  1. Not just Danny's as it was JJ's birthday too. Think there may be an element of that and I think I know who the ringleader would be.....
  2. I noticed that too, with CL quoted as saying: "Every point is so vital so it is very disappointing to come away with nothing," said Louis. "I thought it was a good effort at Workington but then some of the lads didn't prepare themselves very well for today and they let themselves down and the team down. Had we have been better prepared, I think we had a good chance of picking up points especially as Rene Bach was missing for them and Danny Ayres was not 100% fit." "Glasgow were not at their best, we were given an opportunity that we didn't take, that is how I see today. I was disappointed in the fashion that we didn't take it too." But picks out young Dan for praise: A positive of the weekend for Louis was the performance of Danyon Hume who made his first visit to both tracks and looked on the pace in both meetings. "Danyon's work ethic and attitude impressed me, he was never off the pace at either track this weekend. The difference between National League and Premier League is probably a little bit of belief at the start line which is understandable and normal but he was mixing it on the first turn and first lap when he was close enough and he never got left behind which was nice considering he'd never seen the tracks before so it was impressive." I guess that the ones that didn't prepare properly will be the first out if the Witches are in the PL next season?
  3. Congratulations to Jame Shanes on winning the British Masters Grasstrack Solo Championship for the second successive year at Hangar Farm at the weekend. Eddie Kennett finished Runner-Up with Paul Hurry Third.
  4. Rockets now to wind up their home PL fixtures with a meeting against Sheffield Tigers on Monday 12 September (Time TBA): http://www.ryehouserockets.co/news.php?extend.1300 Remaining scheduled Rockets matches (dependant on progression in the KOC): Fri 19 Aug: Plymouth PL Away (7pm) (Cameron missing due to call up to Australian U21 World Team Cup Final squad) Mon 29 Aug: Berwick KOC Home (3pm) (First Leg score: 37 - 53) Thu 01 Sep: Sheffield PL Away (7:30pm) Sat 03 Sep: Scunthorpe PL Home (7pm) Fri 09 Sep: Scunthorpe PL Away (7:30pm) Sat 10 Sep: Berwick PL Away (7pm) Mon 12 Sep: Sheffield PL Home (?pm) Thu 15 Sep: Redcar PL Away (7:30pm)
  5. What's worse of course is a rider not trying to avoid a fallen rider in front of him. Dan's actions were correct in every form and executed admirably. As we were saying on Thursday, presumably this is once again part of the test to achieve a licence to ride speedway and that poultec are training this out to all the riders that attend their sessions.
  6. Hopefully he will realise that Danyon is his team mate for this meeting and not knock him off like he did in Heat 15 last week at Brum, lol.
  7. Not like it was, back in the day, I guess waco with super comfortable vans and drivers sleeping while one of their entourage drives them. The main benefactors of Glasgow's mini tour may well be the Witches?
  8. Nice one "J" ask Panthers fans... Ahhh, trade and inside secret. We will find out tonight, just wish there wasn't a clash with Rye House v Glasgow tonight. I have always enjoyed my visits to Derwent Park (well, since 1976 anyway when you naughty lot sent a full strength Witches team home with its broom well and truly between its legs after beating the higher league team fair an square in the Inter League Cup. If memory serves, you also went on to knock out the Stars in the next round, so it wasn't just a one off that season.) I understand what you are saying Mick, and there are plenty who would agree, but the learning curve has been so well and truly taken on board in the past 12 months that, if it continues, I can see Dan being a Team GB international in five years time. It will be exciting to watch that is for sure. I can only wish him well and support his efforts and temper his enthusiasm a notch as Dan could well be in the vanguard of a wealth of young British talent coming through currently. Taking it up the grades is of course the acid test. Massif respect to Poultec and Olly Allen (and everyone else involved) for their efforts so far.
  9. Paulco and Co. if you guys are travelling to this, it would be good to catch up again.
  10. Totally agreed. Tom looked tremendously fast and skillful in the Brummies match against the Raiders last weekend.
  11. Just love the banter with The Scotsman. Great stuff guys. As a "Massif" member (sounds a bit rude, lol), I would love to be there and am looking at flying up on the day, as I will be at Hoddesdon this evening watching the Rockets "soften up" the Tigers to assist the Witches attempt to take points away from the Peugeot Ashfield. Maybe catch up with Paulco and co at Rye House later on today if you are attending (and I promise not to try and give you a lift back to your accommodation after the meeting this time, lol). I enjoyed saying hi to you folks at Ipswich in June.
