British Speedway Promoters Meeting
CMV06 replied to dantodan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I've always thought that a good way of getting younger people in would be to showcase a band from a local university/college. Give their followers (or anyone with a student card) a discount on tickets and have a different band every week or so. This could build a good relationship with the local Uni/College and some of the music followers might actually get the speedway bug. Would also dish out free tickets to local primary/secondary schools every couple of months and it might get a few regulars that way too. Andy Povey always ran a good site for Reading, not sure if was paid for it though. -
Final 2011 Gp - Gorzow

Certainly my favourite rider and that race with Emil in the peeing rain was breathtaking, no hang ups about conditions, just went for it. I was watching from behind a cushion screaming at the telly that he only needed 2 points, waiting for him to come a cropper but he didn't (thank God) -
I always find it frustrating that he starts the season so slowly when, come the end of it, he looks like he belongs up with the Worlds elite. Maybe a good bit of pre-season will blow away the cob webs and see him be the rider that he clearly has the ability for. My worry is that, if he gets left out of the GP for one sason, will he get back again? I'm not so sure, particularly if Woffinden keeps on improving. I hope he can, I'll be well happy if he puts in another good performance in a fortnights time and at least puts the ball in the organisers court (along the lines of Marmites point).

Think that will ensure him the wild card for next season???

And me please

At Home With Herbie

I really hope he can win it, never met a nicer rider in all the years I've been to Speedway (Hope AJ can blast his way into the higher rankings too) -
Would prefer Sweden as AJ is my favourite rider but The Danes with Nicki will suffice. TBH anyone but Australia will be perfectly acceptable (that's just ensured they'll bloody win it now )....

Weren't a few of these injuries to the head? There is certainly only so much the brain can take in a short space of time, I took two severe bangs to the head within a couple of weeks in 2008 and after the second time the hospital kept me under observation over night and wouldn't let me return to work for 4 weeks. How much recuperation time has Tai had after his crashes??? Surely it has to be taken into consideration that he may not be 100% right.

As long as janusz and AJ get the nominations then I'll be well happy with that

Get in there Bomber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you ever so much

Is there any internet links for this as I just tried to go on to justbintv and wockychannels and they are now both password protected. I'm stuck at work and am desperate to see this one. Many thanks Chris

Olympic Stadium Gp 2013?

The area is an absolute dive and there is no way that I would consider taking any of my children there for a Speedway meeting of any level, especially if it was going to finish after dark. Wembley is no better so I would take Cardiff any day of the week, easy to get to and from and this year especially, was embraced by the local authorities as well. -

I don't think we should. If the facilities and track are among the best in the country then I don't care who rides there week in and week out nor at which level. If all Speedway stadia had the facilities and racing that were on offer tonight then I believe Speedway in this country would be a lot healthier than it is now. I liked the fact that the venue was pretty much neutral for everyone as I think it made the meeting closer and thus more exciting which means that there were two winners tonight, Team GB and, more importantly, Speedway. -

I thought it was a fantastic advert for the sport tonight, absolutely brilliant I hope we get a decent performance on Saturday but if not, at least we are in the final this year. Think Rob Lyons got the riding order spot on as well, Richardson going out first in the last set of heats after the track would have been graded, we needed a gater and then having Bomber and Scotty going out in the last 2 high pressure heats was a good call also. I thought Simon Stead looked a much better rider than we have seen in recent years, probably down to the fact he is settled at a club that appreciate and support him. Tai beating Holder was the highlight for me though, fantastic -

Just goes to show that this thread was a complete load of ballcocks Rob Lyon looks the part as Team Manager and we actually had a venue and track which served up a fantastic night of entertainment and a team which did us proud, happy days -

Poland are dominating World Speedway at present because their promoters and Speedway authorities give a toss about Polish speedway and Polish riders. As a Reading Racers supporter, it was fantastic to watch Janusz fulfilling the potential that he clearly had as a Racer. Nice to see Sam Simota riding again after some awful crashes and injuries and it was lovely to hear Nigel Pearson talking about the Racers possible return in the next couple of years. FWIW, the Gate Girl in red had a fiiiiiiiine arse, hubba hubba
-
I love that idea, brilliant

Absolutely, any adult who thinks it is okay to stand up and stop a seven year old from viewing the racing because they cannot control themselves is clearly selfish and thinks that their enjoyment supercedes everybody elses.

Cardiff Grand Prix

Didn't find the PA system that bad and could hear pretty much everything although it kept sounding to me like the announcer was calling Jarek Hampel 'Jesper'. I was well chuffed with our seats on the fourth bend, cheapest ones I've ever had and by far the best. We sat in the empty seats (after asking the stewards if it was okay to do so) and had noone behind or in front of us throughout the meeting. My son and his friends were able to go and sit in the front row and could see everything as well as collecting the shale from the green netting -
Last year when I attended the GP, my night was ruined by a few inconsiderate Polish fans whose behaviour was out of order in front of my 7 year old son. I made some comments (can't remember them all tbh) that would have appeared to tar all Polish fans with the same brush which (because I let my emotions get the better of me) were all wrong. Yesterday all the Polish supporters that we encountered were unbelievably nice and friendly and kept asking for photos to be taken with my Son and his friend who were both kitted out in GP Caps, t-shirts, air horns and flags (Swedish and USA), which made their day. I shouldn't have made such sweeping statements and yet I did so for that I am sorry. A few weeks ago I offended many people on here for calling Gollob an animal. I am still not his greatest fan but yesterday I could not help but marvel at his ability and bravery when finding gaps that just weren't there, right by the fence (particularly on turn 4 where I was sitting) and I must admit to feeling gutted for him when his machinery was the only thing that, in all probability, was going to beat him. Anyway, I had a far more positive experience this year and can't wait for next years GP already and to top it all off, I took two first timers yesterday and they want to getinto league Speedway so that they can understand the sport better and see 'those nutty geezers riding around at full pelt with no bleedin' brakes'.
