  1. Danny Ayres (Rock) or James Shanes please. Kennett gone off the boil recently partly due to his ear infection. Would be happy with Robbo tbh.
  2. Is "lewy" making the journey as i am sure that one member of the Massif in particular would provide him with a very warm welcome, whilst the rest of the Massif cook their snags over him, lol. Danyon's birthday today and the boy will be fine on Thursday. Three point minimum return guaranteed or I'll eat my right leg..... Geez, I'll start knitting soon, wondered what that bite was at the end of the Pant Hers match.... Many Happy 15 point returns Danyon. You are a very welcome and important addition to the Witches squad and team for the years ahead son. Take your time and enjoy yourself (and remember to give us a wave, lol).
  3. The Massif will all have to dress up as knitting Zombies for the last match of the season - as close to Halloween as possible, er, that's 15th September then.....
  4. Foz's interviews from Thursday with Danny Ayres and Ritchie Hawkins: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p040cltw#play Go to about 01:21:00
  5. Great words T B. Sadly I am unsure that this will happen now...
  6. You enjoy your Brazilian don't you Bman...?
  7. Lord Coe lookalike I thought. I mean he must be as clean as a whistle, mustn't he? You got some Lapland athletes there then BP? Or is it lap dancing? Confused now I am.....
  8. I'm in the second from the right, lol Edited as originally totally UnPC comment.
  9. Definition of Massif: "massif Also found in: Thesaurus, Encyclopedia, Wikipedia. mas·sif (mă-sēf′) n. 1. A large mountain mass or compact group of connected mountains forming an independent portion of a range. 2. A large section or block of the earth's crust that is more rigid than the surrounding rock and has been moved or displaced as a unit." Not being Billy Big Bollox but think I did quite well when I came up with that name for our/your little group. Great to see Danyon scoring consistently highly for Birmingham and already told he will be at no. 7 against Plymouth. The lad, I believe has a massive massif future. As for "this guys" for next week, I think the hatchet was buried a bit on Thursday after the meeting so may not be any need, though some may consider that I should dress up as the End of a Ringing Thing. Thought I may try my impression of a Rastafarian Mexican, as you guys did not get this guy's disguise right, as it was a Peruvian poncho, poncho, poncho, poncho, poncho, poncho, poncho Poncho Genchev !? (Football Reference sorry Bman). Olympic theme soon I guess, Rio, samba, samba whistle and all that. The Wimbledon tribute worked its magic on Andy Murray, so an Olympic & Olymix could be called for. Plymouth are The Devils and God would be his (or her) adversary, so maybe pop along as the All Mighty? (Have to get the Knitting Zombie costume out soon too).
  10. Prediction: Danny "The Entertainer" Ayres to wind up the home support. After Mr Ayres performance on and off track on Thursday at Foxhall I am hoping to travel down (from Ipswich) for this meeting. It seems like a 100 years or more ago that I visited Eastbourne (probably 1984), so any current local knowledge (and info on the travel problems being knocked on by the Dover issues) would be very welcome, thanks. Also, may stay down overnight, so a cheap hotel room recommendation would be gratefully received. Thanks again.
