British Speedway Promoters Meeting
CMV06 replied to dantodan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I've always thought that a good way of getting younger people in would be to showcase a band from a local university/college. Give their followers (or anyone with a student card) a discount on tickets and have a different band every week or so. This could build a good relationship with the local Uni/College and some of the music followers might actually get the speedway bug. Would also dish out free tickets to local primary/secondary schools every couple of months and it might get a few regulars that way too. Andy Povey always ran a good site for Reading, not sure if was paid for it though. -

Certainly my favourite rider and that race with Emil in the peeing rain was breathtaking, no hang ups about conditions, just went for it. I was watching from behind a cushion screaming at the telly that he only needed 2 points, waiting for him to come a cropper but he didn't (thank God) -

I can't find the ticket prices anywhere, has it been announced yet because I have to break the news to my son that we will not be attending if the tickets are £25 -
I always find it frustrating that he starts the season so slowly when, come the end of it, he looks like he belongs up with the Worlds elite. Maybe a good bit of pre-season will blow away the cob webs and see him be the rider that he clearly has the ability for. My worry is that, if he gets left out of the GP for one sason, will he get back again? I'm not so sure, particularly if Woffinden keeps on improving. I hope he can, I'll be well happy if he puts in another good performance in a fortnights time and at least puts the ball in the organisers court (along the lines of Marmites point).

Think that will ensure him the wild card for next season???

At Home With Herbie

I really hope he can win it, never met a nicer rider in all the years I've been to Speedway (Hope AJ can blast his way into the higher rankings too) -
Would prefer Sweden as AJ is my favourite rider but The Danes with Nicki will suffice. TBH anyone but Australia will be perfectly acceptable (that's just ensured they'll bloody win it now )....

Elite League Pairs
CMV06 replied to I HATE THE RAIN's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Where did I say anything about ambition or lack of??? I said that there was no gallantry in Watt 'dropping out'. As for Readings situation, it is down to a lack of stadium that we are no longer running and nowt to do with ambition. Get your facts right before commenting on something you clearly know nothing about -

Poole will do anything to win a trophy and the logical choice for the Kings Lynn track is Darcy Ward but please don't try and paint a rosy picture of gallantry on behalf of Watt to sacrifice himself for the club, Fat Maud told him he was out and Darcy was in and that was that -
When Reading dropped to the Premier League I didn't notice a drop in attendances, some weeks I actually thought the gates were better. As for the quality of racing, it was very much the same as when Reading were in the EL, some excellent, some good and some average. I got as much pleasure watching The Big 'O' blasting around the fence as our coveted No1 as I did watching Greg Hancock chase down and passing opposition riders. The beauty of Speedway is that it is four blokes bombing round a track on a fast bike with no brakes, whatever level you watch it at and the racing can be just as exciting for many differing reasons. Why should the Louis' lose further money by paying over the odds to try and win the Elite league??? I would rather have a team in the PL for years to come than have a team challenging for the EL title for 1/2 years and then going bust. It's alright for people to say 'bring in the top riders and challenge for the EL title' when it's not their money isn't it. I trust Chris Louis more than any other (apart from Jon Cook maybe) in Speedway, he comes across as someone who thinks with their head rather than their chequebook and will do what is best fir Ipswich in the LONG term.

Weren't a few of these injuries to the head? There is certainly only so much the brain can take in a short space of time, I took two severe bangs to the head within a couple of weeks in 2008 and after the second time the hospital kept me under observation over night and wouldn't let me return to work for 4 weeks. How much recuperation time has Tai had after his crashes??? Surely it has to be taken into consideration that he may not be 100% right.

Pawlicki And His Average Manipulation
CMV06 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Matt Ford has shown himself up to be nothing more than a spoilt child who, when things don't go his way, spits out the dummy and takes his ball home. The lack of fireworks and champagne at the end of the meeting along with 'We are the champions' being played at a level that only dogs could hear (sorry Gemini) showed a real lack of class on his part. He has dragged down to the gutter all of the good 'PR' work that Middlo and Watt had engineered in their totally sportsmanlike way that they handled defeat, not to mention the Poole fans who, in the majority, have shown real humility over the last couple of weeks. I tell you if this was one of the mainstream sports then Ford would be charged with bringing the sport into disrepute by the authorities. Silly little man. P.S People wonder why Darcy Ward acts like a petulant child, they only have to look at the example being set by Ford to see why. -
As long as janusz and AJ get the nominations then I'll be well happy with that