  12. What is your problem? From the way you present yourself on here, you certainly don't blow your own trumpet, but you would definitely blow something.....?! Right, if you don't like me, why read my posts and then chip in like this? You obviously have a problem, and I think I know what that problem is, but there is a rule on here which reads: "Attack the Post and Not The Poster", but you consistently fail to honour that Forum rule. And as for the members who "Liked" your Post #91....... (Super Blue? El Presidente? What?) And you actually had to EDIT a post of twenty seven words and a question mark.... wow?! (Oh, and by the way, there is a difference between a comma (,) and an apostrophe (').) I do so hope that you will be in attendance for the Plymouth v Rye House meeting on Friday 19th August. You see, I part sponsor one of the Rye House riders and also sponsor two of the Heats in the Rye House programme (it says this on my signature strap-line).
  13. Yes I did, Did you know anyone good and have you ever put you hand in your pocket to sponsor a rider? I put my hand in my pocket to help "rescue" Plymouth Devils Speedway team, so I must be a right plonker, lewy, eh? Another post smacking of jealousy from the south west....
  14. So copied by the Witcheds Massif that Glasgow fans based in Surrey "borrowed" our original cow bell. That's innovation for you Glasgow....?
  15. Danyon Hume to prove the Witches trump card on a track he knows well....
  16. Surrey based Glasgow fans have got our original cow bell and drum sticks. Hopefully it will be returned this weekend.
  17. You referring to my nose? Oh, the musical instrument, no, not a bugle but that was a brilliant time when the bugle boy piped up a few bars that drifted over the Heath.....
  18. I'm working on a flag with Bill Bukstrode but I have nom idea of graphics and they have requested a high res jpeg of the image we want, otherwise the artwork would be v expensive. Also have a new musical instrument on order with Ron Bagley's son who runs Rocket Music in town. I was speaking with him yesterday and he was saying that his dad was well and will be 80 on Valentine's Day next year. I would suggest that Ipswich Speedway should start next season with a meeting dedicated to Ron and, of course, invite him along.
  19. Fair enough buddy. It was, what, his third meeting at Foxhall and he has encountered different conditions every time. Steep learning curve for a rider who swung his leg over a speedway bike for the first time just over 12 months ago. He is like a sponge though and is soaking up all the data his brain is receiving from his time on track. IF the Witches have a team in the PL next season, I would expect Danyon to be pushing on for a Heat leader spot by mid season. I see so much of a young Billy Sanders in him - massive natural raw talent that will learn every time he comes to tapes and if Danyon can end up as half a good a rider as Billy, he will have a tremendous speedway career in front of him. Exciting times for young British talent and a massif tip of the hat to Poultec and Olly Allen. The way Danyon laid his bike down to avoid the fallen Scunthorpe rider on turn 3 last night shows what great coaching, lightening reactions and speedway brain the boy has.already, imo. Agreed the stoppages messed up the meeting last night particularly immediately after the first real interval at Foxhall that I can remember this season, prompted by the Ben Fund collection of course.
  20. Our pleasure Rob. Hope you enjoyed yourself and had a safe journey home and good to hear that none of the falls seem to have led to anything serious. Great interaction between us and The Presenter again last night - well done and thank you Kevin. Good to see the flags back up after being missing when Kevin was in Devon for the last home meeting. Do you really think that Danyon was that untidy last night Baldy? The second fall was due to him dropping a chain. (Talking with him after the meeting, Danyon also said that he should not have been excluded from Heat 15 on Wednesday as, after passing Liam Carr, Carr knocked him off and said to Danyon that he coulodn't believe that he had been excluded from the re-run too.) I am probably off to Birmingham on Wednesday next week if you fancy a trip to see some NL racing on probably the best prepared track in the country.
  21. Thanks TMW that helps a lot and is a great suggestion.
  22. Danyon will score points at Workington, guaranteed. EDIT: £1,657.84 raised for the Ben Fund tonight
  23. Good dining Bruv of Bruv - beware dummy waiters, and Massif wishes SB. The place will not be the same without you two. Hurry ye back. The Massif Unveiling is not too far away now...... I am getting too excited. I've even bolted my microwave fish pie and glass of water (right back at you Bruv of Bruv, lol). No fanny dress tonight. This is seriarse stuff. Danyon must stay on for all his heats and must get his first PL Heat win tonight (paid will do Danyon). If not, I am going to ask a knitting zombie to eat my right arm (or knit me something hideous). Big Ed's away. Flag to the ready. Lights camera action. Bubbles Bubbles Bubbles. Mega megaphone. CHECK. Will Naughty Auty get the first blast....? Welcome back Lewi. Lucifer Sam we welcome you with a Massif Hug, Rob.