  11. NB: this is a lengthy, wordy, post containing personal opinions and comments that not everyone will agree with (or, in some cases, understand). So please do not enter this Post unless you are prepared to see those type of comments. You will be asked to complete a survey immediately after you have read this Post:................................ ============================================================================================================================== Well the good news is that "the Club" are at last listening to their paying supporters. I am unsure exactly what has caused this seismic change in attitude, though I have my own opinions, but it is refreshing and must continue to ensure the future existence of a professional speedway team based in or around Ipswich. For CL to refer to the (always excellent) Updates Site is, imo, amazing, particularly as he uses the excuse of not being near a programme - very unlikely that that would be the case, but lets allow Chris some artistic licence in his very interesting programme notes, and not believe that it was Big Bad Bob again getting sniffy about Baldyman's comments about his tracks - remember the withdrawn post on here a few weeks back....? I am no expert, but is Chris suggesting that at Foxhall a slick track makes the racing slow? Is that right then? And conversely a deep track makes the racing fast? Times are meaningless in team speedway, imo as, the paying fans want to see close competitive racing and, as far as I am concerned, I would much rather watch a heat where one of the heat leader looks for and assists his partner BEFORE the tapes go up, let alone after them. In the "Good Old Days" when heat leaders could chose their gate position, you would see a lot more team riding as, unless he was a completely selfish so an so, the HL would give the preference to his "junior" team mate, giving the second string a chance to gate and hit the first bend ahead with the HL then looking to establish a position in behind his team mate and then shepherding and guiding him home for a 5-1 (or 1-5). With the race leader therefore being a second string it would normally follow that the heat time would be slower which in turn backs up the four riders into a "pack" naturally promoting a closer positioning of all four riders and a comment of "you could throw a blanket over all of them", which is very rare these days. Listening to paying customers has lead to the increased success of many businesses over time, and seems to be very much the case now in this super competitive era, post internet, where a price can be compared inn an instant and customer feedback accessed at a click of a button. Many of us will have seen an increase in online surveys, in fact yesterday almost every site I accessed online had a "would you please fill in our survey after your visit" window pop up even before I had started browsing the products on offer - and no, I am not talking about "those" type of web-sites Baldyman..... The BSF is a great way for a promoter (or track man) to obtain and gauge customer feedback as is, to a lesser extent the (always excellent) Updates Site (which is mainly one person's view of the heats on offer, with a few random back-up comments that are subsequently deleted from the site. I am aware that some riders read the BSF and some do not. It is a personal choice and may indicate the level of confidence a rider has, or simply how thick skinned (or possibly just thick) the rider is. I would have loved for the internet, and therefore the Forum, to have been around between 1972 and 1985. I wonder how many Posters would have received a virtual or maybe even actual visit from some of the riders from that era....? Promoters? IMO the vast majority would access the Threads that concern his club, team and riders. It is after all, instant feedback, a very important commodity for a professionally run business in the 21st century. Maybe, just maybe, the Ipswich Promotion has been accessing the BSF comments and are acting on them. This backed up by the "Massif's" continuing campaign not to be quiet and to have their opinions (and cow bells, whistles, flutes, etc) heard; the invaluable use of the media via Stephen Foster's (Always Excellent) Drive Time programme on BBC Radio Suffolk which followed on that evening to Foz's stint on the PA; social media; the (Always Excellent) Kevin Long and his inbuilt desire to make sure that the presentation is correct and the best that it can be (Kevin personally pays for the centre green flags - there really should be an Argentine flag, imo, as Nico's birthplace surely should trump his racing licence - and an Argentine flag is so much more exotic than the bland Italian offering); to a young fan's (and his dad's) opening day of the school holidays made by a simple but hugely generous post meeting offer by The Presenter; to the news that "Alec Douglas" will be at no.7 for the Plymouth match next week - Quite correctly, Danyon should have ridden in the Pant Hers match, but for whatever reason "Big Hill" was given the nod (why employ a Guest when you have a perfectly adequate (meant in a good way) No.8 champing at the bit to prove that opening night nerves affected his display in the Rye House match; and to a smiling, happy post match pits (reigned over by the magnificent presence of Danny (The Entertainer) Ayres), and an equally happy and smiling Promoter, a huge feel good factor around the whole Club and, replacement speakers being sited 3 meters higher promised for the next home meeting !! In summary, well done to all concerned in achieving this new plateau, from which, surely, the Club can only progress forward with its supporters fully on board and not dropping off at every twist and turn in the road (NB, dropping off knitting zombies is actually positive and should not be considered negative in any way. ============================================================================================================================== Post Post Survey: As Yyu committed to before entering this Post, please now complete macca56's Post Post survey: Question 1] What was the main reason for reading this post today? 12. Haha, always pleased to help to move along the atmosphere and the entertainment levels - not sure about my ability to add anything on the musical front though. I was on drugs the bodhran and samba whistle last night and it appears that my Mexican Rasterfarian Pirate disguise worked as I even exchanged some pleasantaries with Chris after then mkeeting last night. The MRP outfit certainly fooled my nemesis on here who appeasr to be conspicuous by his absence. Maybe that word he used to describe me was a step too far and has led to a ban. Maybe his mate, MtM can let us know as this Forum has been very pleasant to be part of this past week. Really brilliant atmosphere in the pits afterwards and good to see that we fans, small time sponsors or not, could simply walk in unencumbered - or maybe it was an open door for the massif. Great to see CL with a smile on his face and responding to the "Give Us a Wave" chant at last. We don't ask for much Chris and it really helps the fans have an inclusive feeling, something that so many businesses and sports clubs get so badly wrong. Great touch by The Presenter after the meeting. An evening that one young fellow will not forget for a long time, even though he was "flagging" (sorry) toward the end. And great to hear (hopefully anyway) that an investment in two replacement speakers is to be made this week and that they will be sited at least 3 metres higher up than currently which should make the PA audible to the Massif and those that want to enjoy the party. Thursday at 7:30, bring a cow bell, whistle, drum, megaphone or just act flirty.... ? :-) Great to say hello to Foz too after all these years of corresponding by text or e-mail. "macca56" aka "Neil in Chantry" now aka "J. Depp". I have been a fan of Mike Bacon, but he has got his reports totally skewed recently and, following the "Leigh Lanham" being pipped in Heat 3 mess up the other week, this week's article goes nowhere near to conveyingv the enjoyment level felt on the terraces. I will be going to Eastbourne tomorrow to support Danny Ayres (and James Shanes) if anyone fancies a trip to the south coast rather than boring your backside off at the Fours.
