  1. Leigh Lanham added to the start list for Lakeside's opening Spring Trophy meeting on 18th, making it 4 x Rockets in the field along with Eddie Kennett, Stuart Robson and Ben Morley.
  2. Brilliant news. I was lucky enough to speak with Suzi after she had been covering a meeting at Foxhall and before she flew out to Mugello. A really lovely lady who obviously knows and loves her motor-cycle sport.
  3. Yes, it surprised me when I first started going to speedway how few people seemed to turn up on bikes, which was highlighted when you went to somewhere like Foxhall in the 70's and '80's with cars far outnumbering bikes on the heath. When I was involved in campaigning to bring speedway back to Essex on the closure of Romford and Rayleigh, so many anti-speedway people used to use the frightening image of 'those biker boys' as weight to their argument (something I see has been used by some of the people against the extension to Kent's curfew), showing how little they know of the demographic of speedway supporters. Other forms of motor-cycle sport seems to attract a far higher ratio of a bike riding audience.
  4. Shouldn't forget that the U21 Reserve can only be used in the event of injury or illness to one of the 1 to 4 and not to replace an under performing Rider, so I wouldn't limit Robert Lambert to the Reserve slot until we've seen what form the riders are in and who deserves to be in the 1 to 4 on merit. Placing the form Rider in the Reserve position would be a waste if they don't end up getting a ride in the meeting. The host nation doesn't have to declare it's final composition until 30 minutes after practice for the Final.
  5. Think Rye House have copied the black and carbon livery for their updated logos. Yes, Twitter. The links you get through Social Media from stumbling over images of Upright Speedway bikes, tweets from Derwent Park and usernames... Thought it must be you. Both bikes look superb by the way.
  6. Well, I think the new logo makes the Witch look as if it is preparing for a pole vault run-up rather than riding the broomstick as in previous logos. Apparently, one of the colour schemes was based on a Suzuki motorbike livery that a certain supporter had been seen riding. (Not sure if CL is 100% correct in saying that yellow has always been part of the Club's colours as, from memory, it was always very Ipswich blue, black and white, with yellow only appearing occasionally from the late 70's.)
  7. Been confirmed that there will be no practice today with plans for the riders to get on the track on Friday and Tuesday, weather permitting. The new club badge and 2016 kevlars to be revealed this morning. Meet the Riders event this evening. EDIT: And of course, Mike Bacon gets in first: https://twitter.com/Mike_Bacon/status/707510046284980224 https://twitter.com/Mike_Bacon/status/707511353267908610
  8. Tatum was 19 when he started riding for Wimbledon in 1983. Not many start off in the top league aged 16.

  10. Gino Manzares suffered yet another injury. Get Well Soon Gino: https://twitter.com/Gino_Manzares/status/705938661112557568
  11. Craig Cook has tweeted: Had a few people asking why I'm not in Croatia, nothing serious don't worry! I'll get a press release out some time mid week #cc111
  12. 2015: '12.9 Goggles must be worn and together with spectacles if worn, must be shatter resistant.' 2016: '12.9 Goggles and/or spectacles, if worn, must be shatter resistant. These must fit the rider and be worn at the start of each heat; their removal and/or loss during a heat is not an offence.'
  13. Result from Round 6 at Oreti Park on 05 March 2016: Southland Outlaws 23 v 53 Canterbury Comets Outlaws: Paul Highstead: 0,1,1,1,0 = 3 Daniel Shuttleworth: 1,2,0,0,3+3,F = 6+3 (Joker) Jake Gillespie: 0.EF.EF.1.2 = 3 Glen Sole ©: 1,1,F,2,S = 4 Bradley Stockton: 1,2,TS,1 = 4 Adam Shuttleworth: 0 = 0 (Paul Highstead rode for Outlaws as a late replacement for John Tuffley, with Outlaws choosing to use Highstead at H1 rather than promote a Reserve) Comets: Grant Tregoning: 3,3,2,3,S = 11 Andrew Aldridge ©: 2,3,3,3,2 = 13 Ryan Moss: 2,2,3,2,3 = 12 Jason McKay: 3,2,3,EF,3 = 11 George Congreve: F,1,1,2,1 = 5 Wayne Drake: DNR (Comets won 8 of the 12 Heats by 1-5 and and another 2 x Heats by 2-4, with the home side managing a 3-3 in Heat 3 and an 8-1 in Heat 9) (Ryan Moss won Heat 12 after falling and re-mounting in Turn 1 Lap 1 when the rain arrived) National Solo League of New Zealand Official Final Placings: 1st Auckland Rhinos 12 points 2nd Canterbury Comets 12 points 3rd Southland Outlaws 0 points Auckland Rhinos win the 2016 National Speedway League of New Zealand on points count back: Both the Rhinos and Comets finished on equal 12 points being 9 match points + 3 bonus points As per the rules when teams are tied there is a count back in the first instance in the two matches between the tied teams In this case: Round 1 Comets beat Rhinos 37 - 35 = Comets +2 Round 2 Rhinos beat Comets 36 - 33 = Rhinos +3 So by the slimmest of margins, i.e. 1 match point the Rhinos win the league. 14. Yes June, Bjarne is now classified as 'B' category in Denmark after 9 years as an 'A' grade Rider with Holstebro.
