump on the bike and be just as good. Last night at Lynn, he seemed completely dis-interested, pulling up at the back etc. A club cannot afford to carry a number one like that, you have to at least win at home most of the time, to keep the fans coming back. We have so few meetings this year, there isn't really time to carry anyone, particularly your star man.
  9. Speedway Year Bars for the 2021 are now available. They are priced at £2.50 each and are available in red, yellow, blue, black, white and orange. Available at: SPEEDWAY BADGES & YEAR BARS 2021 – Jaybea Designs
  10. Regarding replica race tops, Jaybea Designs, the King's Lynn Track Shop, will be providing replica race tops for adults and children. They should be available within 3-4 weeks.
  11. Buster is a good man, thank goodness he is involved. We have been crying out for someone with the best interests of all speedway teams to be in charge, now we have it. Let the guy do his job.
  12. As usual we will be holding our Speedway Souvenirs and Collectors Fayre at Cardiff Rugby Club, next door to Stadium on Grand Prix day 9 July. Doors open 10am until 3pm. Badges, mini bikes, vintage items, t-shirts, programmes, photos and much much more. Look forward to seeing you there.
  13. I am arranging a Speedway Collectors Fayre to be held at the Premier League Fours Weekend at Peterborough on the 23/24 July 2016. The Fours itself will be a big event and we are looking to make the whole thing an all round great experience for everybody. I am looking for as many stalls as I can to make this a fantastic popular event. So, if you are interested in a stall and have speedway wares to sell, please message me and I will give you all of the details you need. Many Thanks Bev
  14. Sorry if I've missed it, but how come Rob Branford is allowed to ride in all 3 leagues. I thought riders were only allowed to ride in two leagues. Sorry if its been asked before.
  15. Afraid not. Only Greg's team approached us for a stall, but I have NKI stuff on my stall as I am selling them for him.

  18. Thanks for your kind words about my Track Shop. Sounds to me that you and the other moaner are the type of people who have too much time on their hands and enjoy pulling people and the efforts they make apart.
  19. We usually have one in March and November, just had one on 3 November 2012. Will post details when we have a date for the next one.
  20. Just a note , if anyone has club kevlars or race jackets i am always looking to buy. please drop me a mail many thanks
  21. My opinion is that Nicki clamped Holder hard and gave Holder absolutely nowhere to go. I also think it was a game plan by Nicki to either get Holder excluded or to stress him into making a mistake thereby getting the threat out of the way and giving himself a better chance of being World Champ. Chris Holder has been consistently the best rider all year and deserves to be World Champion. My Dad said when he first came over here and rode for the Isle of Wight that he would be World Champion one day, today he was proved correct. Well done Chris Holder.
  22. I do like Nicki, mainly for his pantomime villain role, but I would like to see Chris win.
  23. As much as I love the 'Pantomime Villain Nicki P', I fear that he is losing the plot again. Dangerous, dangerous, dangerous, dishes it out, but can't take it. I have found his behaviour funny in the past, but it is getting a bit 'near the knuckle now' and I do fear for the other riders in a race that Nicki is in. He needs to tone it down, before he gets himself injured badly or worse still injures someone else badly. He does not need to behave like this to win, he is an excellent speedway rider. He needs to show how good he is on the track with his racing abilities, rather than his bullying tactics and cheating.
  24. As they are having the Cardiff GP on an august Bank Holiday weekend, why not have the World Cup Final the day after at the Millenium Stadium. Guaranteed a huge crowd.