  13. Lazily taken and copied from my recent Facebook Post...... No doubt the" Massif" started it off but it was Mr Ayres who bridged the gap between track and terraces. A gap that has been yawning and widening all season. A gap the Massif started building a bridge to close which was pushed on by Foz and then Kevin and taken another step further by the amazing Mr Long tonight and which was well and truly finished off, concreted down, topped off and decorated by the incredible Danny Ayres . Mr Entertainment. Mr Fantastic. Ayres Rock. Ulhuru we love U. Not for a long time has one man done so much for Ipswich Speedway. Thank U Danny boy. Thank U to your lovely mum, your wonderful partner, your beautiful baby, your great mechanic, your incredible colour scheme. Veni, Vidi, Vinci Danny. You came, You saw and You conquered. Enjoy the £20 buddy and see you at Eastbourne on Saturday as I am heading there now rather than the Fours. Even CL had a smile on his face at the end - and a bottles of milk, wine and champagne. And now he also has Danny Ayres mobile number on speed dial.......

  15. Cheap night out for the 2016 Ipswich Witches BSF Massif then... :-) Big Hill above Alec Douglas will pee off the latter even more then. Well done CL, so much for turnabout. Door opening Lester Piggott...!?
  16. Cameron declared fit to ride in the Fours. Just needs an engine or two now then.... Head up fella.... (Ben Morley in at Reserve)
  17. Ridiculous that Panthers get home trac advantage and a seeding. I won't be going now as they may as well present the trophy to Oystercard before the event starts. Ipswich and Sheffield should make the final and may cause the Pant Hers some probs, but can't see it after having to qualify. The 4's has been crap since it moved to Peterborough and 1987 was the pits - in more ways than one. at least there is the inter club 5 a side i supose
  18. As I posted on another thread, Cam has been struck down with serious motor issues since the behind closed doors session at KL. Three engines 'gone' in successive meets. So machine and not man, with Gentleman Leigh helping him out with a loan of a motor.
  19. To put some "balance" on this and after my recent digs at CL, I thought I should post what I am aware of regarding the PA system issues: CL is fully aware of the frustration with the PA system at Foxhall and shares our views. As the equipment does not belong to Ipswich Speedway, rather Spedeworth, it is not the Club's responsibility to ensure it is working in a satisfactory way. There have been so many conversations over the years about the same subject, but it really has come to a head now with the new grandstands, which are obviously a popular viewing area for fans. Yet they are not covered by the current PA. Chris, in turn, has had many conversations with Dean Wood (Spedeworth) on this subject. But because, there are great priorities in the stadium (real Health & Safety issues) which need to be addressed first, there are currently no funds to upgrade the PA system. Chris has been given an assurance that once funds are available then the system will be modified. Until that time, the Club is left to operate as it is; as frustrating as it is. Especially as The Presenter said previously, you the fans, are putting the effort in to generate some atmosphere. (This though still begs the question that BeerHut has already expressed.)