  15. Lewi Kerr, Kyle Newman, Josh Auty are out there too.
  16. I see that Mark Lemon has started a gofundme page to support 'Team Australia's' Senior and U21 SWC campaigns: https://www.gofundme.com/aesg4xhw This follows on from the announcement in December of a cut in funding by Motorcycle Australia to all non-road racing functions: http://www.ma.org.au/index.php?id=12&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=15526&tx_ttnews%5BbackPid%5D=6&cHash=01c9983213 I think I'm right in saying that Prize Money for the 2016 SWC starts at US$25,000 for 1st Place reducing to US$8,500 for 9th Place.
  17. I think the suggestion may have been, what happens if Scunthorpe/Holub don't ride the required number of matches to enable Holub to achieve a Calculated Match Average and lose his assessed 7.00? And don't forget that it takes 7 days for the CMA to become effective after the last qualifying match has been ridden. At the moment, that will be Thursday 7th April with the away match at Sheffield, but this supposes that there are no postponements and that Holub rides in all 5 matches necessary. And looking at his record from last season, 12 points from 15 rides in 3 matches (Average 3.20), shaving off 7.00 won't be that difficult for him to achieve...
  18. As was pointed out earlier on this Thread, the majority of the fixture clashes were with Bjarne's Danish club Holsted, rather than his Polish club Pila, as Holsted ride on Fridays and Wednesdays. Yes, a number of previously arranged midweek Polish League 1 fixtures have now been moved to Sunday, but Pila are still scheduled to ride on Friday 5th August when Lakeside take on Belle Vue, and it looks as if Polish TV are now scheduling League 1 fixtures on a Friday night, which would lead to even more potential clashes with Lakeside fixtures.
  19. Bryn, I thought that the car accident that took Deon's life was on 26 Feb 2011 and the funeral was on 03 Mar 2011.
  20. Bjarne's take on the situation: http://www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/4726/bjarne-lakeside-exit-expensive
  21. What it says on the release I posted a link to is: 'a mixed tournament with a maximum of 8 players per team but must include at least 2 women (all must be 16 years or over)'.
  22. Especially when Debbie Hancock made the announcement of Kildemand's inclusion in the Rebels side for the Challenge, she said: “By having Swindon at the Oaktree Arena for our opening match of 2016 is a great way with which to get the new season underway, especially with ex-Rebel and current World number 5, Jason Doyle back at the Oaktree Arena, even if it is with him riding for the opposition!” “The meeting itself will be forming the second part of our press and practice day, but in a break with tradition, the practice part of the day becomes more meaningful with it being the match against Swindon, and I would like to express my thanks to Roscoe for agreeing to bring the Robins to the Oaktree Arena and I am sure that it will prove to be a great occasion.” I wouldn't want to be the person to break it to Somerset that Swindon may now need up to 4 x Guest Riders to fulfil this fixture - Doyle guesting for KL; Morris riding for Wroclaw along with; Tungate & Wright riding for Somerset?
  23. Danny King has stepped in to replace Thomas Jorgensen for the Ben Fund Meeting at King's Lynn on 12th March. Sounds as if Jorgensen has fitness concerns and Danny had volunteered just to late to be included originally: http://www.srbf.co.uk/news/article.asp?id=100041
  24. Picked up from the Berwick Bandits web-site, a proposal to hold a 4TT 5-a-side football tournament over the weekend with the final to be played on the centre green before the 4TT Final and the winners collecting the 4TT Premier League Cup: http://berwickbandits.co/article/peterborough-4tt
  25. Teams for Round 6 & Final Round at ORETI PARK SPEEDWAY Saturday 5th March at 4.00pm SOUTHLAND OUTLAWS V CANTERBURY COMETS OUTLAWS 1 John Tuffley 2 Daniel Shuttleworth ... 3 Jake Gillespie 4 Glen Sole 5 Bradley Stockton Manager: Derek MacRae COMETS 1 Grant Tregoining 2 Andrew Aldridge 3 Ryan Moss 4 Jason McKay 5 George Congreve Manager: Craig Moss Statement by Rick Lang of National Solo League of New Zealand concerning the previously cancelled Auckland Rhinos v Southland Outlaws match: 'Teams Points Update As expected there was some controversy around the decision on points allocation after the Round 4 match was cancelled due to the Outlaws defaulting to the Rhinos. Speedway New Zealand asked MSNZ ( the Motorcycle group) to discuss and comment on the decision. The group did that and agreed with the points decision that had been made. However the group recommended to SNZ that in the best interests an independent panel should make the final decision, which SNZ did. The decision has been released today to uphold the original decision and the points score not be altered, although there were a number of comments surrounding this, including SNZ control, which will affect the future of the league if there is one next year. This is for notification to all interested persons only and no comments or discussion will be entered into or entertained here. This week, and especially the past few hours have been a particularly turbulent for the league and solo racing and some outcomes are likely. I myself will not comment at the moment and am considering my options.' (All courtesy of NSL of New Zealand Facebook page.)
