  1. You sure he isn't phoning Plymouth City Council Godfrey, not answering the phone sounds like them, not sure if the College was shut yesterday with the Police elections going on.
  2. Not ten times the difference Mike, i bet they didn't pay more for it when the owners of the land before sold it to them because they were a catholic school. There is a going rate for everything, and that is what the buyer will want to pay, i can understand the College wanting to get the best deal for the land, but so will the people buying the land, and usually they will meet somewhere in the middle, but in this case the College don't seem to want to do that.
  3. And you know what was said at the meeting then, because Godfrey was there and i think he would know a lot more than anyone what was said don't you. He would know if they do want to sell the land, if they don't want to sell the land, and if because the land belonged to a Catholic School they want more for it, unless you were at the meeting you would not like me have a clue about what was said at the meeting, would you, or have you got inside information ?.
  4. Looks like there may bo hope for speedway at the SBA according to the local paper today, it says however, there is still a chance that the four-man consortium interested in operating at the St Boniface Arena, could succeed with a takeover bid. Consortium spokesman Godfrey Spargo says, we made an offer to the governors of St Boniface College to purchase the land at the Arena, that offer was rejected on Friday, but the governors, who own the land, have now agreed to another meeting with us early this week for further discussions. It is thought that the governors might be prepared to consider extending the lease of the St Boniface Arena, whitch is due to expire in 2014. If that extention of the the lease is long enough, the consortium might then be in a position to conclude a deal with Bowden to take over the promotion of Plymouth Speedway. A major question, however is whether the necessary agreements can be reached in time for the BSPA annual meeting. Lets hope it can be sorted quickly for the sake of the speedway club.
  5. I think a bit of a carry-on is a bit of an understatement by Ben, the lad and the rest of the team gave100% for the club on the track, a pity the person running the club didn't do that off the track, then maybe the supporters wouldn't feel so badly of him, it's all his doing, and anybody who don't think it is hasn't been following whats been going on, up until this year i have only missed two meetings, but what's been going on makes going on a friday very hard to do. I would like many who go on a friday would pay anything to see speedway in Plymouth, but you have to respect the person who runs it and back him, and i have up to this year, it was a dream seeing the team in the PL, but when you see what as been going on at the track on a friday week in week out you have to question yourself on how far are you willing to support such goings on, and thats when i stopped going, it hurts but you have to draw a line somewhere, and i'm not going to subject my grandson to that everyweek no matter how much i like something.
  6. I gree with you lewy, has they say, it's not over until the fat lady sings
  7. TMW i think you will have to start from page one if you want the reason why, it's a long story but if anyone thinks it's just the supporters that come on this site that are not happy with the goings on with the club they are very wrong, it's just the one's that come on voice there's on this site.
  8. Screm if he do manage to get a place in the NL, lets see what kind of team he gets together, if it's like the top heavy teams we have had in the past in the NL it will take a lot more than fence building to get the missing fans back.
  9. Thats a choice we will all have to make Halifaxtiger, i have made my choice and if it was the only sport i have a passion for then maybe i would have made a different choice, but i will stick to the one i have made, my grandson won't like it but thats the one i have made, but that £20 less i will have to spend on a friday that will stay in my pocket instead of the promotor of Plymouth Speedway.
  10. To answer yout first question, no, to answer your second bit, i'm not a Mike Bowden fan like you, and while he is there i won't pay for 15 heats of speedway, PL or NL. if he put some of the money he made in the first six years of speedway back into the club, it woud not be in the mess it is now, the place hasn't changed from the day it started, he just added a bar, and we all know why. And it will be even less next year if the team go into the NL Mike.
  11. No Speedway at all then mike, has much as i love Speedway, but you have to draw the line somewhere.
  12. I agree mike, its not a place i would want to live if they put houses there, next to a railway line and a flyover, and having only one road going into the site over a small bridge with one lane on a slip road would i think stop anyone thinking of putting a supermarket there off, we may think it's a big site but for a super market or a site for houses to be put on it i don't think it is, looking at that like you i think we have a chance for speedway to continue there, if the price is right.
  13. Only one thing i can say about that is, if Mike Bowden can find a site for speedway then anything is possible, we all know the support is there, so it's not a gamble for anyone who is interested.
  14. I take it Dave when they say they want to sell the land that will include the rugby pitch, and if it do that will double the area the track is on, thats a big piece of land to make a great speedway arena, i just hope they get the deal they want from the college.
  15. http://www.thisisply...tail/story.html This is the latest news.
  16. Your right Dave, brain cells do come in useful when used properly, WHEN YOU HAVE SOME
  17. The BSPA won't be happy until there are no British riders in the EL, to stop Bridger like him or not riding in the PL will in the end force him and riders like him to leave the sport, if there is anyone killing speedway in this country it is the BSPA, for such a simple sport they make running it look very hard, i think the BSPA need to get together engage there brains and sort the mess they call British speedway out, it's British speedway so lets help British speedway riders ride in it, something they seem to put way down there list when they have there meetings of meaningless rule changes that nobody understands, the first rule for me should be to encourage home riders like most Country's do to ride in there league, it can't be that hard, but then again the BSPA make everything look hard.
  18. Do you think in all of this the promotor of the club tried to understand the feelings of any of the supporters of the club, after things that went on at the meetings on a friday i don't think so, if his feelings were hurt then he might understand what we has supporters felt when the rest of the PL were laughing at what was going on at Plymouth, this was all of the promotors doing, all the fans of the club want to do is watch a speedway meeting without all the distractions going on around them, and when it goes on every week, it's very hard. I do like most of the supporters respect what Mike Bowden has done to bring speedway to Plymouth, but the club is on a downward slide and to stop that there needs to be changes made, so hopefully that will happen so the club can move on, there has been a lot of work done at the sba to get speedway up and running so Mike Bowden needs compensation for that, but that will be down to the new people taking over getting the go ahead from the landlords of the site, until then it stays the same. Very true, good job they didn't watch Emmerdale Farm
  19. You have to be blind, deaf and stupid not to notice the things that have been going on at the meetings on a friday night, you have to wonder what some people are looking at when they go, because it's very hard sometimes to watch the speedway. And considering what has been going on the support for the team has been very good, some people think that we should support the promotor no matter what happens at the meetings, don't work that way, and they will say if you don't like it don't go, well lots of supporters have done just that, it's not the place for parents to take there family anymore, but that will change with the right person taking over.
  20. This is the latest from the meeting with the owners of the SBA. http://www.thisisply.../plymouthdevils Sorry Squall should work now.