  20. Cam has done engines in his last three meetings and is looking to sponsorship to fix his No. 1, plus buy a new / replacement motor. His issues since the behind closed doors trial meeting at KL have all been motor and not man. Anyone out there want to contribute £, then I am sure that the Rockets young Aussie (still only 20) would be eternally grateful. As always, machine issues do not come along singly. And as a word for Gentleman Leigh, he lent his motor to Cam for the match at Foxhall, so well done Leigh, a brilliant team minded, selfless act. Cam's returns in the Pairs and on the Northern tour can all be put down to engine issues. Very expensive engine issues as well.
  21. Well, I can't really say because of the legal implications and not being welcome, apparently, anymore at Foxhall, so you put two and two together (which some Posters on here would find difficult) , like, like ..... shall we say Doormen (is that really what they are tagged as these days?) as they usually cum (misspelling deliberate) in twos after the event has closed, but when you are a Rider's sponsor and request unencumbered entrance back to a part of the stadium after you have congratulated all the Riders (in particular the Ipswich Reserves) and that admittance is refused for some unknown reason and you express your dissatisfaction and you are told to ********************************************* (unlike some, I do not use profanities to back up my post). And then you are subsequently called the "C" word on here, a public forum which children access, well you can only put the two two's together. Stick stones and all that Guys. But some clubs and some Forums would be better off without certain people, but I can't see the pussy footed Inner Sanctum ever having the balls to sanction that.
  22. Macca 55 may, but macca56 has no intention of shutting down any forum. Rubbish doesn't shut down forums, but using the "c" word on a forum may....? Brilliant! That really made me chuckle. You deliver in ten words what I would have taken a paragraph to put across. Thanks again Scotsman. I have said previously that nobody has to read my posts and, if they affect certain people as much as certain people say they do, then they can simply put me on Ignore. HKP and MTM must be behind what happened after the Rye House meeting...? I just wish that rather than just slag me off, HKP and MTM would tell us what they so obviously have been made aware of and then we could put this to bed.
  23. Thank you Scotsman. A man who cannot laugh at himself cannot laugh any longer.....
  24. Ouch Scotsman, ouch?! A 'Young Mountain' is a 'Hill' ........ and in Scotland does he have to be called "Ben"? (And if they signed Connor Locke (wrong spelling I know) would he big a 'Big Lake'....?) I think all three ('Big Hill', the 'Cracker Man' and 'Alec Douglas') would be worth sticking with, plus Sarj, if only someone at the Club would get off their arse and coach the kid even just once a month. Another plus point of JJ's current points gathering is the irk it will be causing the very quiet neighbours north of the border in Norfolk In Way. Encouragement and support brings heat wins which breeds confidence which brings more wins, which brings a feeling of more time, bringing the rider's head up rather than down and therefore an ability to turn track time into track craft, which can lead to team riding, switch backs, the confidence to try different lines and ..... entertainment for the fans and a far more rounded and capable rider who doesn't then leg it back to the pits in as fast a time as possible, and possibly a lap of honour and a recognition of the fans who part with their hard earned, including the Massif Bell End of the stand (where you sit). Then you have a basis of a young, exciting, talented team which, with the inclusion of an old head (preferably on a young body and mounted on a quick bike) could be challenging for honours, entertaining the fans whilst giving them something to associate with, rather than an 'in and out' mercenary who rides in seven different teams every week and who the fans can feel no love or association with. Of course, that team would have to be in the PL, so that won't be happening at Ipswich next season then.....? Oh damn, just when I thought the light at the end of my tunnel was not the endoscopy torch. EDIT: PS, meant to also add (sorry HKP, you probably lost me at "Ouch", lol) that the Massif plus knitting zombies may then get to see a bit of post heat entertainment too, like, er, maybe a wheelie, you know that thing where a rider picks up the front and rides the thing on the back wheel only. Most of the knitting zombies, will have been filling in their undead programmes with the end of their needles dipped in human blood, so they will have missed it, but I noticed a young rider attempting to entertain post heat during the Rye House match. Now, who was it again, oh yes, he wasn't wearing a Witches race suit, or bib, as a lot of the original seven (well four plus three) suits are hung up in the backs of vans that do not head toward Foxhall anymore, he was wearing a Rockets suit and had flashes of pink on his bike covers. Ah, I know, it was Cameron Heeps I believe. Nice one Cam and thanks for that, Showing the Witches Inner Sanctum what they are missing this season and what they will not be able to tempt back even with all the £ riches of a title sponsor's wallet. (How much did the sale of the van hire business bring in again.....?)
