Well said Wooly.

Well done the Rye House management. Great opportunity to promote the club and for fans to ask questions and maybe allay a few worries. Dave Morton in attendance too.

Not scheduling any home fixtures for August appears odd, but then you have to factor in the 4TT Finals at Coventry on Sunday 14th and the Pairs at King's Lynn on Saturday 27th, I suppose. Maybe the stadium has other events scheduled in August. (Mildenhall only have one home fixture scheduled between 19th June and 7th August.)

But, as norbold has stated, this isn't about the 'top' rider in a given year. This is about a dominant rider in an era. A rider who was looked at as the one to beat. The one the others looked up to. Year on Year top riders have been discussed on other Threads. The way that arnieg has looked at this is more comparable. No, not a multiple World Champion. Would have troubled the top 3 a few times though.

Coincides with my best night I had at Smallmead - 22 October 1984 - Racers 32 v 46 Witches to become British League Champions. Magic. Followed a few days later: 27 October 1984 - Aces 33 v 45 Witches (KO Cup Final Leg 1) and 28 October 1984 - Witches 47 v 31 Aces (KO Cup Final Leg 2). (Not so many comparable nights at Blunsdon though)

And does the Club itself really know why they changed race-night from Wednesday to Thursday? It was mooted that it was to assist with bringing in a top-line rider - which hasn't yet happened. Or is it as a prelude to Thursday being a 'fixed race-night' for the EL in 2017? (Thursday, when 3 x PL clubs currently have their race-nights.) All it seems to have achieved is to lose out on a top Tier 1 Reserve in Lewi Kerr and to lose out on some support from Suffolk who will now get their 'EL fix' at Lakeside on Friday rather than at the Adrian Flux on Wednesday.

I thought I remembered that Tim Hunt and John Louis had a coming together at Foxhall on the 3rd/4th bends when JL came back with Halifax in 1981 and thought that Tim Hunt moved from Ipswich to Reading in 1982, a year after JL had left the Witches. Certainly remember Hunt going ape, storming around on the track and losing it big time. All this after JL had mentored Hunt in his early career. And I was disappointed with the reaction of the Witches supporters, including one who went on to be the Team Manager, around me that evening, who all had a go at Louis after his tremendous service to the Club. It's ok supporting your team, but another, in my book, having a go like that at one of your club's greatest ever riders.

Only basic results from the Final of the D-Dub #43 Cup available from the North Brisbane Junior Motorcycle Club Facebook page: 1st: Todd Kurtz; 2nd: Brady Kurtz, 3rd Rohan Tungate; 4th: Tyson Nelson (Todd posted 14 points in Pool 1 of the 500cc Solos ahead of Tyson Nelson & Sam Masters on 12 points, whilst Jason Crump recorded 15 points in Pool 2 ahead of Rohan Tungate & Jake Allen on 12 points) Todd posted this Instagram image and was obviously delighted with his performance: https://www.instagram.com/p/BBcl8eeyWSE/ (Having attended the meeting on Saturday evening, Darcy then flew off to San Diego courtesy of Monster Energy.)

Isle Of Wight Wightlink Warriors 2016
Reviresco replied to SpeedwayPortal's topic in National League Speedway
Well, you both did well there. 26th May - Warriors at home to Belle Vue and, 1st September - Warriors at home to Eastbourne. NL fixtures out today. They don't appear yet on the Warriors web-site, twitter or facebook but can be found month by month on the SpeedwayGB website. -
Thanks. A good insight, and into the speedway supporter demographic. Interesting reaction to the question about Hans Andersen's return to Wimborne Road. What was Middlo's response - 'I'll work with the dick'? Hope Hans sees the funny side too.

Looking at this clip, from the recent Round 6 of the Argentine international speedway series at Bahia Blanca, you can see why Nico likes to ride out wide in the dirt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfNk0k-EZFg (Covatti in the green helmet colour, number 3.)

Unfortunately, the scheduled fixture at Rosebank on Sunday between the Auckland Rhinos and the Southland Outlaws has been cancelled due to the inability of the Southland side being able to raise sufficient riders to travel to Auckland. Announcement from Rick Lang of the National Solo League of New Zealand taken from Facebook: DISAPPOINTING NEWS Round 4 This Sunday Feb 14th Rhinos v Outlaws at Rosebank Unfortunately this round has had to be CANCELLED due to the Outlaws inability to muster a team to travel to Auckland and therefore defaulting. A very disappointing situation with some far reaching effects of which I will not go into. In light of this and after great consideration, as the rules do not cater for a defaulting team, and in fairness, the Rhinos will be awarded 3 points for the win + the bonus point to take 4 points from the abandoned match. I believe this the correct result and therefore changes nothing for both the Rhinos & Comets who will have to win their match against the Outlaws (at home) at Oreti for a chance to win the league. As an aside to this, I have called a conference between the 3 tracks at the next round at Oreti on the 20th (Outlaws v Rhinos) to discuss a number of issues and where to for Solos in NZ, with some ideas I want considered. - Rick. Rosebank will still hold a meeting of club racing this weekend at the reduced admission price of $10. (It sounds as if all avenues were explored to get the League meeting on, but these weren't helped with Meeanee Speedway outside Napier running solo classes for the first time for 12 months on Saturday and with Harrisville Speedway at Ohakea down near Palmerston North running a meeting on the Sunday.) Round 5 (Southland v Auckland) scheduled for Oreti Park on 20 February with Round 6 (Southland v Canterbury) at Oreti on 5th March.

Just surprised you missed off - 'Letsbe Avenue'.

That makes no sense BV72. If the Club are going to allocate a seat to Advance Purchase tickets then they should have allocated seats to Season Tickets. In other sports that I have bought season tickets for, I have been offered a tour of the stadium to enable me to chose where I wanted to sit. I'd revert to the Club and have a word about this, as they seem to have missed a trick here if they haven't allocated Section, Row and Seat numbers to Season Ticket holders.

Wasn't that Lou Reed? 'Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side'.
-
King's Lynn are keeping you company there, weatherwatcher, as they still have to declare a full team and have about an 8.60 hole to fill to take them up to this season's team limit.

Holstebro and Munkebo, along with Outrup, have the majority of their Danish 2016 home fixtures scheduled for Fridays.
-
Hughes and Hopwood both appear on the Elite Draft List, so nowt to do with the PL - the introduction for 2016 of 'PL No.7's eligible for the NL', as you will know, is totally separate from this. Of course, neither Rider was picked in the draft for this season, but your concern may be if the EL progresses with plans to adopt back-up Tier 2 Reserves, from where Hughes and/or Hopwood may be picked up by an EL club.

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2016?
Reviresco replied to Paul Johnson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Hopefully the announcement of a new Title sponsor to replace FluidAir Power Ltd and nothing sinister.
